Can't say I have seen a hacker in the standalone, just 2 in the mod. In the mod my buddy starts yelling at me for breaking his legs while he was in a building in the middle of the floor. I was outside the building looking around for zombies. It was night time on the server and most people left leaving the 2 of us and 2 more people. After a minute I see a car all of a sudden appear in the building he was in and disappear 1 or 2 seconds later. The other one was one of those kids who had that nuke hack who killed everyone in Cherno with the nuke, then proceeded to kill everyone else on the server magically with a script. I did have a couple of friends run into someone at NEAF who was using an exploit. One friend was in one of the jail houses and another friend was at the opposite end of the airfield when the person killed him and then the other friend like 5 seconds later.

Did you actually hear the bullets wizzing past you? Most likely it was someone shooting at you, but they could have been in a town close by shooting at another player or some zombies.

They probably started running as you finished the animation and moved before he was really done being bandaged.

LOL... you get into a fire fight with a guy who couldn't hit the broadside of a barn and think a gun should be nerfed. I could see you calling for a nerf if the guy shot all three of you and killed you all in one or two shots each from a good distance away, but firing 600 rounds and missing all but one of those shots you think a gun should be nerfed. Then anyone who disagrees with what you say is automatically what ever name you feel like calling them. Do the world a favor and do NOT have any children... EVER.

I've seen something like this once before 7 SKS's and an M4 inside a jail house. No one shot at me.

I agree, plus people should read the patch notes in an alpha or beta anyways to give feedback or to test for the bugs.

Why is there no frown for the no option? It is truly heart breaking to not have a combat logger kill.

I agree, after that much time and distance the fight was over. You said you waited a few minutes outside for the guy, and he didn't come to you, he wasn't gonna come out for a fight. You left the area and he didn't follow, so the engagement was over. EDIT: If he did follow though, you just died. :P

I've seen a building with 7 or 8 rifles in it. I don't know if there was a group who all had 2 rifles and decided to drop the second or if it was 1 person grabbing all these rifles and dropping them in this 1 building. There was 1 M4 and all the rest were SKS's I thought it was a trap but no one was glitched in the wall shooting me when I checked the building for someone. EDIT: Someone dropped that rifle there, either for another one or they got tired of carrying 2 with them.

You run faster in this than you do in the mod, in the mod you also started running slower after running for a while. This map is bigger, but you can cover ground in it faster.

Get rid of pre patch gear... no problem. went to a rock face lagged, to my death. I couldn't get back to my body in the 10 minutes alotted, all my pre patch gear gone. It sucked... the game was running fine until I got onto that rock and lagged off. EDIT: I was running with 2 people yesterday who had pre-patch gear, no problems at all.

I took both barrels from across a street, went unconcious, my buddies killed the guy after I put 6 rounds into them, but everything except my hat, boots, gloves, axe, and rifle were ruined. One of my buddies got clipped with the first shot from a different one and then got finished off by the second. Seen a few people die with 1 shot from it.

Thats not always true. I've fallen down a ladder standing, and I've gone down ladders fine while crouching.

Most I've seen together was 7 from another group of people. Most I've seen in one area was something like 7 or 8 people trying to kill each other in cherno or elektro.

As other people said, you look around before you log out, and when you do, log out in a bush/tree/or anyplace else that is safe. Hit F3, see what you look like when you log out if you play on a 3PP server, or make sure you have enough foliage around you when you're in 1PP and you log out. I've had people walk right past me while I was sitting in bushes when I wasn't logging out, it's not that hard to get hidden when you log out for 30 seconds. The only people this hurts are the lazy people who don't want to think about where the safest places to log out are/combat loggers/ and server hoppers who log out in the high traffic areas.

One of my buddies and myself had a server go down on us, he logged back in a few minutes before I did and died to a zombie. I logged back in and luckily it was chewing on his face still, but it did hit me once before I could get my axe out.

This is probably the reason I found a full ammo box in one of the jails. The guy didn't wait for it to load and left without it. Sometimes it takes a while for stuff to appear when you drop it, and if you drop it in a tree or some bushes in the right spots you can't loot it again because they eat it. I've seen a few items can sometimes take up to 20-30 seconds to load back up after being dropped, or sometimes they show up right away.

We ran across that a while back... forget where though. There are a few of those tents in the tent area in NWAF as well.

Haha, it does keep you on your toes, but sort of sucks when you are near someone before they leave an area but hear those sounds for 5 minutes after they do. Myself and a few buddies got pinned in a building once or twice when we heard someone walking around outside the building, after we got into a firefight with some people, but the last guy was already dead or left the area. EDIT: I do agree some other things need to be fixed before this, just hopeing this gets a fix sooner rather than later.

There was 1 character wipe where everyone got hit so far, it was the middle of december. http://www.incgamers.com/2013/12/dayz-standalone-security-vulnerability-fixed-but-all-characters-wiped So 6 weeks is possible... might be off by a day or 2 but still right about 6 weeks. Of course this sort of brings up the question... is it really 6 weeks if you just go by the days since the character started and not by the number of hours that you have played that character? EDIT: The most recent character "wipe" was actually a roll back of a few days. There have also been a ton of people who have had characater wipes, but those were not official ones and ended up being bugs, glitches, and what ever else.

If that happens you wait for the server to come back up and log back in on that server or find a low pop server to move to a safe place to log back into the original server.

So everyone who disagrees with you is an idiot, great way to win people over to your side. It's a game, we all can't be playing it 24/7, there do have to be some safe places to log out. Find one of them and log out in it, and yes hide in a bush, there have been plenty of times people have walked right past me while I was in a bush. If you log out in a house you are stupid, there could be people in it scavenging for food the next time you log in. I've seen people log in, in a building, and they promptly got shot in the face. I don't expect many people dieing because they were on a server for 30 seconds that they couldn't move, unless they do it in the middle of a town, military base, zombie horde, or any place else that's stupid to log out in. The only people I see having a problem with this is combat loggers and that includes people who log out to avoid any zombie agro.

The SKS uses 7.62x39mm and the mosin uses 7.62x54 in game I believe. So different ammo. EDIT: I am going off of the real world rifles though... since this is a game it could be different, but the patch notes said that SKS ammo was being added... I'm pretty sure it said ammo too.

I don't see a problem with this log out system, but that's because I don't server hop, I stay on the same server for my entire play time (unless a friend is playing and has shit ping on said server), and when I log out I make sure I'm not in a high travel area and no ones around. If you end up dieing while your character is sitting there then you obviously aren't paying attention to your surroundings and would have most likely died anyways. The notes do warn you to log out in a safe place, not in the middle of one of the airfields, not in the middle of elektro/cherno/berezino, in a SAFE place. Start using your heads and find these safe places. Although as someone did say it does not help that if people do die with this system in place they can't be sure if it was a player/zombie or if the game ate their character. But I still think this system is fine.

If you log in and it says you're dead, try exiting and logging in on another server. It's happened to me a few times and I've still had my stuff, except the last time it happened, not sure what happened then. Me and a friend logged back into a server after it reset and we were both dead and had to restart. I'd say we both got killed by someone but he was in Berezino and I was at NWAF.
