Only thing I can say for sure is combat loggers, got to love it when people start a fight with you and log out. As for people glitching through walls, sometimes it's not on purpose. I've glitched through 3 myself, the first time I was looting a barracks, when I went to go check the last room I went through the wall and ended up outside somehow. The second time I was on the staircase in the air traffic tower and a friend ran past me and pushed me out the wall. The third time I was in the fire station on the third floor, saw some ammo then went for it, and went through the wall and fell to my death. I did log back onto a server that reset one time, and died as soon as I logged in and so did my friend, but I can't verify that it was a hack and not a bug. The only reason I mentioned this is because with the mod there was a hack that let people kill who ever they wanted. One of my buddies was telling me that him and another guy got shot while in buildings in areas where there was no windows, they died about 20 seconds apart, but I didn't experience it myself since I wasn't online at that time.

There are plenty of other spots to get a weapon, you just need to find them. People have made posts and posted videos about where to find them. As for you losing a character, were you playing on a white listed server before you switched, or maybe switched from a regular server to hardcore? There is 3 airefields, you may find a weapon at any of them or other places as well. From your posts it sounds to me like all you want is the M4 and you want it right as you spawn.

There are some people who will sit in 1 spot for.... hours on end. I don't see the enjoyment in it, but it happens. There was a post from the first week this went into open alpha where some guy and his buddy camped an area for 10 hours before they saw anyone. It's sad really, they camp an area for hours on end for a couple of kills. Most of them will log out if they end up in any danger. I had a couple of people do that yesterday, they tried to kill some almost fresh spawns then one got one of my buddies, another buddy got that guy and the second guy logged out when his magazine ran dry.

Neither one is the cartridge.
-
That is correct sir.

Most people take the extra time to log out so they don't log into a building that may already have people in it. The barracks, jails/police stations/whatever you want to call them, firestations, and air control towers have most of the spawns for military loot, so it's not wise to log out in them. I've been looting a hanger as well as one of the jails when someone logged into them. They logged in at the wrong time and got shot in the face by a couple of people.

There is a difference between a clip and magazine. They were just pointing that out. http://www.minutemanreview.com/2008/09/clip-vs-magazine-lesson-in-firearm.html

I fell off a ladder two times and broke my legs both times, but luckily it was before they added splints and made bandages not repair broken legs.

Color degradation from blood loss has to go (loss of visual fidelity)

Part of the fun I've had in the stand alone and mod was trying to get those medical supplies (well, and food in stand alone) to get my vision back to normal. I say leave it as is. I think it adds to the game, if you don't like it be more cautious. What are you gonna do when more zombies are added? This game is a survival game, you shouldn't really be running into a town without looking around to assess the situation. Right now you can just run in and only have a few zombies come at you, but when they ramp up the zombie count you can't be doing that. As it stands right now, I like it, I say leave it. -
Did you zero the rifle? The ACOG sets it to 200m as soon as it is on. EDIT: Weapons do get damaged too... not sure about the rifles on peoples backs, but pistols do when the clothing/backpack the person is wearing gets shot to hell. Found this out when someone killed me and I got my gear back after they combat logged to my buddy.

Well, guess I'm an asshole. I just watched it again, so.... Sorry. I should have watched for more than the animation, because we all do know it bugs out sometimes or ends up lagged. So, GOOD KILL!, my good man.
-
As someone else said, there are times that it's not bad to move to a different server. Such as when you start in the same place multiple times and that place is completely picked clean as well as the surrounding towns, the server is lagged to all hell, the server happens to be the wrong version and you can't pick up loot/open doors, and a few other reasons like that.

I've seen people log out in these buildings before. I've sat there watching an airfield, 2 guys run into the building and never come out. About 10 minutes later another guy runs up, into that same building, and runs out after being in it for about 5 minutes. The original 2 guys never came out, and most likely someone would have shot someone else if those original 2 guys were there. Server hoppers do log out in these buildings. I've been in a hanger when all of a sudden a random guy logged in, right in the corner facing out. The chances of that guy being right in the corner faceing away from the wall are minuscule.

I think it's funny how many people are trying to defend server hoppers. This story is great, the server hopper gets what they deserve, death for being a douche. The only legitimate reason to be logging in to that building is if the server you were on restarted. Almost all of the current playerbase would never log out there unless they were server hopping. As for me saying this is a good story, I think that's all it is. The guy isn't cuffed in the video, when he starts talking shit about the guy server hopping general voice chat isn't lit up. I mean, it might have happened the way he said, but I think it's him and his buddy goofing around. IF he showed a little bit before and the guy was actually cuffed in the video I might believe it. Anyways, server hoppers suck.

As well as a few extra created for them.
-
In a few of the videos they have said they used the M4 first since that gun is one of the most modable.
-
I've done that, run around in garbage gear trying to get away from the heavily populated areas. When I have nothing to lose, I don't mind running in the open with crap gear. Hell, yesterday when my character was wiped, (still getting tired of my character randomly wipeing and my friends still have their gear, can't figure out what is causeing it.) I ran into one of the Elektro fire stations because I had almost no gear. Then got sniped.

Except we're also in the northern hemisphere on this map so the sun rises and sets a bit to the south.

Possible solution to KOS, hear me out

I'm gonna post pretty much what I posted on another one of these threads.... NO. You will limit players to a point they will have to go bandit to even protect themselves. People always have and always will abuse a system like this. Let's say someone is following you around and won't leave you alone. You can try to live with it but if they're dragging every zombie in town towards you, it's either kill every zombie in town to save yourselves (since zombies don't always follow the first person they see) or put this guy down and save your group. With a system like that you are hindering yourself. Let's say some guy just follows you around and all they do is stand behind you the whole time, you see a group in the distance, that said group is a group of "bandits", now this guy has given away your position and the bandits come by and kill all of you. Or maybe he was working with the bandits in the first place. Now, with your system killing both of these clowns brings me half way to two thirds of the way dead because some jackass wants to be.... well a jackass. -
Most of the people server hopping are doing it because they are afraid of confrontation. They can't stand a challenge so they leave. Or they start a fight and are losing bad so the hop to a different server, sometimes they hop to a different server to move to another spot and then log back in to the original server to have a better shot at the person they're fighting. In short, most server hoppers are just looking for the easy way out. Yes, I have left a server that had no loot between Cherno and Zelengorsk, but that was after I died from starvation, and then spawned like 20 seconds from where I originally spawned.

Avoid Ladders (They've killed me twice)
ThePieKing replied to gorillaCHEEZ's topic in General Discussion
I wanted to see the rooftop on some of the new apartments, I fell off that ladder and broke my legs 2 times. Luckily for me it was before they patched the game so bandages fixed my broken legs at that point. -
Didn't even notice that this was the same guy that started that thread until you pointed that out.
-
They've also stated in a live stream that at some point there will be a timer put in place between server log ins. 30 seconds for the first time then the timer increases as you keep jumping from server, so in theory eventually it could be 15 minutes or more between server jumps.

Haven't seen the shotgun yet, I know it was in before alpha was out, but it was not working. So, they may have taken it out for now.

Kill on sight... my group is doing it now
ThePieKing replied to Nariquo (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
So you roam the spawn points looking for people to kill, and get mad when people log out, people who probably have had a hard time finding some food and other supplies since you're camping the coast and grabbing all the food. They most likely log out to preserve what little loot they have found. From what I've seen most of the people staying on the coast are either A.) NEW and are just learning the game. or B.) People looking to kill fresh spawns with their recently looted Balota M4's. So not only are you roaming the coast looking to kill fresh spawns, but people new to the game who don't know what is going on. As for combat logging, Dean said they were gonna implement something eventually (can't remember if he gave a time frame), where the first server hop was 30 seconds between getting in and then increase incrementally to prevent server hoppers. EDIT: I in no way condone combat logging, it sucks, but so does a group of people camping the coast killing fresh spawns.
