I'm pretty sure some people have all there gear deleted and restart if they switch too many times, but this happens rarely. -

Turn your texture detail lower as well as the texture filtering.

They're using different servers then the mod I'm pretty sure for stability reasons cuz it's alpha, unless ofc you want the servers crashing 24/7. -
Nope the only way to do so was in the settings in the game.
