Do you believe people who shoot on sight are terrible at DayZ?

I wish we could have a reasonable discussion about this topic, but it always keeps going around in circles... Always the same opinions, the same arguments... Gee, I think people even use the same adjectives to insult each other when their attempts at a calm discussion fails (as it usually does)...

    I've heard troubling rumours...(no helis)

One thing I don't understand: Why are there even weapons lying around in the barracks? It doesn't appear like there was much struggle (and why would there? Surely the military would move to defend the civilian population, not hole up in their poorly entrenched base), so why are there weapons and equipment in the bunk rooms and jail cells? Wouldn't all these either be in some kind of armory, or on the corpse of a dead CDF soldier on the road between Chernogorsk and Novigrad? And why does everyone think that the CDF even had armories bristling with MANPADS and parked T-72's? The campaign clearly establishes that the CDF is a volunteer militia force. The CDF does have armor in the form of a few T-72's and some BMP IFV's but it really doesn't seem like the CDF was well equipped with those. (also, the CDF gets defeated by communist insurgents in open battle). From the campaign, I think it seems like most of the CDF consists of a few AK-toting Ural riders, and the most advanced weapon you would find in a CDF armory would be a RPK-74. And also, even if there are advanced weapons, where would we learn to operate them? (we all know that skill books are never going to implemented, so don't pull that card please)

But the admins will have to not stand up to such abuse unless they want their server removed, and just because some people don't horde around all the stuff doesn't mean that hoarding isn't a problem... -- Here my arguments stop and my personal opinions starts -- I personally think that Helicopters were an artifact from Arma, a ´´cool thing´´ that was there because it could be added with very little effort, like the AS50's or NVG's. I don't think these things belong in SA. Some kind of light fixed-wing aircraft would be interesting in my opinion. A fixed-wing plane doesn't really give the same possibilities, an they're not armed (obviously).

Hey...I see you....put your hands up.....

Well, to be fair I haven't been victim of much bleach torture yet, I think my 3 latest deaths was falling from the ship, being shot by logging in while at what I thought was a safe spot, and being shot during a 1-minute desync... But when it comes to my ´´perception´´ of the community it is based on what my friends, me, and pretty much everyone else once and once again experience of this game. If you are nice to people after you tell them to drop their weapons, that's nice, but you might always ask for me to drop my weapon so that you can get it undamaged, or because you want me to do a fist fight against anohter survivor because apparently that's fun on Youtube, or maybe you want to do something else horrible. It is as you say, for every nice player, there is at least one who just wants to kill you. I don't aim this at you specifically, but something that makes me pretty angry (or at least disappointed) is when people are ´´friendly´´ and then they have their own personal list of lots of arbitrary things they want other people to do for them to not murder them horribly, like for example, having a rifle. Since as we all know, truly friendly people (with the exception of the list maker obviously) never carry firearms, or maybe it's the ballistic helmet, or an assault vest. Then they come to the forum and tell us all about how honourable they are, compared to the filthy KoS rabble who only wants to loot airfields, instead of playing the game ´´like it should be played´´. Also, I feel like you sometimes reason like everyone acts like you do. They don't. (just so you know that)

Hey...I see you....put your hands up.....

Oh come on, with the community like it is, surrendering would be VERY bad for your health. Your chances are higher if you run. I am very surprised that you come across people who willingly drop their weapons. (those people are very lucky that they came across you, at least) I don't really think it matters if you are different, not in terms of how random people would interact with you, at least.

    change the crosshair

I thought that the crosshair just was in the middle of the screen, independent of weapon movement...
  7. I say, have the hanged doctor in the garden of a house outside Krasnostav. I think we should honor one of the best (and glitchiest) FPS campaigns I've played. Also, I do want an Ural!

    3rd Person vs 1st Person?

That is too bad for them :) If their friends like periscope sniping, then maybe they should get other friends... Altough, to be a bit constructive, I think measures can be taken that reduces the amount of exploitation that can be done with 3pp. However, I don't personally feel any problem with it at all, as long as there are alternatives. Really the amount of sadistic murderers I've met has gone down by a huge amount since the addition of the hardcore hive. I really like how it is right now.

Hey...I see you....put your hands up.....

Well I don't know... if people would just drop their guns when threatened and I was an evil bandit sadist, I would take use of that, and since I then somehow think force feeding random people random stuff is fun... I am sure you understand why people might not drop their weapons when threatened, however nice you may be. If you come across geared players who regularly react in that way, then I am genuinely surprised, because every one on the forum and every encounter in-game has to me pointed that the general consensus of the players are to do exactly opposite of what you seem to think the right way to be friendly. I understand the need to control the situation, but forcing the player to surrender their weapons seems to me like an excellent way for two ´´friendlies´´to get into unnecessary combat with eachother.

    3rd Person vs 1st Person?

Indeed he won't because 1pp is on the hardcore server while 3pp is periscope sniping in elektro :) I don't think the problem with 3pp is unrealistic, in fact I don't think there is any problem with it at all as long as I get the alternative to play on a server where it is disabled for me and everyone else. Then the periscopers can have fun killing each other on a different server.

Hey...I see you....put your hands up.....

Yes, what you say is true. But how many friendlies have you met? Are you seriously meaning that if you come across an armed player and tell them to drop their gun, they comply? It's certainly easy to harass a geared player if you just made the player drop their gear...
  12. eleventhavenue

Hey...I see you....put your hands up.....

Well, I agree with you in theory, but, in my experience, you are going to meet no friendlies at all if you want them to drop their weapons. Lowering them or putting them on the back is something I understand that you would want to see them do, but no one is simply going to put their weapon on their ground. I think you need to consider a few things: Firstly, your ´´assurances´´mean nothing. You have played DayZ. You know. If I would trust people in the first place, I would have no problem with dropping my gun for the sake of peace. Really, surviving is nice. I want to live. I have a much greater chance of survival through not dropping my weapon. I think you see all of this from your view point, from your knowledge. If I drop my gun, I am completely at your mercy. Sure, you can be nice and not a crazed sadist, but how would I know? If I keep my gun, you might kill me, or maybe you are out of ammunition, want to threaten me with your gun, then handcuff me and feed me bleach, and then take all my pristine ammunition. Or you might be a horrible shot, which a lot of people seem to be in this game. Or you might understand that I believe you are going to handcuff me and feed me bleach, hold your fire for a few seconds and let me tell you why I do not drop my gun. That would be great.

Hey...I see you....put your hands up.....

Now you reason like those who justify random killing by ''knowing'' that they are ''hostile''. You can always do it, of course, but no, they have to come to the forum and tell us of their noble deeds... If I don't drop my gun (which I will not do for a rather obvious reason) then that does not make me ''hostile''. If you shoot me because I did not drop my gun on the ground, then you are hostile because you kill people for not dropping their guns, which no one will do (for a rather obvious reason). I ''might not as well'' drop my gun, because the most likely outcome of that is you handcuffing me and feeding me bleach. If you want to go around and murder everyone, no one can stop you from trying, but don't pretend that you are a ´´friendly´´ ´´honorable´´player that is misunderstood by the world and only want their fellow survivors to drop their guns so that we all can be peaceful...

    Toxic fumes surrounding military bases?

But why? Why do we need this stuff? Why can't we not have it, instead?

    2 Guns in your back

How about we add a weight system first? After that, I think people can run around with just as many guns as they want (altough I think there should be other limiting factors) Also, search function (it's amazing!)

    Book, wallet, paper...

    Nifty! :) I suggest a ´´Watch out for masked strangers´´

    Map in Cryllic?

The map may be based on the Czech republic (because, you know, the developers are czech, convenience) but Chernarussia really isn't czech. I think the spoken language in the campaign was based on Czech, but they obviously use cyrillic letters, because, you know, there are cyrillic letters there.

Do you believe people who shoot on sight are terrible at DayZ?

I think people who shoot on sight are missing a pretty important part of the game. Banditry or a generally aggressive play style is one thing, of course, but I really think that human interactions are an important thing that makes DayZ into DayZ, and, by simply playing to colllect scalps, you are missing a lot of the game. Still, if people think it's fun to do just that, then what can I do? Sandbox is sandbox. The only thing that should be done to stop KOS in my opinion, is adding more alternatives and difficulties to that play style. No restrictions.

Abandoned Nuclear Power Plant and a Golf Course.

I would like some kind of large industrial complex... maybe in the future, if the map is expanded to the west, we can have some kind of coal-fired powerplant? That would fit, in my opinion.

    ultra rare katana

Oh come on, ´´big hobby´´... Why not give me model railways too? I am sure I can beat zeds to death with a good quality metal HO Train! They are priced collectibles!

    ultra rare katana

How many katanas per capita is there in a rural region of a post-soviet state, I wonder...
  22. Why are you not playing on hardcore? Does seeing your character walk around really mean so much to you? Also, wearing a payday mask heavily increases the risk of you being KOS'ed, just so you know that.

    Hardcore: Shouldnt Zoom Not Exist?

But... this is how human eyes work... Look, I have had a pair of them for my entire life, I know how they work... Over9000nukez... are you playing with a low FoV? I think right now, that the FoV change when zooming in also depends on your FoV settings, so if you already have a low FoV setting, the game will ´´zoom in´´ even more.

Gave a random guy some loot

A lot of people do this kind of thing, which I find really surprising - in a positive way, of course. Kudos to you for being nice.

Just caught a big one in NEAF!

Would you like to explain what you mean with this cryptic post?
