Totally agree but I was replying to Conan and his post about medication and real life. God yeah I love finding pain killers although I'm not finding them as effective as in the mod but as you've said the whole injury/illness/treatment system is very messed up at the mo. Still I don't think it will be first on the list to be fixed as there are more important bugs to be ironed out.

Well it depends on which type of AB you use You are much more likely to get GI upsets with Amoxyclillin than you are Flucloxacillin as they do different jobs. Some people don't get side effects from Amoxy at all some do. Fluclox probably a rash would be the most common thing you'd get so hardly the end of the world. Alcohol tincture - I reckon with zombie scratches it would sting a bit but the alcohol is only really used as a base for the tincture so it would depend on what the tincture is made of. I've used medi-swabs, (alcohol based injection site swabs - frowned upon these days as the can make the skin sting when the needle goes in), loads of times to clean up scratches.and minor cuts that I've got at work. Also alcohol based hand sanitizers too are handy to clean up a cut. I fully understand it's an alpha. If I was scratched by a zombie if the only thing I had at hand was alcohol then I'd be pouring it on the wound and would fully expect to curse a bit. Bearing in my though that during my last infection control training - it was suggested that alcohol is not that great at killing germs - bleach now that's a different story.

I just drag my axe into my hands which resets the canteens. Swapping over canteens doesn't seem to work and is bugged. Anyone got a better suggestion?

Yeah it happens but it's usually not seen as a good idea to log out inside one of the AF or military buildings . As you log in It takes a few moments for you to load and you announce to everyone near by that you've arrived by the ammo re-loading sound. Also if you've switched to a different server you have no idea who is down stairs or outside because you've not been able to check it out. ThePieking beat me to it.

Some guy left a pristine scope for a Mosin which I'd been after for days. He must have already had one or was using an M4 - still amazed it was left there.

I once control, alt, deleted to check the dayZ map in the middle of nowhere but close to a road and when I came back, (having taken a quick pee), I was unconscious with a zombie having a nibble on me. A couple of days ago I went into the top room of the NEAF and found 2 standing in the room with the door closed. Not sure if someone lured them in and logged or it was a bug. You never can tell. I hope they do randomly spawn in the wilderness, you should never feel safe wherever you are.

The trouble with this though is if you apply the alcohol it will tell you eventually that your wounds are clean. So healthy or not you still seem to have wounds. I just put up with the sick status until I'm totally fixed up.

There are a few out there that camp in rooms at the airfields. Basically when you get to the airfield take a few minutes to check things out. Doors closed? Any zombies about? You could still have a hopper or Snipers that have not aggro'd the Z's. Secondly if the place looks unlooted still be on your guard I once relaxed when I thought I was the only one who'd been there - I ended up dead. You cannot be sure all you can do is have your weapon ready with as much ammo crammed in as you can. I tend to shot first and ask questions later. If you don't have a gun just go for them with the axe if you are quick enough all it takes is two blows. You'd be surprised at how many players freeze. I see a few people with no ammo have their gun on display - most folk will still open up so at least with an axe you have a chance. At the end of day though, if you hang around the military bases or airfields you'll get killed eventually. That's why I hope they increase weapon, scopes, spawns etc, over more places not just the bases. .

Many Pacific Islanders can open any can with a kitchen knife in about 5 seconds - amazing, scary but very impressive to watch.

Just taken me around 3 hours to find one axe. This is not because buildings have been looted all the outbuildings seem to contain rather a lot of motorcycle helmets. Inside it's beanies. Now I know Chernasusians love their bike helmets and beanies but come on?? Also there seems to be s slight increase zombies hanging around. Wondered if anyone else is experiencing this? More zombies less axes? I've found this on 3 different servers. I'm all for making them game tougher, happy with more Z's as long as it stays realistic. A huge number of buildings graphically have chimneys therefore you would expect a lot of those houses/buildings would contain axes rather than motorcycle helmets. Hopefully soon they'll sort out damage for crowbars and wrenches, etc. I reckon you could down even an infected in 6 - 7 blows some are taking over 15. Not moaning still loving it just an observation.

I'd have to agree about actually putting movies together - Carpenter is head and shoulders above GAR. But for sheer scale of vision then George just hit the nail on the head and got the zeigest, (stupid term), totally right. I watched DoftD on Betamax for the first time close to 8 years after the movie was made when I was about 10. I watched it to death and got the message pretty much 2 or 3 viewings in. OK the 80's were an age when I reckon kids where a bit more clued up on politics - impending death through nuclear destruction will do that. But I think DoftD is a beautiful movie and made zombies zombies. If JC had not existed then we would have lost my fav horror flim. But if G.A.R had not lived then we wouldn't be playing Dayz.

No matter how much I love Romero I'd caution some sort of meet up. His last projects, I know funding is an issue, have been weak and I don' t think he is adding anything new to the concept of the undead. His films used to be mirrors to hold up to the face of society his latter stuff far less so. It's actually sad that Dan O'Bannon is not around. Return of the Living Dead is a masterpiece, (lets face it "brains" made it into the mainstream). Fulci and Argento are somewhat overrated IMO and although some films are fun they never left me with the same satisfaction as Romero, O'Bannon or John Carpenter. Carpenter is one of the most underrated directors alive - The Thing probably shares the award for the best horror film ever made with Dawn of the Dead. Again Carpenter's latter works have been weak like Romero's. I think it has been a tragedy that Hollywood was so short sighted as to not back these guys in their prime. Gaming isn't a subculture anymore and hasn't been since Laura Croft and WOW. if you don't agree just look at the last 10 years of Hollywood blockbusters - many have taken or based their ideas on games. Sub culture has gone mainstream look at comic books and graphic novels. Sorry honorable mention to Peter Jackson - BrainDead anyone?? Fantastic. This whole zombie thing? From what I remember George would have used "Living Dead" but had an agreement with O'Bannon not to use it. Dan used it himself which was cool. I think Romero accepted the whole zombie thing cuse it got him funding and why not?

Server reboot, and that means loot, on my fav server I'm at the NE airfield in the tower. I know it's dodgy but with some red wine I'm like 'in and out" - looking for a scope for a Mosin for my ultimate build. Have a complete M4 I mean pristine complete. Anyhow I'm at the top of the tower hear someone enter/log inside the building down stairs. I said "You can f*off I'm armed" target the the stairwell, guy shows up,I put in around 30 rounds into him, ( I'm a fan of Sam Peckinpah movies), which this guy shrugs off and he kills me with one shot. now that stung. I'm thinking prone is not the way to go for close combat even with height advantage. .Now I was not sh*tfaced just perky from wine, I've killed players one on one so I don't lose my nerve. Ah well chalk it up to exp. The bases/airfields will always kill ya.
