That is how I die in a lot of instances. Look and there is no one there, turn and get shot in the side of the head a few seconds later.
-
This, I was with a buddy who got nailed through one of those windows. He didn't die, and when the guy came in to get the loot the guy got shot in the face, but my buddy was lucky.

A lot of people KOS no matter what you're wearing.

[Discovery] Unfinished Military Compound
ThePieKing replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
My point is still valid, it doesn't matter if there is 1 building or 4, that place/compound/newstand/shoe shine hut might be different, but the lay out is the same. The concrete slab that is under the 1 building that was originally there or 4 buildings is the same. The wall around the place is the same. The guard tower is the same. That area was always there. -

Eh, doesn't matter, my point is still valid. That place was there, just a different building setup than it has now. -
LOL, that is great. Got to love this game, just wish that the flashlights didn't shine through the walls like they do. That and the gamma/brightness levels can be changed so much in game.

[Discovery] Unfinished Military Compound

That compound has been there since release, if not, then the first patch. It just had different buildings there ones you couldn't enter -
It may be working like that. I had a hardcore character who got killed, I respawned played for a while on that server then decided to take a break maybe half hour to an hour later. I logged back in where I logged out, then the game killed me, so I respawn again, die by fall then switch servers. I played on the next server until I got the no message recieved message and went to a new server, where I had a fresh spawn. I jumped to 2 other servers to see if it bugged out for a minute, which sometimes characters do, and now my hardcore character and normal character are one and the same. All the servers up to this point were hardcore servers. So I play my normal character who is now on a hardcore server for a while, and log out in a random place I never log out in, then log onto my normal character and they log in right where I logged out on the hardcore server. I tried again today and my hardcore character is still the normal character I play for a while use some cans of food and move around the inventory, grab a new gun, and log out. I log in on the normal character again and he's in the spot I logged out with the hardcore character with the same gear as I had on the hardcore server. So the moral of the story is... don't die!

Is that the wiggle guy?

I've seen something similar where there was something like 9 guns laying on the ground. 1 M4 and the rest SKS's... probably duped. EDIT: This was a few months back when SKS's were first put into the game.

If a server restarts and you're in a high traffic area, either start back up on that server when it starts back up, or go to a low pop server and if you die take your medicine. If he logged in under the staircase though, then he probably logged out there.

I get lost so easily on this game - Need navigation tips
ThePieKing replied to TommyP88's topic in New Player Discussion
After a while you end up knowing where you're going. You learn that certain roads can be seen from certain treelines, or certain buildings are in a specific city/town, or maybe a certain cluster of buildings set up in a certain way is a specific area. I do most of my travelling across country (most of the time with a compass but sometimes without) and you eventually know where you're heading. Every once in a while I do have to go down to a town to find a road sign, but that's not often now. Just keep playing and exploring and you will eventually come to know the map. -
Not sure of play-style, but a good squad-man will help.

Pain killers, find some and eat some. I think pain killers are still in game... I can't remember now. I know vitamins are, but I haven't been paying attention to the medical supplies all that much since I have a full medbag. I'm going to need to check that next time I log in. If your arm is broken morphine will fix it or make a splint with bandages and sticks. You should be able to tell if it's broken if you can't use a rifle or a two handed weapon, I think, haven't had a broken arm yet. -
As a fresh spawn, how do you deal with Zombies since the latest Patch?
ThePieKing replied to Demonica's topic in New Player Discussion
Being stealthy doesn't do much unfortunately. I've tried to be stealthy since the patch to test it out and I'd get zombies running at me from all over no matter what I did. I don't mind the extra zombies, but if we could actually avoid them by being stealthy I'd like it more. In the mod being stealthy did pay off when trying to avoid zombies, but you did have clowns running around at full speed looting towns, which would usually get some agro on you when they passed. Unless they decided to run by and shoot you/hatchet you. -
I have been hit like 6 or 7 times now... luckily for me none of my clothing has been damaged. 2 or 3 of the times I've been hit I didn't start to bleed either.

Anyone else hide weapons to prevent others from looting them?
ThePieKing replied to thequantum's topic in General Discussion
Some people play to survive the zombie apocalypse, for some people it means something different than others. I like the thrill of encountering other people, hell just seeing someone in the distance gets the blood flowing. Some people think everyone should group up and work together, others would rather solo, and others would rather build farms while dodging zombies. There's no one right way to play the game. -
Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

It's funny, I was running the game fine, then the hot fix hit and now I get authentication timeouts about 1/2 the servers I've tried to log into. -
That has been there since the first week of the SA, me and a buddy went exploring in the new northern section of the map and found it there.
-
Well, I've heard the zombie noises plenty of times in the middle of no where even before this patch. The rabbits make the noises and I think a few times zombies got stuck under the ground on a hill.
-
Sometimes when there is a patch, from what I've seen, most servers end up reverting back to the standard server settings. So usually right after the patch the servers revert to 24 hour cycles with the time zone being... I forget which time zone it was now. Maybe GMT?

I've found 2 or the 30 round .22 mags, found 1 1911 mag, 1 CZ75 mag, and 3 or 4 FNX mags. This was on a server that ended up turning into night 5 minutes after I joined and no one had hit Electro to Balota stretch. Pistols were very easy to find, also found 2 SKS's and 1 M4. something like 4 1911's, 2 CZ75's, 1 Magnum, and 3 or 4 Amphibian S's. All within an 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

"Private Servers" exist and it does no good to report them
ThePieKing replied to thequantum's topic in General Discussion
You would think they would still be dead, but it's not true. I've had a few buddies who got lucky when they died and the server reset like 20 seconds later, then they had the character who died back. In that guys story if they did reset the server at the right time they'd be back to life, and who knows where unless you know where they came from exactly. -
Probably from the expiremental server before they changed it so SKS couldn't use the LRS.

"Private Servers" exist and it does no good to report them
ThePieKing replied to thequantum's topic in General Discussion
When the server restarts it usually takes back your character 30 seconds to a minute before you actually got the "no message from server...." message. As for people server kicking, they don't want private servers at the moment to get as many people on servers to see how they handle the load with all the loot spawn, zombies, and players. They want to get things tested before they allow private servers, or "hives". So I say abide by the rules that have been put forth already.
