While the play style doesn't work for me I have no problem with someone doing that, I don't see why it's abusing mechanics, there will be tents implemented at some point which serve the same purpose and it gives him more fun knowing the loot he finds he has an actual chance of keeping. Let's be real here, mosty games with loot enjoy a long playtime when players can collect loot, it gives certain people something to do and something to build and thinkk of how cool their collection is. This is one of the reasons some people liked WarZ. Again, I don't like the playstyle but I don't care if he does it as it will be a feature anyway at one point.

How come a lot of people have working M4/Mosin's?
flashstep replied to andrestor's topic in General Discussion
I just started playing Day SA at release and never touched the mod so I don't even know of great places to loot but I used common sense and ran to a military camp and every time I go there I find at least 1 or 2 damaged M4's and between the two's parts I can put together a near pristine M4 with add-ons I find on my way. I don't know if you're joining full servers but I try to join low pop servers at all times and I can find an M4 or Mosin within my first 30 mins of play. Sometimes I will find 3 M4's in the same building so in my opinion it's TOO easy to find weapons and I think once they add in spawns without a sderver restart things will be much better and they will actually need to reduce spawns. Run away from the coast where you spawn, EVERYONE spawns there so obviously loot will be scarce... -
Thats not what I meant, I understand not being able to move weightlessly in the game, I mean movement that makes sense... I did some editing to my config and changed some graphic and post processing settings and it helped a lot with the "lag" I experience in movement. So I guess it is a delay issue overall with the combination of this negative mouse accell which I am also getting used to. I dont think the movement is bad because I am new, you might think it's good because you are used to it though... I guarantee the problems I have with movement are not a "feature" and the delay, or lag in movement and actions is something that wasn't put in on purpose. Again, I don't want an exact replica of CS movement I was using it's movement as an example, if you play it long enough you know exactly how far you will turn with a certain flick of your mouse or stroke of a key on your keyboard because it is consistent, that's what I want in DayZ, and after adjusting some settings improved it a little I am convinced now that it is just optimization issues. Thanks for those of you that had legitimate responses to my concerns and to the fanboys; keep on fanboying I guess, I wasn't trying to attack your beloved game.

I think a feature that puts some sort of indicator for someone who is a buddy or something but I don't see a point of having strangers names and status show

Why do we already have so many 24/7 daylight servers?
flashstep replied to Gingerizhere's topic in General Discussion
Because some people want to play daylight 24/7... Who cares how they want to play? -
I'm sort of glad you aren't getting any loot, seems like youre the guy who runs around pretending this is CoD all day killing fresh bambi's and anyone else you see on sight.

Color degradation from blood loss has to go (loss of visual fidelity)

Why do people always relate things they like to being realistic in a ZOMBIE survival game. While were at it, players should have to sleep every 8 hours for about 8 hours at a time and also they should have to go to the bathroom, get constipated and have to find a laxative before their intestines explode. Also, a player should have to bath in watering holes or they will begin to smell and animated flies will stay on your screen obstructing your view of the game until you clean yourself with water you might find or some baby wipes that are rare drops. Might as well for immersion and realism, right? -
Played DayZ for the first time yesterday and remembered reading this and just ran as far away from the coast as possible, I ended up being almost fully geared in about 3 hours of play time, plenty of food, water, clothes, millitary gear, guns and ammo. I was also on a lower pop server at the time.

They said a couple times that this was bare bones and a lot of the features they are holding off on until game glitches and optimization are worked out first. After they are satisfied with what we currently had they are supposedly going to start adding features and items like crazy, at least thats what I understood from the information I gathered throughout the days since release of the alpher. It makes sense, gets the bare bones build somewhat bug free and then flood us with cool stuffs to play with, this allows them to focus on a few things at a time instead of a million bugs and problems at once.

rocket, please reduce spawn rate of motorcycle helmets (or nerf them)
flashstep replied to pojo2k8's topic in General Discussion
I played all day yestrerday on a low pop and only found 2 motorcycles helmets, I actually found way more military helms and other hats. -
Ok i get it.. its alpha.. but this is worse than the mod.

I can't help but wonder if every one of the people complaining about the status of the standalone are THE SAME PEOPLE that complained about them not releasing the game yet. There are always these types of people in a game development cycle who complain and complain that the dev's aren't releasing the game to the public for testing and that they are lazy and worthless, then when the game is released they complain about how unfinished it is and how bad the dev's have done at making the game so far. It's like internet trolls, don't feed them and they move on to a new alpha/beta hype and continue their rage their instead. -
This game should be prohibitively difficult.
flashstep replied to autoloon's topic in General Discussion
This topic comes up for every new game in development, people want it harder than anything and others want it super easy. they need a middle ground because if the game is as you want it you will be playing it by yourself and maybe with a couple hundred other players because no one will touch the game otherwise. -
Sounds like you're trolling tbh but I am brand new to DayZ, NEVER touched the mod or ARMA at all for that matter and after playing lone wolf for 2 days I have been geared to the teeth with decked out M4's and survive until I make a stupid mistake like looting a body in the open or walking in a high pop zone out in the open. Veterans aren't the problem, you are, use your brain and remember it's alpha so of course the loot tables, zombies and everything else needs to be tweaked, literally every "bad" thing you listed can be fixed by adjusting numbers to make night brighter, guns drop more, etc. Stop crying.

I am new to DayZ, never played the mod but have followed the development of the SA since it was announced. I have played Counter-Strike since it's early days and player movement in that game is very fluid and needs to be as it is a competitive game so I am used to near perfect player movement. I understand this may not be a problem to some people but for someone like me, who has always enjoyed solid and fluid movement control, the movement in this game is really starting to frustrate me. I have messed with the settings and I don't have lag issues or frame rate problems, and yet, it feels like I am not in complete control of my character. I am enjoying this game so much and for an alpha I do believe it is in good condition but the movement is probably THE WORST I have ever experienced in any pre-release build and I have participated in many many beta/alpha games. This game has PvP so for me to not be able to reliably snap my crosshair to a spot where I heard a sound or to clear a room it is pretty annoying and has actually led to my death 2 times. I remember reading something about movement being server side? If this is true then it makes sense why movement is clunky and feels lagged or even sometimes like my input doesn't register in the game for a moment and then over compensating a moment later. I am also considering that the melee problems are tied to the same mechanic that causes movement to be so awkward, hopefully it is all just number tweaking and nothing major. I searched briefly for a dev's input on movement and didn't find any solid evidence that this is even on their radar, let alone a high priority to fix. I hope this gets enough attention though because I do believe it will turn many possible players away and would do the same to me if I hadn't followed the development of the game for so long and I wasn't on the HYPE train. TLDR - I love the game but the movement is starting to wear on me, I hope this is a high priority for them and gets fixed sooner rather then later. -Yes, I know it's alpha, that is why I am bringing this up.
