  1. Just wanted to tell you about my recent adventure. After leaving some supplies and a good luck note in the northeast airstrip air control tower on the second floor. (I was on one of the experimental SE servers in case the cache still hasn't been claimed) I decided to head to Krasnostav to get some food and more supplies. When I entered it and started searching the first house, a player with an axe ran right into the building, saw me, and immediately ran back to the door, where a chasing zombie hit him. I warned him that I would shoot if he did anything stupid, but shot the zombie with my trusty SKS and said that I will be on my way. When I ran out of the building I was immediately greeted by another walker, who I also shot. I tried to reach the office building, hoping to find some more ammo for my SKS. I quicly ran through it, dispaching another zombie that came after me, found some tasty tuna and 357mag ammo on the top floor. And saw that there was another SKS up there. While I was descending again, I saw the same axe wielding guy again, fighting off another zombie. I shot that one again. Repeated that I don't want any trouble, and that there is an SKS upstairs if he wants it. Ran out the building and got chased by three more zombies. I shot the 2, but ran out of ammo (shot some z's earlier), swiched to my magnum, killed that one, just to see 3 more coming at me. I dispatched them, while missing some shots from the stress and the horrible 15fps i was getting. Reloaded with a speedloader just in time for another 3-4 of them. When I thought it was all clear I reloaded and started bandaging myself as I was bleeding profusely. However, more biters were already on my way and hit me just as I finished bandaging. So again I ran a bit, reloaded my magnum. Dealt with them and ran away from the location. To reload and bandage all my weapons. Went to the supermarket and saw a small green backpack, which I wanted to trade for my big shiny orange mountain one. I heard zombies moaning around while I was transferring my stuff. A few ran in and I shot them or axed them before they did me any harm. Finally loaded my backpack (Leaving my cowboy hat and all paint to save some space) and ran into the forest. Started to rain and i went into one of those small huts that are raised on the ground and rested and ate. I found an fnx in the airport earlier, chambered it (still don't have a mag) and tried it out (also find a pistol light, but that didn't work for some reason, even though it was pristine and had a pristine battery in it). Another zombie showed up just 7 seconds after the shot, so i chambered another round and shot that one too and ran away, before another one started chasing me. Point of the matter is that the new respawning zombies are awesome. They spawn behind you or in any other direction and you don't always hear them coming before it's tool late, so they can sometimes be a real opponent in numbers. This makes the game much more enjoyable and actually worth of it's name. Now if only you could barricade yourself in a building and they didn't walk through walls like fucking ghosts... P.S another irrelevant question, but what would be the best find in a player created cache for you - assorted ammo and/or mags/food water medicine/ or a weapon? Do you ever leave anything out for your fellow survivors and if so what? P.P.S. Found a bottle in the airport that had 17% water left, can you poison water in any way and leave that as a trap for someone? Or am I just being paranoid for leaving a good bottle?
  2. Holy Jesus Fuck the zombies are 10 times better now. Just was attacked by about 30 of them (not all at once, but 2-4 at a time). Emptied my SKS, then my revolver, reloaded with a speed-loader, then switched to my spliting axe. While I was bandaging and reloading my revolver another wave came again, unloaded 6 rounds, 6 from the speed-loader again. They actually damaged me pretty good. Seems that, after they die, they re spawn really fast, so if they hear gunshots, they come running toward you. Or maybe the engine even spawns them nearby when you shoot. Since I tried a newfound fnx in the forest (quite far off the city) and one came after me 10 seconds after the shot.

    Gentelmans way to mosin around.

It's not like he was hacking or anything. Also, didn't seem that he did that on purpose, couldn't that have been just an accident? Since if he did that on purpose, i figure he would have had more of the best items he had and less other things. Besides, as the other guy mentioned, this should be fixed by the devs, as I don't really see a big difference of my guilt even if those items were duped on purpose. Already did some sniping on z's from long range as well as close. Kinda fun to stir up some zombies and see them running at you after the shots if you are close. The bolt action, low ammo capacity and inventory reload make them an exciting weapon to use. Way more fun than an m4. By the way, last time I played, think i had an actual bullet count in the corner. Was that removed for all weapons on purpose or is this just a mosin thing? Becouse hearing that dry click is such a rush in a combat situation, love it.

    Dead man's swiches

What if it is just a regular survivor who happened upon a dead body? Why should they be "painted" or have an "explosion" in their face? Also many KOS'ers do it for the thrill of killing, not for loot. A lot of them will just leave the body there, especially the sniper type of KOS'ers. I see your point, but even if it's a regular survivor, he still has to choose to break open the backpack at his own risk, which ads to the fun. If you are the regular type, isn't all the item's on the guy (in clothes and the weapon) kinda enough? And if you are a fresh spawn, you don't have much to loose even if you explode or get painted on. My point is you should give a dead person some respect and not doing so could have negative consequences not only morally, but also physically. As for the snipers, yeah, they do indeed sometimes do it just for shit's and giggles, but hitting someone long range does indeed take some skill, patience and sometimes even luck etc. If you don't sit in the middle of the road, run around zig zaging and just be smart, not a lot of snipers can get you. Well, i'm only talking about the likes of personal items such as backpacks or tents being booby-trapable, which isn't that bad, considering you have to go out of your way, to actually trigger them. I don't even think regular booby traps would be bad if they are not super hard to spot, they would actually add a lot of tension when looting places. Besides, getting all of the components for it to work should be hard. Well, that's one of the more extreme options as I mentioned + even if grenades will be implemented i think they will be a super rare find. And furthermore, why not construct something that actually just removes the pin if the pack is broken apart, so the bandit still has 5 seconds left when he hears that ting (again, imagine what a rush that would be).

    Dead man's swiches

Thought this could be an interesting new topic. What I'd like to see is more dead man's switches. Say you can craft something from some rope, duct tape and a grenade or a paint-can etc. So when the typical KOSer kills you and tries looting you, he either gets a tasty explosion for himself or get's sprayed over with a shitload of paint. This way, it would be kinda-sorta realistic, and you would have an awesome way to know if a player looted a dead body recently. Seeing someone with a half green, black or orange face, odly sprayed weapon and half splattered TTSKO jacket would be a good indicator he had been necroing another body. The beauty in this is that the bandit himself, could lower his odd appearance by having to find new clothes, or even a weapon, washing his dumb face in a pond, or other means. And we could have small indicators, that he has looted someone recently if he has just left a little bit of paint on his face or back of the head, other survivors could not notice that until it's too late. I think this would be best implemented, by having to seperately open backpacks when you are looting a fellow and you could even have a three digit shitty lock on them (so friendlies could safely retrieve their comrades' stuff if they know the number). So when opening a backpack you either have the option to enter a code, or brake it open. If you know or guess the code (good luck just sitting in the open and trying to guess it), then the loot is all yours, but if you force it open, you're not sure if the survivor had a dead-man's swich, or not, so it's more of a gamble. This way banditry would have a bigger risk - reward to it, survivors who take the time to find the supplies and craft the dead man's switch would have some consolation, that the bandit will not take everything without any consequences, bandits would have more of an incentive to do hold-ups instead of KOSing, or would have to carry around a change of clothes with them, wasting precious space. Basically it would be a win-win situation, making the game that much more random and exciting., Oh, and this would also later work with tent's, cars and so on.

Yeah, I fully get all that, thanks. Still, i'm asking more on the lines how can you be a good sniper and help people out form a distance?

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

  8. So, recently I had a whimsical story with a fellow survivor. I was checking for food in a diner up East when I got a tasty bullet from a mosin in me. Got real blurry and grey, but somehow survived it. I ran out and surrendered after bandaging, yelling i'm friendly and quite freshly spawned. So the perpetrator of the crime, apologies, and says he was hunting some bandits in this area and suspected me to be one of them (i had a backpack some clothes and an empty sawn-off I looted from a corpse). So we talk a bit, he seemed quite lost and didn't know which city we were in, which I explained to him. He also asked around for a water source, which I also tried to direct him to. Eventually, he started talking bout following him, that he'd show me something "very interesting" and I figured his friend must have recently connected or something, since he almost giggled while saying all that and I was sure he was leading me into an ambush or worse, but played along with it, as some proper banditry is also fun, + i've yet to try out the new disinfectant flavor. However, to my surprise that was not the case. He led me to a building, where there was another guy, with the same clothing (thought this was his clan-mate at first) crouched in the corner. As I was waiting for more tasty bullets filling my stomach, he explained, that this was actually a clone glitch, and I could take whatever I needed from his clone. He even handcuffed himself =D. He had several saline iv's on him and immediately administered me one. I thanked him as much as I could and was just genuinely surprised by this moment. The guy had superb endgame stuff. A pristine mosin with all pristine attachments (haven't even seen a compensator yet), a magnum, a lot of rounds for both of the weapons and so on, canteens, cleaning kit, a second LR scope, speed-loader, etc. So this has been the biggest surprise dayz has served me yet. So, now that I have all this gear, I'm not even sure how to proceed. After all, this is pretty much the ideal setup for banditry (i've still got suspicions that the guy might have been a bandit or even a ghoster in a good mood), but i've yet to try that out, as I prefer to be the good guy. However, i can't just run around trying to talk to people, as I'll surely get riddled, when they notice, what kind of gear I'm packing (or even without a reason). However, just as my helping friend, I want to keep being a gentleman and not just start KOSing around. So, any suggestions, how or where I could provide overwatch for newspawns, do some counter-sniping or anything else. What do you do if you happen upon a good sniping kit? How to mosin around the gentleman's way?

Answer my questions, oh lords of dayz.

But you still eventually wake up, if you don't bleed to death, etc.?
  10. Hello there, fellow survivors. A couple of questions: 1. Is the spraypaint mosin bug still rampant or is it fixed, found a couple of sweet cans, but don't want to turn it in to a blunderbuss. 2. I've just noticed that you can put notes on the ingame map. If i were say killed by a bandit, would that nay-doer actually able to read what, I've written on my map? 3. If i connect to maps (e.g east and west) will my notes disappear? 4. Where does the new shotgun spawn? I'd love to test it out. EDIT: 5. Fiddlesticks, seems while I was writing away this topic, I passed out from all the running around and I'm now unconscious. Do you actually wake up from that after some time, or is it a death sentence?

    Loot stashing

Hey there. Is there any real way how to stash loot somewhere at the moment? Even let's say leaving a backpack in the wilderness or something akin to that? Does anyone know how long would the items last if left like that? Do they dissapear when I disconect after some time. Is there a chance they will disappear if I do not disconnect, but run around in other places?

    Silencers and item condition

Yeah, but I mean in that case, the suppressor is kinda useles? Right now i'd rather have shorter range, but be at least somewhat silent. By the way, why do the suppressor and the bayonet use the same slot? And talking about the bayonet, can you actually use it in combat?

    Silencers and item condition

Hello there. So I've looted the big airport for a couple of times, almost got killed over it (I shot the bastard, but I think he logged off) and found a silencer in one of the tents at the north of it. However, it doesn't seem to do any good as the sound my trusty m4 makes is still the same loud bang. Now, I now in the mod there were special lower powder charge bullets to go with the suppressor, however, after loading up with over 200 556 ammo, I've yet to find a mag or a single round of silencer-friendly ammo. Anyone had any succes with silencers? Another question I have is about the item condition. What is the treshold when some objects (flashlights, portable lams, etc) become unusable? Ruined is ofcourse logical, but I've had lights stop functioning when they were marked as damaged only. How come?
