Trying getting close to a wall/where the wall should be vaulting sideways and exiting and re-entering the game immediately - it worked for me. -
I have an idea for helping with the KOS problem. Rocket should read.

I think empathy is overrated when you look at certain parts of our globe where poverty, starvation and violence is rife. Life is very cheap in certain countries and although we as westerners would probably be pretty supportive of each other at the start of the outbreak I think once we'd settled on our own little packs we would quite happily pillage and kill others. Look at Rwanda, the Khmer Rouge, Serbia, Bosnia etc. Power and survival. The case of R v Dudley and Stephens 1884 springs to mind - shipwrecked and starving at sea Dudley and two others decided to slit the throat of their colleague Parker so they could eat him. As Dudley later commented: "I can assure you I shall never forget the sight of my two unfortunate companions over that ghastly meal we all was like mad wolfs who should get the most and for men fathers of children to commit such a deed we could not have our right reason." I think you have to stop judging things through your current circumstances - yes I know there is plenty of research out there that suggests the extreme reluctance of soldiers to kill but then you hear accounts of soldiers killing again and again so they can survive. If I ended up in a DayZ world I would not be surprised at all if some if not most packs of survivors resorted to a KOS mentality. Wouldn't be straight away but I reckon it would not be long in coming. Also.not all anti-depressants have a sedating effect and most people would have no idea how to medicate themselves safely on them. -
The chance of friendlies are higher up North. Do you agree?
Jonah_Hobbes replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I've not spoken to anyone since the Alpha came out either. We either just ignore each other - usually noob on noob. Any other time it's just violence. In fact I'm not even sure how to communicate without Teamspeak. What is it backslash and type? Who is going to type in this current climate? -

Yeah and I got some dude hitting me with his axe whilst I was eating tuna outside of Stary so I don't think it matters where you are. The fact is I have not met a single friendly players for a couple of weeks now. I wasted the guy - but I'm going to have to hold up in some sleepy town with a well as he injured me pretty badly. -
I am Legend or Omega Man - despite hanging around both Elektro and Cherno. I'm not finding anyone. Not that I wanna kill anyone but there is nobody out there. I know our populations can be a little on the low side but where the heck is everyone? Guess I need to head to Balota, etc. Any other players finding this around my neck of the woods?

I was going to make that point also, all the 1sts moaning about 3rds cheat and exploits but I've not see anyone raise an eyebrow that suddenly you can have a bionic eye by right-clicking the mouse. I''ve played virtually all 3rd as I get seasick and never really got that it was an exploit. I've just started playing 1st to test it out and what I've noted is that in 1st travel is horrible, you run around like a Long John Silver wannabe. Physically It's ok as although I do quickly develop a slight headache, I'm sure that will pass. Killing zombies is far less of a drain in ammo during Ist as is melee as your accuracy is so much higher. I've not managed an engagement with a player yet but one on one, outside a building say in a street a 1st against a 3rd should win 75% of the time due to accuracy. What about having 3rd person as a travel mode only? You can't fire your gun or use your axe in travel mode. To switch out you have a slight delay therefore lessening any advantage. Also as soon as you stop it immediately reverts to 1st. -
In my opinion, the current compass is an example of over-design.

Shouldn't that read "Badly Damaged" rather than "broken"? -

I actually don't use it as intended and just when I'm running along I click "inspect" in inventory check my bearing, stop and change direction if needed and then carry on running. I don't lose why gun/axe or whatever then. -

I tend to use 3rd person and have for most games I've played as I get horrible, horrible motion-sickness. There were those Sherlock Holmes and Lovercraft ist person games that would have me reaching for the sick bucket in 10mins and even stopping playing the feeling of neusea will persist for hours. Ditto the terrible State of Decay port to PC. TBH it never really occured to me to see it as an advantage as it just well never occured to me. I assumined everyone was playing in 3rd person. (I'm obviously not a big FPS player can you tell)? I don't even use 1st in combat! I can hear people saying go and play W0W or Resi or something, But I like this game and I reckon there are a lot of players like me out there. I will go and try 1st just to experiment, so I reduce head bob yes? -

Getting Stuck in Buildings in Standalone Solution. Rather than starving yourself try this, someone posted it here but I can't find it. Got stuck yesterday at the airfield building ground floor near where the prison cell is. I was trying to reload my M4 as a Zed went to lunge at me and I got stuck sort of between the inside and outside of the building whilst backing away from it. Sorry don't have access to pics atm, but the building was semi-transparant. Rolling, crouching, strafing nothing worked, nor did changing server or exiting and entering the game. What did work was standing close to where the wall should have been and pressing sideways and vault and exiting and entering the game quickly. I was moved slightly forward to where I had been originally standing but totally able to move and play on. -
So I can use DayZ commander on the Standalone or am I'm in the wrong forum?

I'm having this too. I have tried verifying my cache but to no avail. Any Devs have a suggestion?
