I never played the original, why is there 3rd person?

Hey another one of these topics. Il comment in this one, i honestly like having 3rd person as it gives me something to look at whilst im running from town to town etc... i go first person for all "combat" but to have this game as first person only now would be silly, it doesn't look anywhere near as graphically pleasing and the sound in game atm is absolutely dire. Not to mention the fact (yes i know its an alpha) but first person currently feels clunky and unresponsive particularly in buildings where i have found i have often gotten stuck in doorways for no particular reason. Improving the sound (which im pretty sure i read will be happening) and making first person feel less clunky may influence me to play on first person only servers. -
Are you also one of these people that would bitch about things being broken in a full release if the testing stages where shorter? Personally id rather have a longer development time period and get a nicely polished working game at the end of it, over getting something that has clearly been rushed to be released when it is no where near ready, example for me most recently is BF4. Besides we are all getting to play and provide feedback on the game as it is being developed, this feedback can and will in some places change the way the game is. The longer the time frame for an alpha the better in this respect.

Really nice guide. I have one question though if you are able to answer it. Do our fresh spawns actually start with max health as well as blood? I have eaten to the stage where my character gets the message either "Healing" or "Healthy" status's on the inventory window quite a few times. If we do in fact start out with full health why is there no Healthy indicator when we spawn and what does the "Healthy" status actually mean? Your best guess will be good enough as you seem to of spent quite a lot of time looking into this. If you have no idea then thanks anyway. -

Im new to dayz never played the mod but am loving the standalone so far. Best game ive played for a long time. Ive also been thinking about starting one of these threads, as the game goes for realism to a certain extent i dont think the idea behind "ability levels is a bad one" it is more of an MMO anyway. If it was done in a way that was say, the more you ran/walked/sprinted the more efficient your character became at long distance travel IE not getting thirsty as often, or the more you used a certain gun the more comfortable you got with it its handling and say not reducing recoil with a certain gun etc... as that would imbalance but say you could reload faster, or if you can repair guns, due to your knowledge you could repair it with less parts or more efficiently and not in a the way of say a "Talent tree" from WoW i dont think it would be too bad. I do think however there would have be a hidden cap on skills if they where implemented, to stop say someone who runs alot having to NEVER drink/eat because the char is over a week old etc... The idea behind this is sound to me, as after all the more we do things the better we get at them, so adding "rewards" for doing a certain thing isnt bad, look at the people who are dedicated medics, They have to now how to treat a variety of different injury's in this game i just think it would be a nice reward for the dedication to be able to bandage faster, or fix broken legs better with splints etc... -
From what i can tell the server restarts are in at the moment as a way to respawn loot and zombies. Afaik loot doesnt respawn at the moment and zombies definitely do not. I mean the way my 2 friends and i can see if a town has been looted is to look for zombies, if you dont see any theres a good chance the only loot you will find are things that others have missed/not wanted. On another note i do love looting a military base, getting 5 mins away from it and the server restarting :P its like christmas only better than at my house ;)

Like the idea, not exactly game breaking as it could also be good as a clan like symbol too, say just a red band made from ripping a shirt up. -
Funny i was thinking about this myself last night! No need for a spacer between mags imo, flipping the other mag around would be good enough, would be a nice little touch tbh.
