Finally found a AKM on Hardcore, and who knew the Barracks windows where bulletproof!?
AlexLM replied to 8ates's topic in Gallery
I thought this video looked familiar... Your friend posted the same encounter the other day (obviously from his view not yours)! -
I thought the pm63 was in experimental :(

I've been all across the Balkans and the largest supermarket/grocery store I've ever seen was probably 2 times the size of the current model. Don't recall seeing any hypermalls Dawn of the Dead style.

Saw a guy up there once before, he was having a grand old time picking people off but when I went up to collect his loot I didn't see anyone.
-
I saw one today just to the west of Balota.

That RIS handguard looks ass. I just want one of these why is it so long ; _ ; -
I'm pretty confident the jacket isn't spawning yet, and neither is the officer hat.
-
An excellent video

Some nice Russian MVD helmets me thinks

Pull the food spawns waaaaay down, imo it's far too abundant at the moment.

Wouldn't really be feasible to add an underfolder stock to a regular stock AK, as the underfolder requires a new receiver with holes drilled for the purpose. Either way, I'd like one of the carbines. And speaking from experience the NSPU is one dirty heavy beast, sod picking up one of those bricks...

AKM Sneak peak close to being implemented
AlexLM replied to theswedishcathead's topic in General Discussion
In Chechnya motorised troops preferred where possible to use AKM rifles over the AK-74 in the mountains, because the larger heavier bullet could smash through the thick forests the Chechens used to hide in and attack convoys. -
Make it an option to blouse long pants into boots. Why? Because it looks better.

Imo the risk of having your contraption explode mid-firefight would add to the game (being serious).

We need the capacity to build stuff like this out of scrap metal and misc items: http://englishrussia.com/2007/06/04/chechen-self-made-weapons/

Not really. Antonio: Chernarussian movement of the red star, they were communists in south Zagoria region (the part of Chernarus in ARMA 2) who were murdering people and generally being evildoers supported by Russia.

You're ignorant (and arrogant). Particularly when talking so dismissively about a corner of the world where questions of language, nationality and ethnicity have ended so many lives in the last century. WRT the topic yes, Chernarus is a great gameworld. I'd like for it to be extended to include Novigrad one day but that's a pipe dream and a half.

Guinea worms are almost extinct apart from in South Sudan and possibly Mali/Chad. I think anything waterborne should have a chance of contraction when drinking out of water- animals take dumps and die upstream so there's every chance faeces could spread into the water. When hunting makes an appearance there should also be a possibility of getting worms from meat you've cooked.

Dunno if anyone else is into this sort of thing. I do a lot of forum RP'ing and Dayz gives me a lot of material to work with. These stories aren't necessarily things that happened to me in the game, just accounts of individuals and groups within the Dayz universe. Hope you guys enjoy it. Svetlojarsk The sound of heavy footfalls and laboured breathing echoed through Svetlojarsk's wide central avenue. Two figures were making their way up the street, the leader dragging a shopping cart loaded with the body of his companion. Both were nearing exhaustion - one from the effort of pulling the weight of the cart, and the other from the pain of the ragged wound in his abdomen. A trail of crimson dripped from the cart onto the asphalt, easily visible against the dust and debris. The pair burst through the door of the Svetlojarsk clinic, the man on his feet waving a TT-33 pistol across the hallway with one hand. Seeing it was empty, he dragged the cart into the building and closed the door behind him. For good measure he dragged a filing cabinet against the wood and headed into one of the doctor's rooms. As gently as possible, he lifted his companion out of the cart, and dropped him onto the gurney with a grunt. "Hang in there, Nikolai," he gasped, tearing off the injured man's ruined hoody and dropping his backpack to the floor. He placed his pistol on a table and rooted around inside the pack, withdrawing some seconds later with a medical kit and a jar of alcohol tincture. "You're gonna feel a scratch", he warned, slipping a needle into the vein on Nikolai's right arm. This he attached to a bag of saline, which he tied to the low-hanging surgical light with a length of rope. With this done he began to unscrew the bottle of tincture and warned "Nikolai, this is going to sting". Nikolai was too far gone in painful delirium to heed his saviour's warning, but was concious enough to scream out as the alcohol was tipped into the hole in his chest. The other man took this as a good sign, but stole a few wary glances out of the window into the town. A shout like that would have carried for miles. He busied himself with pulling a pair of tweezers out of the first aid kit, which he also rinsed in tincture before dipping them into the wound and withdrawing a bullet. Just for good measure he tipped in some more tincture - eliciting further screams - before returning to the backpack and lifting out a sewing kit. Again he covered the needle and thread in the last of the powerful alcohol, and got to work sewing up the crater. It took eight stitches in all, each piercing of the skin drawing out another cry, from Nikolai, but the improvised surgeon felt he made a rather tidy job of it himself. He ripped open some sterile gauze and bandages, and dressed the wound as best he could whilst awkwardly lifting Nikolai's body to pass the bandage under him. By that point Nikolai had passed out, which was probably for the best. It would be touch and go for a couple of hours, but without any other issues he should be fit to move again within a few days. A crash at the door. The surgeon grabbed his pistol and pressed himself against the doorframe of the doctor's room, listening intently. In the corridor he heard hushed voices and the metallic clanking of weapons being moved around. He strained to hear what they were saying. "It definitely came from here. I'm telling you, someone's injured" "Shut up! Check these rooms!" The surgeon's heart beat faster as he reached for a broken piece of mirror on the floor beside him. He angled it out of the doorway just enough to observe two men in dark green uniforms checking the rooms further down the hall. Both had automatic rifles, and he thought he could see a third lingering around a corner, possibly covering the main entrance. He took a few breaths, preparing to spin round the corner and take them down while he still had the element of surprise. Just as he began to move, Nikolai groaned in pain. The figures down the hall spun round almost instantly to meet the surgeon, who was already drawing a bead on one of the invaders. He loosed off three shots from the Tokarev, two of them connecting into the target's neck and upper chest, and he crumpled to the floor. He spun to take on his friend but found himself a second too slow, and a 7.62/39mm round slammed into his leg, causing him to tumble back into the room with Nikolai and send his own shots far too high. Gritting his teeth in pain, he dragged himself backwards into the corner of the room, leaving a thick trail of blood on the floor from his stricken leg. the sound of running footsteps came from down the hall as the shooter rushed to claim his prize, even as a third man called at him to wait. He flung round the corner, aiming at head height and firing wildly from an AKMS carbine. The surgeon fired another three bullets into him, the large pistol bullets thumping into the man's chest as he tumbled to the floor, still firing, leaving a halo of bullet holes in the ceiling. With eight rounds down, the surgeon ejected the magazine and fumbled for a fresh one in his jacket pocket. The empty metal clattered against the bare floor, and there was a loud echo as he slammed the new magazine home. A voice came from the hallway. "I think you may consider giving up, my friend" it began. "I'm happy to take you down if I have to. Do you hear me?" The surgeon didn't answer, he looked up at Nikolai, observing the multiple craters in his head and side where he had been sprayed by the second shooter. He was almost certainly dead. His own leg was destroyed - the heavy Russian round had gone through his knee, shattering the joint. "Alright, we gave you a chance" came the voice from the hall. "Fuck you!" the surgeon shouted back, gritting his teeth and sharply inhaling as the pain in his useless leg became unbearable. He heard the movement, and the third assailant came around the door, this time at a crouch, he fired several times, hitting the surgeon in the left arm and shoulder. The surgeon screamed, and fired off seven shots in quick succession. He riddled the enemy's chest with bullets, the momentum carrying him backwards and pressing him against a far wall. He slid down into a sitting position, his eyes masked by a dark pair of sunglasses. The surgeon coughed, sending flecks of blood across his lap. He could hear outside the snarling rage of the infected, drawn by the gunshots into the clinic. Shadows danced across the windows as the first of them breached the front door, and their trampling steps echoed down the hall as they approached his position. The surgeon grimaced and lifted the Tokarev to his head as the first of the infected tumbled into the room.

Agreed on the rarity. Have any weapon over 7.62 broken up. Realistically on a DShK-caliber weapon you'd need to replace barrels regularly, at the least. Continuing to fire with ruined barrels could result in the gun jamming, ruining the rest of the mechanism or even blowing it up and injuring the operator. In addition any heavy weapons added that aren't added to vehicles should have to be carried in pieces - the gun itself carried by one player, in both hands unable to be fired, with another player carrying the tripod mount. Both should be unable to sprint and made exhausted quicker by carrying the gun. I'd reiterate that there is a place for guns being attached to hilux-type pickups. But realistically a truck entering a city like elektro or cherno would be destroyed pretty fast. And as they'd mainly be travelling on roads, the majority of players stay off the tarmac anyway and should be able to avoid and ambush them with IED's or just regular automatic rifles. They're actually quite thin-skinned and an AK round would easily penetrate.
-
I somewhat agree with this. I think it should be possible to strip PK/DShK guns out of stored tanks and BMP's and weld them onto cars or pickups via scrap metal and whatever (as well as being able to weld or bolt metal and rubber onto your vehicles to uparmour them. Things like mortars and recoilless rifles would probably be a bit much though - remember the only targets are either squishy humans or soft armoured light vehicles, so a DShK size weapon would be sufficient.

I hear it too (sporting a loaded Mosin)

74 (folder, the full stock version was rare in USSR formations) or AKMs (full stock or underfolder, which would be pretty common still in second and third line reserve divisions). I prefer the aesthetic of the AKM but either would be fine.
