That is a good point. I really think having a campfire sub-forum is a good idea. At the very least I will stop lashing out at thread makers...
-
But it is my LIFEBLOOD I might be in a bit of a forum crusader mood today, I'm sorry for being so hostile, but I really don't see what the point of this thread is. Why is this thread ´´enjoyable´´? I get to hear all the time of how people like these die, because for some reason people feel a strange obligation to post about it in general discussion. I just don't see the point. What do we get out of this? Can't we talk about new stuff instead? Things that we have not said before? Also, I find it a bit funny that I apparently now am being appointed to a pseudo-mod, because I have been in danger of being banned many times on other forums for disobedience... But after all, you have no right to complain, since you can choose to NOT READ everything I write. That automatically means that I am allowed to post anything, we all know that. (no wait I am still stupid and wrong)
-
Well I shouldn't speak for the community, but I highly doubt anyone is getting anything out of a person posting about how he killed someone in DayZ. Really. There are so many things to talk about, so many interesting stories to be told Why do we have to red about this, again?
-
Once again, general discussion, doesn't mean you get to post anything. If the subject is of little interest to the community and has been discussed before, you can always go and brag somewhere else, like your parents or girlfriend. They will also probably be relatively more interested in the subject than the community, which currently feels rather bored because it currently is reading the fourth thread this week about how someone killed someone in DayZ.

So I just got owned by my nephew(almost)
eleventhavenue replied to Apocrypha8's topic in General Discussion
There is something wrong in posting because you want to post. I am sorry if you feel insulting by us ´´resorting´´ to something. -
Comrade Donstealmycheese, you are triple posting now. If you want the mods to stop being mean to you, stop being evil sabotage anarchy partisan please. Also, what is your suggestion? Trains? Trains that we craft? We already have threads for this...

eleventhavenue replied to Apocrypha8's topic in General Discussion
What's with all these threads about minor things? I think first impressions and such should be appreciated by the community, but there's a lot of people who make a 3-sentence thread about how they killed a guy and he had a LRS mosin. Why? -
Players need to make a sound when combat logging
eleventhavenue replied to infiltrator's topic in Suggestions
I don't think a panic sound would fit. When would the game even know if it's a combat situation? Any solution to that is too taxing on the sevrers, atleast that's what I've heard. I would like sleepy sounds when logging out. You know yawn, and then snoring when the 30 seconds are almost complete. You shouldn't be logging out in a combat situation anyways. -
Look, he killed someone in DayZ.

Size Battle: Chernarus vs Middle Earth
eleventhavenue replied to Johnny Depth's topic in General Discussion
Wat. I think there is map-creation tools, is there not? Can you not, eh, try to make middle-earth yourself? Is that cool? -
Why are you against many military items in game?
eleventhavenue replied to CrazyCorky's topic in General Discussion
I'm sorry for nit picking, but this isn't russia! Stop calling Chernarus Russia. It is not Russia. Gee... I think the ammo vs. guns discussion is an interesting and important one, but I'm not sure that ammo really would be the most scarce thing... atleast not 7.62x54 ammo... but I don't know, what makes the game itself work best should be the factor that decides this. There is a way in which the entire army would be wiped out, for example if 99% of the fighting men would be infected. Or any other number. Saying ´´there is no way in which the military forces of the world would be defeated by infection´´ is stupid IMHO. -
Why are you against many military items in game?
eleventhavenue replied to CrazyCorky's topic in General Discussion
Because military stuff is boring. A progression straight from Freshspawn to someone dressed as a mechanized infantry soldier is boring. Heading straight to the military zones when you have just enough stuff to survive is boring. Having only good guns is not only boring, it also makes all the bad weapons useless, and turns the game into a military simulator. In my vision of a finished DayZ, military areas would be an area that most players would ignore, just like most players ignore the two-room wooden houses right now. Sure, can get some pretty sweet stuff, but obviously military areas are picked clean (if all the armies now intervened and somehow got horribly defeated, would you really think all the barracks and ATC's would be littered with guns and ammunition?) Why bother with a sniper rifle LMG or assault rifle, with rare ammunition, easy to jam, hard to maintain? A ballistic helm or a kevlar vest surely protects you, especially from more primitive weapons, but they're heavy, so you're not going to be able to carry food, water and medical supplies with it, atleast not while moving at a high speed... Of course, a squad of players kitted out in military gear would be pretty fearsome, but it wouldn't be something an ordinary player would be searching for. A Vintovka Mosina kills just as well, after all. As for military defeat, what would you think would happen if 99% (feel free to choose a number to your fitting) of the world's population would become infected? From what I know of the lore, the disease spreads like any other, and it spreads before the symptoms start showing up. There must be some kind of breaking point, where society would collapse. -
It is a poor, rural area of a poor post-soviet country. It's a border area, therefore the militarization... Who would go to all the stadiums and casinos? Chernogorsk doesn't look like it has more than just barely a thousand inhabitants...

This has been suggested before. It is also coming, with the map updates...

"Realism" and a fine line between fun and it being too much.
eleventhavenue replied to Nibashe's topic in General Discussion
The day I die to SOMETHING other than a glitch or someone shooting me 10 times, I might start considering if the other features of the game is ´´too much´´. (It is not too much right now) -
Well if there's going to be ´´fake tents´´, then atleast I hope that they are spawn points for loot...
-
Just died of heart attack, incredibly stupid
eleventhavenue replied to schofie1d's topic in General Discussion
Oh come on... truly the heart attacks are not random? Either they are glitched or they are a result of some sort of msiudnerstanding. Do we even know exactl what causes this? -
Bows that work like Skyrim? Aghragr Why not guns that work like call of duty?
-
I don't get all this talk about ´´skill´´. Why does it matter, really? 3PP players are doing really great. Since Hardcore was added, I haven't spotted a single periscope sniper because they're all on 3PP servers (obviously). Good for me!
-
Sadly I must agree... why surrender so that they can handcuff you, take your stuff and then feed you rotten food? If you draw your gun then the worst thing that happens is that they shoot you, ruin all your stuff and get nothing, while you die. If you're lucky you might even get away or pop one of the bandits...

WOAH.. Any1 else read this article? Just found it
eleventhavenue replied to cenobite (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
This unit fails to compute. Is this a troll thread? Or a sneaky attempt to start a discussion? Or some kind of smear-campaign on the developer? I am confused... -
Incorrect reticle positioning is seriously confusing me
eleventhavenue replied to Estyles's topic in General Discussion
Lol ´´Poorly optimized´´ ´´amateurish´´ I know, Bohemia Interactive, the military simulation developers, are so stupid not to give accurate crosshairs to your invisible periscope aiming device M2014. Now you almost have to use weapon sights! (Or you can complain) -
I don't know, we have problems with parasites, water bacteria and such up here in the cold north too, I don't think it's impossible in Chernarus.

Cowboy hats - an invitation to shoot on sight?
eleventhavenue replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
Look, it's a couple of americans fighting over what kind of americans are best, in a thread about cowboy hats. It's fascinating. On the topic of what group of people are best, I think we Gautr are superior to those cowardly horse-riding Sviar. In the name of Tyr! Oh wait, what was I writing about again... -
I think we should have a discussion on the Rarity and Distribution of vehicles
eleventhavenue posted a topic in General Discussion
So, with vehicles probably coming within 6 months, I think it's time to have a proper discussion on what effects on the gameplay we expect from vehicles and how they best should be implemented. We've had many threads in the suggestion forums focusing on a specific part of vehicles gameplay or suggesting the addition of certain vehicles but I would like to discuss things like how common vehicles should be, how much work they take to repair and keep in function, and how the vehicle types will be distributed. Will there be many bikes? Cars? Trucks? In my opinion, the far most common vehicle would probably be ordinary bikes. If you need to get out of reach of an area because of OMG ZEDS, then surely you would take a motor vehicle, I can't imagine that your first course of action would be to grab your old bicycle from the garage and bike away... As for car types, I think we all should remember that we are in South Zagoria, Chernarus isn't a rich country and especially not this region of Chernarus... I think most cars would be rather old, slow things. Old Soviet automobiles, and such. A rare UAZ that might still work nicely, and just a few slightly more modern, maybe european cars. I don't know, an old mercedes, maybe, or a Volkswagen. As for military vehicles, I think the CDF is a largely motorized militia force, so it would make sence to see a lot of trucks and UAZ's. Maybe some military garages would make a nice addition to the map? A working Ural 375 should be a rare, but useful find. I really don't want to see vehicular travel being the norm. I remember myself the feelings I had when I first experienced vehicle travel in the mod. I've played a lot of ordinary Arma 2, so it's not that I never had been in a vehicle before, but DayZ makes you look at Chernarus in a completely different way. I think that if vehicular travel is too common, then this feeling will disappear. Thoughts?
