Now that I've discovered berry gathering, there's no excuse for starving. But what I can't figure out is when it seems like I'm unable to find them on a bush that was for a time giving up berries, is that because it has run out or is just bad luck? Is there a limit to the number of berries a bush has?

In project zomboid (Rocket refers to them quite often), you aquire skill levels by reading books. You have to read a basic farming book to be able plant plants, basic carpentry to build simple structures,etc. More advanced levels of skills unlock more actions. Advanced carpentry is required to build a structure. If the assumption is you're a civilian in Dayz, then it should for example require a basic guide to military weapons to be able to identify/load a gun, medium skill to clean it properly, advanced skill to repair it.

I saw the mention in the dev blog of bicycles as first vehicle. Instead, I would love to see the first vehicle is a horse that you could find some % of the time in a field or in a barn. Imagine using the rope to catch a horse a la Red Dead Redemption out in a field. Once caught, you'd have to find a saddle, reins, horse blanket, optional saddle bags in farm houses or barns. Or ride it bareback at your own peril. You get fast transport with limited capacity in the saddle bags, but you'd have to worry about food (pick up at barns in the hay piles, or let it graze), water, health (bandage a horse), noise attracting zombies, small % of getting tossed when the horse is injured. Animal models for hunting are currently under construction, so this sounds like it would be a nice complement.

Just a fun way to collect a trophy on a kill, then turn that into a leaderboard. You'd have to search them and get their card to add to your hand, then decide to keep the best 5 to make the best poker hand. The more kills, the better your hand is likely to be, but there's still an element of chance to it. Kill a guy and find a 4 card, not likely that he had much skill. Kill a guy and find 5 aces, you've killed someone with some juice.

Everyone spawns with 1 playing card randomly from a deck of cards. You can hold maximum of 5 cards in a stack in your inventory so it takes one slot. Leaderboard is based on the best 5-card poker hand from stack in your inventory. You can't pick up cards from your own bodies to prevent suiciding for draws.

If you can't progress to a new map at the end of the line, then just a rock slide or other calamity to close off the track at either end would do. Yes, the photo is what I meant in the OP. As I recall, there was a good one in "O Brother Where Art Thou" with the blind prophet (Weaver?) but I can't find a photo. Maybe someone else with better image search skills than me could find one. As for the full train, I don't think a full size train would be likely to run in the zombie apocalypse given the amount of fuel it would take and the maintenance required. Then again, we have choppers in the mod that you can gas up with a jerry can, or repair with garage tools in 8 seconds. Realism isn't always the goal.

I know we're not close to getting vehicles yet, but I thought it would be cool to have a hand cart for utilizing the train tracks someday. 1 person to pump it up and down minimum, but allow faster movement with 2 pumping.Allow for seating positions on the front/back for riding shotgun. Persons pumping it would be unable to use weapons. Mount a crate on it to allow for carrying gear,Allow fixed placement of machine gun, but lose seating. Could have a small empty cart attachment as well to give a larger transport capacity. Would need the ability to operate the track switchers where the tracks split. Opens up the possibility of track blocking for a train robbery.

Suggestion is to leave visible footprints in character's path on roads or in buildings. Footprints could be followed by humans or by zombies, which means could be used to set traps. Footprints could fade after set time, or fade after storm when out of doors, Footprints could gradually fade out after say 20+ steps since dirt will eventually leave shoes. Footprints could be customized to the shoe type so you could look for sneakers, boots, etc. Footprints could only show up on roads or buildings after crossing from dirt. Footprints could give you a visible indicator of search pattern in a building (missed rooms) Footprints could be limited to wet boots/shoes to encourage player to stay out of mud/water. Footprints also add to the creepy factor when you're getting visible signs of prior traffic. Really crazy idea would be to cut notch in boots, then follow that specific patttern for tracking.

Fix server hopping by simply spawning them back at the beach. I think a few good long walks would cure a hopper. Tougher fix would be to make it impossible to pick up anything in a building you've previously been in within that character life. Please someone reply and tell me it's an alpha. Those are my favorite replies.

I can spawn in and find a dozen in under 10 minutes. The storage buildings with the 3 or double door garages are just littered with them. Never actually found a military helmet. -
I doubt you'd try to knock yourself unconscious. That would more likely happen accidentally if you put one in water to use on someone else, then accidentally drank it. That would be your stupid tax. As for using it on others, I would love to do that to the a$$hats that KoS. Either by getting KIA and having it looted off of me, or giving it to them in a robbery would be the goal. THen they get to stare at the screen, or forces them to quit and that kills them. I like the idea of the water "This tastes funny..." Then "I'm getting tired..." Then vision blurs, then you're unconscious. Effect kicking in over 10 minutes. Perhaps before full effect you take the charcoal pill to counteract. Maybe you could run to a water source in the few minutes and drink yourself till vomiting, thus cancelling the knock out. Also might give the victim a chance to extract their revenge if the person that did it to them is sticking around. In Arma you can drag or carry unconscious or wounded. This could also be done with drugged player. You could knock someone out in a kidnapping and be able to carry/drag them off. Who knows if they'd do it. As i recall, Rocket was interested in ideas that enhance the player to player experience.

What do you mean by check option on food? I just thought you'd drag and drop the pill bottle onto the food to spike it, then pick the amount in the pulldown, then there's nothing you can see or smell to tell after that it's been spiked.

Please consider adding sleeping pills as an object, then be able to 1) consume 1 to go unconscious (not sure why you would do this), or force feed them to other to make them go unconscious (for kidnapping, revenge, blood harvest, fun) 2) consume 2+ to kill yourself (suicide), or force feed them to other to kill them (banditry/murder, or revenge for banditry/murder) 3) crumble and add 1 to water to make whoever drinks it fall unconscious 4) crumble and add 2+ to water to make whoever drinks it die 5) crumble and add 1 to food to make whoever drinks it fall unconscious *cannot poison canned food without opening it 6) crumble and add 2+ to food to make whoever drinks it die *cannot poison canned food without opening it This would add new element to banditry, and possibility of betrayals. More importantly, I would poison a food or water item in my inventory so that if I was robbed/murdered then the person getting it would have to be careful. If I poisoned it and then forgot and ate/drank it, shame on me. Edit: 1) Add idea to kick in effects over a few minutes. First the water "This tastes funny..." Then 5 min "I'm getting tired..." I feel like I'm in the biker apocalypse. Please spawn fewer motorcycle helmets. I think people are wearing them because it's the only form of armor. Perhaps it wouldn't be worn so much if there was a downside like 1) not being able to shoulder a weapon, and/or 2) not able to see through gun optics and/or 3) severely reduced hearing and/or 4) reduced visibility in first person 5) disallow headlamp
