A look at one of the new zombie models
Jonah_Hobbes replied to haknslash's topic in General Discussion
Been playing a fair bit of LifeLine and I agree the freaks are certainly not too over-powered, just not decided yet if I'd like to see them in DayZ though - probably not. -
Temperature effects are broken since hotfix

You'd be surprised out how much damage somebody who has never split wood before can do to an axe handle. Mishits and trying to cut into silly bits of wood will do damage particularly just beneath the head of the axe. -
Not new just a couple of questions

Reporting back for Duty. -
Haha! that's answered my question

Just appeared near a massive city up near the old North East Airfield but it's empty of Z's. I'm still geared. Questions: The new city is new right so that's why it's Z free? KOS still a problem? Is the SKS still cool? Is the CCSD still active?

Not played much recently so I'm a little out of touch but I've just put in a few hours last night and today. I've seen a few posts on here freaking out about the Zombie aggro and that it's impossible to loot anywhere. I'm loving it. You can take out the infected perfectly well with your fireaxe and carry on looting if you don't rock into town and blaze away with your guns. Guns now seem pretty much for PVP only. I like the scarcity of loot, very TWD. You've survived for awhile now and finding useful stuff is getting harder. It took me about 2 hours to find a shirt to replace my zombie-damaged tactical shirt. SKS ammo is very rare with the new guns that have been implemented so that's why I'm even less likely to shoot up zombies. The new Zombies have the feel of the Mod about it which means they are a bugger to shake. The only draw back is less players seem to be around. Also anyone used the hoe yet in melee combat?

Anyone actually enjoying the game more at the mo?
Jonah_Hobbes replied to Jonah_Hobbes's topic in General Discussion
I was playing on very low pop servers, (most aussie servers are low pop these days). The places I visited were not looted. Food and drink is plentiful but finding non-bugged shirts and ammo was very hard. I ended up with a Grunge look until I found another tactical shirt. -
Is there a way to practice shooting?

Stand near the pumps at gas/petrol stations and shoot them repeatedly. Trying emptying 60 rounds from an M4. -
Hey I'm man enough to admit that in DayZ I have Climacophobia/stepnophobia. Factories are fine, but anything involving ladders, no way until it's more stable. This toon has survived an age and that's largely down to not playing Parkour on buggy rooftops.

I agree with that about adding balance. My point was that from what I've read The Infected are still very much alive like 28 days or to a lesser extent Romero's The Crazies, (the remake sucks). You can't really define what a zombie will or won't be. Brooks navigated the whole dead falling to pieces thing by letting the virus offer the dead some protection from decay, (think the virus slows it), Hence they could last for years. in Romero films zombies can be killed. In the O'Bannon film they are pretty much impossible to kill unless you incinerate them. From what I remember, been years since I seen them, Fulci's zombies were pretty hard to kill also. In Frankenstein the reanimated corpse looks like everyone else and in Lovecraft's awesomely funny Herbert West - Re-animator one of the dead carries his head around ("Jump, Ronald, for God's sake, jump!" - haha fantastic!) Clark Ashton Smith in the Colussus of Ylourgne had the dead... ahh I won't spoil it for you... When I was a lad there was more to zombies than just Romero, 28 days and The Walking Dead you know...grumble grumble. Basically you can't, without creating more of a back story, attribute any of the laws of physics to what a zombie/infected is or can do

It's not a rotting corpse though, it's an infected human. I dunno what folk are moaning about, they are now about as hard as they were in the Mod. I think it makes it more interesting. Guns now are for bandits and axes are for killings Z's.

So why are all you guys climbing to the top of buildings? Just to enjoy the views? It's been well known since the game came out that Buggering about on top of buildings is risky and if you are sniping then it's a risk you have to take until it gets fixed.
-
Yeah but you are much less likely to aggro them with a fireaxe. I was looting a small town near Stary, killed a Z with the axe and a few more spawned and I just quietly went around and knocked them off before exiting town. OK I picked up one when leaving but the key is currently is to loot 2-3 buildings max and then get the f*ck out of Dodge. What is a concern is the Ninja-silent zombies that appeared when I exited a building - nasty.

Was being chased by the blonde zombie chick in the pink skirt she does her new leap attack, (you could learn something from her Barbarian from Diablo) and then she just drops dead. Fairly sure no one shot her. Breaking line of sight does not work either. Was being chased by a zombie that looks, walks and acts uncannily like my brother, the one in the checked shirt with the beard. He followed me for ages and I used old Mod tactics of zig-zagging and breaking line of sight, I stop to check the damage from my kit and there he is again standing behind me.

Sorry I've had very little time to play recently, is this item working as intended yet?

Gun cleaning kit do they work yet?

cheers mate :) -
Close doors then leave a half eaten can of tuna lying around. That was my calling card for awhile.

I've just noted, (having had a work-induced break), that Zombies/infected seem to be getting their hits in more regularly which makes them more tricky to take down hand to hand. Anyone else notice this?

Never had any real problems with the accuracy of this gun
