    Suggestion: Identification

Hello, So I have been playing Dayz standalone since the day it became available to me on steam. I have been having a lot of fun, and spend most of my time playing with friends, and have come across the problem of identification. Sometimes identifying another player, not associated with your group, can be easy. Other times it can be a bit hard, and i find my self extremely paranoid/worried that I have stumbled across another player who may be hostile. Personally I am not in the habit of killing people on sight, rather i prefer to avoid them if possible and simply deter them from advancing towards me with the threat of a shootout. Dayz features the ability to customize your player and more often than not people end up looking relatively the same, wearing an off shade of green camo, a gas mask/biker helmet/military helmet, and a large backpack of varying color. Because of the general preference to not look like a street cone people avoid the orange raincoats, which are the only article of clothing which it is easy identify a player. So this for me sparked the idea i have spent the last few lines leading up to. IDEA. An interesting feature the game could allow for would be the ability to wear identifying arm bands. We have all seen it the resistance wearing the red arm band. However for simplicity's sake i believe this could be done using the already implemented object of the headband. These headbands already come on a variety of appearances and allowing a player to equip them onto their arm would allow for one to identify someone they are teemed up with, a simply glance at the player, are they wearing a yellow/blue/red band or not?. However this does not mean the player is safe, an observant bandit could simply equip a matching arm band and mix himself in with the crowd. Thank you for reading my suggestion. Hunt3rForce Feel free to leave a comment below, :) Let me know what you think, I am open to criticism. (even if its to tell me "great idea" or "that is stupid")

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you guys like the idea. The recent updates have brought many changes, many items and much more fun.
  3. So the recent update released on the first or second of January 2014, I have noticed that my in game text has become extremely blurry/fuzzy. My video settings have not changed since prior to the update (but the text sharpness has) and i have even tried changing them as well as the resolution. However this has yet to yield any results...is this a common problem? can i fix it? If so i would greatly appreciate your help, because i can not seem to find a solution. This is a screenshot i took of the in game inventory showing the blurry text. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=211843483 thank you, Hunt3rForce edit: (message)
  4. interesting idea.... This is the only issue, however they plan to add a base building feature if i am correct which will exist as underground instances, due to above ground space limit-ability, im sure these do not simply reset with the server, perhaps implementing something similar to these in these underground bases like "light up my hovel" or whatever. Either way the game is just gonna keep getting better

I'm interested to see what exactly is planned for the future of this game, i know to expect cars/vehicles as well as a form of base building, but i do not know much in terms of what is coming clothing wise. I hope this is at least considered.

Running Dayz on Mac through BootCamp

When you install through bootcamp it will include the support software, which also includes the drivers for your various hardware, if they do not work correctly upon startup find the support software, for me i used a flash drive containing the os, in this case it was on the flashdrive (USB) under a folder called bootcamp, in there are all the support files for the drivers which you can use to manually install any that do not apply correctly. However this should not be an issue. Also if you are looking for a guide when you start the process it will ask if you want the setup guide, you can save this and either email it to open on another device or print it, however the process is really straightforward

exactly why i love this, it would be quite simple to implement, or so i believe, simply allowing bandannas or as someone suggested rags to be worn upon the arm would allow for more customize-ability and identifiability

The RV engine is the worst engine ever made.

I completely disagree with you, you sir are uninformed. What rocket ha don't is anything but lazy, they spent a whole year making their own engine, basically turning an fps engine into an mmo one, as for the issues you are seeing in the standalone this is partly because the game is quite stripped down, they have launched the alpha so they can identify these problems, not to provide a complete game much like the disclaimer states, this is also the reason why atm you do not see any vehicles and only 4 weapons. If you look into various statements made by them they clearly say why they did not use arma 2 or even arma 3 as a base engine, they explain the various benefits why they created their own. The alpha test which clearly containts the disclaimer that you should not expect a full game, and should expect plenty of bugs, is established to test the engines capability, stability and bug hunting that developers wouldn't find or look for. This is essentially a stress test. If i could give you negative beans i would, i would go bandit and steal them all, because you are so quick to jump to a conclusion.

This i do not doubt, however I'm unsure of what is on the way specifically and think something like this would be a nice addition.

Once again you are par for the course, the ability to create emblems works well for certain games, however it also creates the possibility of mis-use as well as potentially marginalizing the solo player. With the advent of spray paint i could imagine the ability to simply spray something of a solid color, or perhaps a rough camo pattern. I do not imagine there will be a lot of highlighter colors due to the fact that it will clash with the games current asthetic.

Suggestion: Bolt Cutters and Bladder (W/Pictures)

Interesting idea, bolt cutters i think would stand less of a chance of being added because all fenced areas have holes in them already, additionally since the plan, as far as i know, is for the bases to be underground instances than their would be no barbed wire for above ground bases.

Yeah, it would make sense, to accompany the base building they inevitably wish to add. Which may also be where something like the paint may com into play, however i do not think people would be too keen on finding cans of paint or dye instead of beans, especially early game

Running Dayz on Mac through BootCamp

It certainly would, I am using windows 7 64bit home premium, on a 2012 13 inch mac-book pro, I5 processor 4gb ram 1600hz, intel HD400. I installed windows through boot camp, and i can run Dayz on low settings at a comfortable frames

    Suggestion: Identification

I completely agree, its a very important aspect of the game. However what i think makes this idea so useful is that it requires everyone in the group to have a matching arm band, and since they would be objects someone else could just as easily stumble upon one, and fit right in. Depending upon the scenario you may not have time to check for an armband, or they may be turned away not allowing you to draw a line of sight to it. I do not think such a system would completely remove the requirement for voice communication between friends, however i think it would create more cohesive and distinguishable groups.

These ideas certainly would be interesting, but I am hoping for something that allows you to identify your friends should you be playing in a group. However it would be interesting, to handcuff/restrain a player, and you may then decide to kill them or steal their stuff based on their record displayed there.
