The Arma Engine cannot support melee weapons, when zombies go near you they aren't hitting you with a melee, I'm pretty sure they just have a script that deals damage to you when they're very close.

But see, the one thing a good amount of DayZ player's want (Mainly the people who prefer a more hardcore game.) is they don't want it getting to gamey. If we add a bunch of things like perks and extra bonuses such as this, it sort of takes away from the in-game experience.

Bandits..You're wrong to think that all survivors are stupid
clever replied to bjarnidk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Honestly, the only bandits that I've seen that act better than everyone else are the one's who just randomly kill, even if they don't need any loot. Now those guys are the idiots, not just bandits in general. -
Jesus christ, what is this 9gag?

I'm all for reducing the gear you spawn with, but 30 minutes is frankly too long. Sure, I'd personally love the long respawn times like that, but a good majority of people want to be able to play DayZ in a continuous playthrough, not die, wait 30 minutes, then respawn again. Again, I'm all for making this game tougher, but respawn times aren't going to make people want to start shooting people. It'll just encourage people to start shooting first when not in danger, just in the slim chance that person would of shot them.

The Hungry Bandit Stalks It's Prey
clever replied to chibigoat's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
On the contrary, I think the worst bandits are near the coast. You basically juts run around shooting people, while bandits in the north get to actually track people and hunt them down. -
You can buy it on either steam or get it somewhere else, either way it'll work.

This would be a pretty cool alternative to driving actually, has a nice trade-off too. You can either go in the fast but loud cars, that will probably attract nearby zombies if you don't keep driving, or ride a horse that is quieter but not as fast. And of course the horse can easily die, but you don't need a lot of parts to use the horse after all. Sort of balances itself out nicely.

Sting you sure do leave a lot of negative feedback... Please give us some suggestions Ffs... Apparently no ideas are the best to you.. please leave your suggestions are gtfo of the suggestion section... That is all... He can choose to say if an idea is bad if he wants. This idea isn't that great, seems like people recently are sort of losing the focus of what this game is suppose to be like. Besides, there's been an influx of suggestions like these for awhile anyways. To explain why this wouldn't be a great mechanic. Part of the intensity of the game is wondering whether or not this guy you just teamed up with is really just planning on shooting you later, if you add in a mechanic that gets rid of it then it would completely remove the trust factor out of the equation.

DayZ really doesn't need a RPG-like system in the game. Any kind of in-game benefit one person has over another should be due to actual skills and experience.

I had a lot of FPS lag, but after restarting my computer it was fine for about an hour or two, then it dropped pretty low again. So yeah, try restarting your computer, sort of worked for me.

Universal "First Contact" Protocol.
clever replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I like this general protocol, it could become on a universally agreed on kind of protocol. Therefore if someone disagrees to do it, you know that something's up and you should probably steer clear of that person. -
I would definitely enjoy this a lot more if you discussed more on stuff happening in Chernasus. Such as talking about new and promising groups being formed, telling stories from eyewitness, getting people on to interview (Like a stereotypical bandit, or the in-character representation of a Cawl of Dooty kid would be hilarious.)

There are different visibility settings for night time I believe, the brightest one is the setting where the moon is clearly out, and you can see somewhat well.

Would rather start with a compass and have no pistol
clever replied to underpaidorphan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's not that hard to find out what direction you're going if you study the map beforehand. Usually the coast that player's spawn on is on the south side of the map, therefore you can keep track in your head which way you're going. It's even easier to know which direction you're going at night, just look up and look for the north star, pretty easy. -
In my opinion the bandit skin thing was fine, the only problem was that the humanity system was pretty flawed. A good amount of bandits were just people who would shoot first when in obvious danger.

I'm not sure if you're trolling, or just being stupid. Regardless, most of the trolls aren't actually racist. They just say those things to get people like you angry.
