    Combat lag?

Some latency is reasonable and expected for online games. BF and COD both use very low tick-rate, so you'll often get the "shot while ducking for cover" problem. But at least it is predictable in those games. You're talking about normal latency due to the time it takes packets to travel a global network. That problem will never be completely gone, because of physics, but it can be reduced by using a higher tickrate (like most Source games, which run around 100 tickrate). DayZs problem isn't with latency. It's most likely caused by the server choking on data or something. OP described several scenarios that are the norm for DayZ servers, that are not experienced in any of the other AAA fps games on a regular basis. Like Warhoax said: in DayZ it's not very good. So to answer OPs question; yes, this happens to everyone. No, there isn't much that you can do about it. Maybe they'll fix it someday.

    DayZ 2.0 - The Sequel

I used to be a DayZ fan... before standalone... before arma 3... I'm still disappointed that they didn't use arma 3 for dayz sa... but here's a thought: DayZ 2, running on Arma 4! I mean, come-on... as long as we are day-dreaming here, we might as well come up with something good. And while they are at it, they should build a Life mod directly into Arma 4 (or at least the tools to make it easier for the community to do it). Why build this amazing combat engine, and then lock your players into just one genre? Let's face it... DayZ is in its current state because it had a small dev team with bad leadership. It's slowly getting better because the dev team is getting bigger and better. But Bohemia needs to come together as a company, and work together on these projects as one. They should design arma 4 together, with all these other genres and game mechanics in mind. Many of DayZs initial problems were due to the fact that the engine was never designed with certain things in mind (like the huge number of objects that all the zombies and gear spawns would create). The devs have made many improvements to the engine to support dayz mechanics, and those improvements can easily be rolled back into arma. I really hope they don't continue on the 'standalone' path for DayZ 2, because it seems like such a huge waste for their company to be working on two separate engines at the same time. I'll always have hope for the dayz franchise, and I wish Bohemia the best of luck. I think the next dayz and arma have great potential. The way things have been going with dayz though... I'll be surprised if it ever gets out of beta.

    Unarmed combat

I wouldn't really call it pushing... more like nudging. There isn't a dedicated push attack... it's more of just running into someone to make them move around. I'm not sure I would ever use a push attack. I'm almost always have a melee weapon, so I probably would never use it. I suppose it would be helpful for when I respawn and get caught inside a building with a zombie. Being able to push a zombie down, or away, and make my escape would be helpful at those time. But that is such a seldom occurrence, I'm not sure it would be worth its own dedicated attack mode. Someone else posted about wanting a tackle move a little while ago. It would be a good non-lethal way to stop someone from running away. The problem is if they add more of these specialized moves (like the little jump you can do under the right conditions), the more convoluted the game controls will get. And there's already a ton of different keys and key combinations to remember. It would be difficult to get it all working together without becoming another annoyance.
  4. Pretty much this ^ Stuff happens way to quick in DayZ for text based chatting. You could be halfway through your first sentence and *bang* you've been shot by someone you didn't see because your controls were locked down by typing mode. Plus, most people just don't want to deal with typers, since it takes forever to communicate.

What exactly do ballistic helmets stop

Thanks SalamanderAnder. My biggest gripe with the ballistic helmet is that it doesn't seem to protect against melee knockouts. Take TheC1aws latest stream highlight for instance: http://www.twitch.tv/thec1aw/c/3442058. Pretty much 1 shot knockout. The motorcycle helmet at least protects you from that. I also don't like how the ballistic helmet and the ballistic vest are basically ruined after taking a single shot. IRL, ballistics gear can take multiple shots to different areas without any problems, and it takes multiple shots to the same location to cause a failure. I understand that it would be too much to ask for the Arma engine to simulate a super realistic body-armor system but I hope they are still developing the ballistic gear system. As it stands it is pretty worthless. I hope that once they get all the gear condition stuff working, your character will take damage based on the current condition of the gear. Here's how I'd like to see it work eventually: Pristine: 100% protection from a 5.56 or .45 round. 50% damage reduction from a 7.62. After taking the first shot, condition is lowered from pristine to worn Worn: 75% protection from a 5.56 or .45 round. 25% damage reduction from 7.62. Condition is lowered from worn to damanged if it gets hit. Etc, etc, until completely ruined.

    Unconcious

Yup. my dude has been unconscious for over an hour now. I got hit with an axe, so my dude probably bled out while he was unconscious and doesn't have enough blood to wake up. Either that, or there's something wrong with the 'shock' feature (maybe it doesn't go down while you are passed out).

    Knocked unconscious after two punches

http://www.twitch.tv/thec1aw/c/3442058 Saw this on C1aws stream the other day. 1 hit to the head, even if you have a helmet = instant KO. i just got knocked out with an axe and am currently seeing if my dude will ever wake up. 45+ minutes down and he's still taking a dirt nap. Add these things to the bug list plz... I hope they get fixed soon.
  8. Yeah. I was super excited when the DayZ mod was first released. I played for a bit, and I've enjoyed a few of the other mods that DayZ spawned. DayZ is also the reason I bought Arma 3, which is a pretty decent game and has a lot of fun new mods as well now. But I honestly cannot see how they are going to fix all the problems that currently exist in DayZ SA. Dudes need to chill out on both sides of the fence though. We are basically rehashing all the same fing conversations we had over a year ago with the original game. And all those conversations were pretty pointless, because people eventually made different mods to fit the different play-styles. The same thing will happen with DayZ SA. There will be RP mods with hero systems, base building mods, hard-core mods, etc, etc etc. You pick the mod that fits your needs. And as for the DayZ SA design... none of our opinions really matter, because Dean Hall has a very specific vision that he's trying to produce and he's going to make it the way he wants to. Anyway. I'll probably lurk around here for a couple more weeks to see how quickly things progress and then after another month or so of the same old sh*t, I'll wander off to go play a true AAA game like Dying Light or Dark Souls or some Star Citizen beta. Maybe in another year DayZ will finally make it to beta, have some decent mods, and be worth playing.

    Suggestion: one in the chamber

I thought Rocket said this was a feature that was planned to be in the game? I guess we'll just have to wait and see if it is implemented.

Whats with this Shoot on sight mentality?

Welcome to DayZ. The KOS mentality will never change unless the devs implement some game mechanics to dissuade people from doing it. They have already tried with a few things. For example: 1. Bullets damage gear. So unless you can get a headshot, it's better to hold someone up. Otherwise you end up with ruined gear. 2. You can only take blood from people that are alive. So again, it's better to hold them up for their blood, instead of just KOSing them for the lulz. But... unless they add some real systems (like the old bandit/hero system), DayZ will never be more than a shoot on sight frag fest.

Full geared, now what to do?

All geared up? Now you die and start all over again. Or the hive breaks and wipes your character and you start all over again. Or a hacker invades the server you are on and insta-kills everyone, and you start all over again. DayZ isn't about winning. Nor is it about getting all the 'good' gear. It's about having an adventure in a hostile world and trying to survive against all odds. Go find some friendlies and help them gear up. Or shoot them, it's up to you. It isn't about what you have, it's about what you do with what you have. And also, go re-read the disclaimer about this game being in alpha. 90% of the games functionality has been stripped out so they can test out the core game-play. It's going to be another year, or more, before this game is ready for release and has any sort of end-game. 'The best guns' that you have now are really some the worst guns from the Arma engine, because most of the good ones (snipers, etc) are still being worked on and have yet to be included in DayZ SA. Right now, if you aren't in it for bug testing, then you're just dead weight to the community. Early stages of games like this always just end up becoming PvP KOS because there's nothing else to do yet, and there's no incentives built into the game yet to keep people friendly.
