Anyone Miss the Mod's Medical and Humanity Approach?

We are all a bit mad :) And I understand you even though I don't agree with you. I just don't think the path you suggest is a path that can be taken any further than it was in the mod.

    Bigger map (already suggested)

I hope we will be gettin Miroslavl to the southwest. As for the north, it's forested and mountaineous. With hotspots like Svetloyarsk in what today is the north, this region is becoming much more crowded, and that is a good thing, but I would also like a more desolate area, and I think the black mountains can be that. Harsh, little loot, no spawns. Not the best place to get fawt lotz and rack up c00l snipz.

Anyone Miss the Mod's Medical and Humanity Approach?

No game or anti-game can ever be completely life-like. The SA is more life-like IMO. I think this is a good thing. Most of my memories of the humanity system consisted of people complaining that they were KOS'ed for having bandit skin yet infact were friendly, being KOS'ed by people with the hero skin, and being afraid of any player interaction because it might end up with them having a bandit skin, which would end all possible interaction for the during that life. I have always been a fan of complexity and messing up because you didn't realize how something worked... it feels like reality. I should mention that I greatly enjoy Dwarf Fortress too, for the same thing. But I understand that the opinions there can differ.

retrieve - assist - gather missions (please add your ideas)

If you think the only reason your idea should be implemented is that you and your followers think it is ´´fun´´, and that no one else will be ´´interefered´´ by them... What do you think of the probability that this ever will be implemented? I can not myself see a single good thing come from this idea, which in my opinion goes aginst the very heart of DayZ (which some people even hesitate to call a game at all). And I can, I must accept that you have freedom with these ideas, and I do, but you too must accept that I can critize them as long as I abide by the forum rules. Please, don't accuse me of disturbing your freedom with your ideas, you can have your ideas as much as you want, and you can discuss them as much as you want, but if you do it on this forum, you will also have to accept people like me who will not like your idea and argue against it.

    Standoff situation

I like this. It's a very elegant solution for stand off killing situations, as you say.

retrieve - assist - gather missions (please add your ideas)

Alpha is a test phase for ideas, indeed, and this has been tested many times, and not just on the forum. It is not something I would like. Altough i do find this kind of thing being a threat for ideas, especially when it's an idea which appears over and over again with little change. (Really, this has been discussed before) Of course, the voice of everyone who replies to this thread means nothing to you, our fair and just benefactor, for you must collect votes from ALL the community before anyone shall raise a voice to critic you. Also, the Zeds are about as much NPC's as the rabbits and the cans of baked beans, so I will prefer not to ´´wake up´´ about this today.

    "Frankie" Hero mentality

But then, never shooting on sight is not going around waiting to be shot either...

bridge between map and utes (late content)

A bridge to Utes? It's located 20 kilometers off the mainland, and is empty save for an airstrip and a few small villages...
  10. Yes, I really think such a simple thing as tracking the time survived will greatly change the way people see their characters, so I am all for that idea! I also think a harsher environment would do more things to make pople want to stay alive. If going from being a washed up freshspawn to healthy and well-supplied survivor, people will think more before they kill of themselves.

I'm so sorry... I had to

Well he did have a Payday mask, everyone knows that this signals your participation in the free DM to everyone, and in the DM free only the game's rules applies, and in the game's rules there are no rules against shooting on log-in. But if he wouldn't have had a PayDay mask, I would have talked. You certainly had the upper hand, with a raised SKS. I don't really think the kill in itself was that necessary.

    Horribly uneven loot

Yes. It might be bad luck. Or maybe some one is stalking you, looting everything in your path, in order to slowly drive you mad by making all the loot unbalanced... AAAAAAAAAA 5 KIWIS IN ONE PLACE Beware...

Regular vs Hardcore: Why do you play?

I recently tried to play regular mode. I died after two minutes. Someone in a random apartment building with a M4 and a hoxton mask just sat there and waited for people. Regular players are truly a strange kind...

    DayZ feels American

Oh, wait, I misinterpreted you. If you mean it in that way, then what is your point? Do you think the USA is the only country that people ask for aid? Even we Swedes, who have a cardboard box with wheels for an armored force, and a part-time airforce, have given military aid. I think we were especially involved as a peace-keeping force in Afghanistan, for example. I think the thing we were discussing from the beginning was if you actually meant what you were saying earlier. I thinkw e are discussing something else now... Anyways, good night. I cna keep discussing this tomorrow, but I have a feeling this thread might be gone when I come back, at least if the discussion keeps going in this direction. (nothing bad meant, but these kinds of discussions usually derail after a while)

    Casuals and DayZ

Well to be fair, we're not asking for the removal of something, just the non-addition of something. And what's the problem of a ´´ridicilous´´ tent base on the top of a hill in the north? I would say that a lack of helicopters even make it harder to make ridicilous bases, because all bases will have to be accessible by foot. With helis I could make a base with no cover on an inaccessible hill in the North somewhere, which is worse.

    DayZ feels American

I am a hater now? Can you give examples of every country in the world running off to get aid from America? You helped the allies a lot in the second world war and you are an important trading nation, I give you that...

Did you get KoS a lot?

I have recently been KOS'ed three times: 1: Playing with 3 other friends. I hear shots, then HOLY DESYNC lasts one minute, I die, my first friend gets shot too, my two other friends manage to shoot and kill each other (ah, DayZ), and we later manage to retrieve their stuff since our enemies never even saw them. 2: Against better judgement i logged off inside the container in the wrecked cargo ship. First thing that happens when I go out is hat someone shoots my leg off with a Mosina. Realizing that I have no idea where the shot came from, I am in the open, and I can't run anymore, I realize that the only chance I have to survive is to put my own Mosina on my back and yell ´´I yield! I am at your mercy!´´ No one shoots back. Then suddenly a Hooded person with an axe runs up to me and starts hacking at me. I draw my FNX and fires it off as fast as I can. The last thing I see before the second shot kills me is the axeman falling over on top of me. 3: Against better judgement I joined a Regular server. After exactly two minutes of playing I walked up on the top floor of those old three-floor apartments that are in the center of the town. A random guy with an M4 and hoxton mask kills me. Who knows how long he had been waiting there... the Regular-players truly are a strange kind.

    DayZ feels American

I don't feel like I should continue this discussion... but what do you mean about countries ´´asking´´ you to be there, really? Are you sure not you are blindly believeing what you hear form your news outlets? Of course, I was only replying to your statement that other countries should be thankful that you came and ´´rebuilt´´ them. Do you mean what you are saying? Just read what you say... I'm not believing my news outlets, I am believing you. Do you really mean what you are saying? Really? I really think we should stop this discussion. I think it's for another day. This discussion is not one we should have here, not on this thread. But woah It baffles me. You are not evil. You are not stupid, or even wrong. I don't blame you for anything. But it still baffles me. How can a person think like you?
  19. eleventhavenue

    DayZ feels American

I don't want to generalize or start a country vs. country argument, but... Does Americans really think they are doing countries a favor by invading, and then ´´rebuilding´´ them? Really? Really? I'm not sure if it's some kind of sarcasm, but I can't detect it. Really? That is so horribly stupid. (sorry but holy crap it is mind-twisting) Really?

    zombie apocalypse atmosphere

Everyone seems to want this, but in a way, I feel the opposite. The blood smears, mass graves, car wrecks, and what you suggest are good designs IMO, but sometimes less is more. Pripyat is a beuatiful town. Sometimes I think the Chernarussian countryside adds to the feeling. Civilization may have gone to hell, but the rest of the world is doing fine. The plant and wildlife does not care about the humans being rabid. The world is still beuatiful. I still support you ideas, though. Altough: dead trees, why? And we're in low density rural land, where would there be any large highways? To be honest, all these asphalted 2-lane roads are pretty generous for countryside with this population density. Here in Sweden, in the area around Umeå, pretty much the biggest road in the entire region is the two-lane ´´blue road´´, Umeå is a lot bigger than Chernogorsk, and the surrounding region is really pretty populated too.

    Casuals and DayZ

Because whenever you say anything about KOS which doesn't follow a certain view, you are most certainly ´´butthurt´´ and ´´crybaby´´ Because obviously the only reason someone would dislike helicopters in DayZ would be that they aid in finding bases Because everyone who does not want AS50's are obviously ´´casual´´ and want to make the game ´´easymode´´, because sniper rifles are ´´skillfull´´ And obviously if someone disagrees with my exact view of how the game should be made, I will tell them that they can make their own game, because that sounds like a constructive way of solving things. If that doesn't work I will start calling people random insults.
  22. eleventhavenue

    I've heard troubling rumours...(no helis)

Because without helicopters base builders get immune to any kind of attack?
  23. eleventhavenue

    DayZ feels American

I don't really buy they whole ´´Look at the Arma 2 campaign, that's why there are lots and lots of american weapons´´ thing... Are you telling me that after the events of Harvest Red, the Chernarussian government cleared all signs of combat in the country, perfectly restored the bombed house in Khelm to its previous state, and meticilously cleared all the camps and FOB's to such a degree that you won't even find an empty cola can in the American FOB-site, while at the same time confiscating all American equipment and randomly spreading it out on the floor of the CDF barracks?
  24. eleventhavenue

    I've heard troubling rumours...(no helis)

And they should all be in Novigrad, about 80 kilometers off the map, or destroyed.

    Why should street lights work?

Komrades, soda machine is glorious result of Russian engineering. It is run on pure communism, mixed with Uranium-238. It results in almost uninterrupted light for approximately four millenia, while only slightly contaminating the products in the vending machine (and by vending we mean gifts because trading is part of evil kapitalist system).
