  1. DayZ is what it is, because if you die - you die(!) and that includes loosing all the gear you had.

If you could just faceroll your keyboard and stroll around the map acting like a shooting target, and don't be afraid of dying and loosing your gear, then you could play Call of Duty or Battlefield and spawn with all the gear available to you.

The game is about not knowing what comes next, and being cautious interacting with people, terrain and choosing your path across your story.

    Cheers.

  2. Oh lord.. I just realised that my character is sitting in a train cart in Svetlojarsk! Just recognized the bay which I was standing at yesterday. xD

No wonder it was such a long run..

Beautiful looking town, looks very organic and with a decent amount of zombies actually.

Would be cool if they expanded the map far far and beyond. :)

  3. Have you played the mod? If yes, then you should know that vehicles make it that more fun. Yes it makes you travel faster, and maybe skip alot of stuff/loot, but that's just positive for the next couple of lads trying to loot that spot you missed. But being picked up by strangers on the coast, just to find out they want to kidnap you when you're inside their car is just priceless.

Like the others point out, fuel must be somewhat rare to find, even though I think gas stations should let you refuel anyway. (Edit: Maybe not even gas stations just to make fuel that more rare)

But no vehicles should spawn "pristine". You should at least work for it to make vehicles work. Fix tires, fix engine parts etc etc. Just like the mod, just better. :)

But really, I have no doubt the dev team would want every survivor cruising around the map in vehicles anyway, so I see no reason to worry.

  4. I have clouds disabled to get significantly better fps all over the map.

I never play at night, because I would play with a flashlight and be scared as hell, and being constant afraid of getting spotted by other players long before I see them because of the Brightness/Gamma thingy.

So to answer your question - I haven't noticed. xD

What I have noticed though, is that the range of dark colors vary alot when having HDR from VeryLow to Low. Especially at night.

  5. Very cool animations, which brings a new immersion to being injured and in need of help, but also as your life as a field medic spotting injured players at a distance.

This game is gonna be sooooooooooo good..

Really excited for the next year of development! And with the pace the dev team is putting for the day, we're likely to get a very (very!) pleasent experience playing this Alpha/Beta.

  6. I don't think an area for long time survivors would benefit anything. Why would the survivors even enter that area if it's harder to survive there, and there's less loot?

What I would like to see, is some kind of statistics on my "main" screen before I login.

Like "Days Survived: xx" (Think actual days in game, so it's not statistics farming when offline) and "Health Status: xxxx"

I know I would have my adrenaline pumping even before I'm logged in to the game, if I see my character with a "19 days survived (IN GAME!)" and "Health Status: Starving, Dehydrated", and maybe even current health status animations of my character with the worn/torn clothes (Bleeding if you're bleeding?).

Just like the character you have before you login now - just with the health status animations.

Because then I'd propably remember where I was the last time I logged out, and I'd be prepared for the condition my character was in.

  7. Right.. So not so stable anyway..

    From a stream moments ago..

Language is Danish. Don't mind the jibberish..

    Thing is:

    Friend got shot

Wanted to find his killer so rushed an open field to get closer to his location.

I had a friend following me right behind who got the same error.

DayZ.exe has made an illegal action, and has shutdown.

After rejoining, I became a respawn..

    Also reporting this into BugReport.

    Cheers.

  8. More zombies will come. This will cause a bigger threat for lone wolf or 2 player teams in big cities.

What would stop the lone wolf from KoS other players? They could have medical supplies?

The fact that FarmerJohn camping out in his barn up north of Electro, with his Shotgun and his cigar in his mouth - killing all trespassers will (and should tbh) never change. (This could be one player' role-playing game, other people see it as KoS)..

Some day FarmerJohn wants some more liquor, and he heads into Electro to pick up that good'ol'booze.

There's zombies, yes, but FarmerJohn has lots of slugs for his Shotgun, so 10-20-30 zombies isn't an issue.

FarmerJohn won't hesitate to shoot people he see in Electro. He's out for liquor and more cigarets, not friendly human encounters..

Kill on sight will never stop, and why should it? :)

If a group of 3-4 people just want to loot military loot, and rob/force-feed/kill people they see while they play, that's their style of playing.. Nothing wrong with that..

If you're the friendly survivor, who want's to meet friendly people, I suggest being very cautious about your surroundings, and staying away from fx. Military Groups storming Electro/Cherno or Military Bases.

Alot of people cry about the fact that they've gathered alot of gear, but getting killed is their own fault as they juuuuust want to see what could be inside the barracks at Balota.

They end up getting killed, because you're NOT likely to find friendly encounters such places.. It..Will..Never..Change..

Some people will trick you into believing that they're friendly, but they're not. Well, that's the reason why DayZ is what it is. :) Brilliant.

  9. Haha I remember the first time I shot someone in the mod.

Suddenly there was this guy in front of me, and some people have been shooting after me ealier that night. So I rolled the dice, and believed that killing him with the Lee Enfield was the only thing to do. Better to be safe than sorry. But man.. When he dropped and he typed in global: "Why didn't you try to talk to me instead man", I got really sad, and was like - oh man... I could've made a "friend"..

After that, I'm being friendly to everyone I see, but being cautious of my surroundings in the mean time.

But it's horrible how the human nature is.. I've killed alot of players since that first guy, and every time it gets easier..

So anyway, enough rambling.. Just wanted to let you know, that I know how you feel. xD

Edit: And this is just the reason DayZ is the game it is - Brilliant.. Standalone Alpha, Beta, Release or the Mod, doesn't matter.

The emotions you can experience in this game, is like no other if you're not cold and cynical all the time. xD

    Cheers.

  10. 20 seconds is not long enough tbh..

Maybe there should be some kind of "If you fired your weapon or have gotten shot upon, then the timer is 1-2 minutes". If you're wandering around in the woods and some player comes out of a bush saying "Wakawaka!" and you decide to alt+f4 because you're afraid of human encounters, then your body will stand there for yea.. 20 seconds, which would be enough for the player right next to you to either let you live, or kill you as the coward you are.
