Is it a huge fire?? If yes, it's a bug from arma 2, that sometimes if a vehicle crashes, a whole landscape is "on fire". It's weird, and has nothing to do with DayZ itself.

You can't kill glitched characters at all. a friend of me "duped" his char after a weird logout and he was there twice. We gave his duplicate some headshots and tried to kill him, but it doesn't work at all. So don't run there, its not worth it.

This. And the DMR can shoot pretty fast, you don't have to wait some seconds to shoot again, unlike the AS50 or the M107. It has no zeroing tough, you have to work with the mildots. If you don't know how they work, hit up some vids on youtube or check the dayz wiki for it. It's not that hard! (:
