Hello guys, I just bought a new comp at fry's and transferred all my steam games via removable hard drive to new comp. Everything works somewhat the same, except now my settings are a bit different. To run fast, I have to hold shift. I tried remapping it to double tap w, which it says under the keybinding section area, and it STILL doesn't respond. Long story short, please give some detail regarding how on earth to get my hold w to run fast after I double tap it and hold it?!??! Thanks!

To those who recommend we rebind TURBO...I have been trying to do that from the start. It SEEMS like the interface/game won't allow it AT ALL now. dang, so they changed it so it won't even work? really?

I tried binding it to "turbo." It says doulbe tap w in the description and i deleted the original one which was "shift." Still, doesn 't work. HELP!???!

So I've never seen this before. I'm fully geared with plenty of ammo and I kill someone in a small fight near cherno. Then, a few minutes later, this guy shows up out of nowhere, teleporting all around me and punching me. 10 feet away, suddenly right in my face, then 20 yards away, then back in my face punching. im shooting him and nothing happens and then he knocks me out and I die. In 1 year of standalone never have I seen a hack or been aware of one personally. Did I just have my first? kinda lame and game breaking. Not very pumped about it. Thoughts?

Hey guys. Interesting responses. Actually, I'm not here to complain at all or try and make a dramatic issue. I've been playing for a few hundred hours since standalone's release and have never NOTICED a hack at all. I sure did in the mod, but not in standalone. I actually expected more than just this one instance. So, I'm really more just asking you guys...what happened to me? Has anyone else had this happen? Is this rare for most of you also etc? I guess this was an example of a teleport hack of some sort. Oh well, not bad. Hours and hours of fun and just one 2 minute broken cheat happened to me. I'll live and continue to enjoy. Still, I love the standalone and am quite excited for private hives where, I would expect, this will rarely happen. Thanks guys. Happy dayz

Guys, just saying,...from the mod a couple years ago down to the current state of Alpha... These zombies move like they were made by my 5 year old, they react as if they were created in a drunken daze....and it is embarrassing. I mean, games that were made 20 years ago have enemies that move better and "feel" better than this. Ever tried hitting a zombie? Embarrassing Ever watched the way they do ANYTHING at all? Embarrassing. Ever watched the way they face away from you and hit the air...but are hitting you? Embarrassing lol, they seriously are a bad joke. Through the mod and alpha, they are poorly made. Even with it being an alpha. Play any other game out. Starcraft 2, dota 2, smite, battlefield, anything. heck, Lol, Lego star wars. Even the top 10 worst games of all time, "The Simpson's Wrestling" on PLaystation 1 in 2001. They at least have characters that move and react as if they were professionally made. The zombies in Dayz are so pitiful that it is plain embarrassing. I mean, dude, come on guys. Great game, great premise, but man, ....even placeholders should be more inspiring than this. Day z, besides the zombies, IS A GREAT GREAT GAME. Even with its frame rate issues...the rest of the game is fun and exciting. The environment, loot, and customization is compelling. Thrilling even. But let's really call a kettle black when it comes to these here zombies....my 5 year old was seriously laughing at how the zombies moved, reacted, and just...are. PUT ANY ENCOUNTER WITH A ZOMBIE IN DAY Z IN A YOU TUBE CLIP AND POST IT ON THE INTERNET. It is pitifully embarrassing.

1 - Head torches and pistol lights? I would love to play on a hardcore server and use a head mounted or pistol mounted light at night! Are either of these functional? If so, please detail how to use these cause I can't figure out how to use either. 2 - Pistols seem to now be shooting only 1 shot at a time and then I have to manually reload. Saw this with magnum and another one. Had plenty of ammo but, do I have to manually load after each show now? 3 - Private servers. Any news anywhere on when these will be in? Tired of server hoppers and want to be part of a relatively steady group of players and community as in the mod. 4 - I had a guy come up to me the other day and he said "Thomas, I will kill you thomas." How did he know my character name when they aren't displayed over our heads and I cannot ever see anyone elses? Was he an admin or something? 5 - What scope is the "longest in the game combo?" as far as visible zoom? Mosin and pu scope? Mosin and long range? 6 - Charcoal tablets and purification tablets etc to clean water. Do you guys actually use purification? You can find wells and water/soda all over to hydrate...isn't purification tablets etc a bit unnecessary with all the work involved?

Anyone have any idea why I'm hearing the sound of my guy moaning a bit? I was hit by a zombie one time...bled a bit, bandaged right away after killing said zombie and everything looks fine. Nothing is blurry. I have sardines I've eaten slowly, and am only a bit thirsty. Any ideas?

Fellow survivors. I know it is the alpha but I believe I just received a message that has nothing to do with a universal wipe. I logged in to my character who has been fully alive for quite some time only to notice the warning "your character has been reset and a server administrator has been notified." has anyone else had this? I literally walked all the way from cherno to stary to the north eastern airfield...was pretty well geared, and looking forward to surviving as long as I could. Then I log in right now to continue my journey and see this message. I'm all for alpha character resets and wipes if this was one of them that we "all get." But what was this? Anyone? A bit discouraged to run around and gear up again if there are wipes in addition to the "expected wipes." Thanks!

I guess I can see why this makes you crazy, the same way it makes me crazy that people like you take EXTRA time to only point out how crazy it is to ask these questions. Here is my take on why I asked 1 - This is a video game where sometimes, unlike the real world, googling actual scopes may not provide the IN GAME answer I'm looking for. Perhaps I can zoom a bit with a scope that I will find later. When you ask questions like this in the forums it starts a dialogue and people start to blab AND I LEARN FROM ALL OF IT. Perhaps someone will say something like "no dude, they don't zoom at all . . . just loot the lockers in the military bases for the scopes and you will see that they don't zoom when you try them." I would then go..."hmmm, well, he answered my question that they don't zoom but now I know something else.... maybe I should have been looking in the lockers." lol, ya dig? 2 - Arma 2 which Day Z was "made around" is a weird older game. Climbing ladders is a pain in the ass for those that aren't used to it. Crouching and walking around, opening car doors and trunks, using your inventory etc gets glitchy as a moooooooooo fo. So, it seems the fastest most direct way to get an answer in game is to ask people in the forums about in game. Sorry to make ya crazy my amigo...but this little bit of crazy just gathered many of us the answers to many questions in about 1 min worth of work putting up a post. Thanks everyone. Focker out. Great topic. Something unique just happened to me. I was healthy and fine except for a zombie fight an hour ago where I had no choice but to bandage with my shirt (no alcohol to clean rages or first aid kit bandages avail.). Anyway, my guy is moaning and I have like every gear in the world EXCEPT for anti biotics. I put some alcohol on my wounds to "clean wounds with alcohol" and instantly my status when you press TAB shows me as sick. So, shouldn't I be better? Any ideas here? Perhaps just an alpha bug? Thanks!

AMigos. This guy is COMPLETELY and entirely ACCURATE AND DEAD ON. I LOVE him for mentioning this. I love him for UNDERSTANDING that this IS an ALPHA and that NOW, in alpha, IT IIIIIIIIIS the time to make posts like this to ...you know...do the ALPHA thing and ...oh I dunno, gather ALPHA FEEDBACK and state our cases so that the game can be molded into WHAT THE COMMUNITY WANTS. Which definitely is not to have to have every single person run straight to a military camp. Hopefully the alpha will end up dumping some civilian weapons and guns into a few more homes and city areas so that it is all spread out and more fun to loot EVERYWHERE instead of mostly military bases. AMEN. This guy for president. Support this dude. Oh and where the mother fuck is ghostbusters 3 already duderz!??!

I have ruined bandages that bandage me fine. Ruined canteen of water that still works to drink. Why are these ruined if they work?

I got into an axe fight with a guy and killed him. I bandaged up with clean bandages and then stopped all hunger and thirst and am now sitting still in the forrest. Will my vision get clear again? Too blurry to play. I've heard that people heal up when full over time.

how do I test blood? Can I just fill a bloodbag when I'm healthy early and then use it later when I'm hurt.? Lastly, what is the SOLO version so I don't have to rely on another as I lone wolf a decent amount. Thanks!

ok, so what would normally be the fastest way to heal myself without just waiting on food and drink? a bloodbag? don't I need someone to give it to me? Will I just FIND a full bloodbag out there and be able to use it on myself? what about saline? Can someone elaborate here on the best ways to heal myself quickly as a lone wolf type player AND also maybe if I had one friend? thanks

So I looted Bogota and got me a nice machine gun (m4 or whatever it is with a red dot short range scope and a good amount of amunition) and couldn't believe that I actually was well armed for once in DayZ. I'm an ex mod player and am surprised I actually have some gear. Anyway, knowing that char wipes may happen frequently in the alpha I headed to cherno close by to try and get some action while I still have my gear. I head into the grocery store in Cherno and while I'm looting I notice an axe come swinging right by my ear. I turn around, notice the dude standing there, and book it out towards the front door. I unload on him. He dies and his body falls into the ground AND SLIDES AWAY ACROSS THE FLOOR OUT OF THE STORE AND INTO THE STREET. lol...um what?!?! Anyway, since he slid and then disappeared I walked towards the back of the store and another guy comes at me. He's pointing a gun at me and I blow him away. He ALSO FALLS TO THE GROUND AND SLIDES AWAY TOWARDS THE FIRESTATION AND THEN SINKS INTO THE FLOOR. No worries, it's alpha. I get it. At least I'm having fun and surviving. Store isn't safe. I run to a nearby small house. Everything is blurry and I can't see well. I'm moaning. Not sure what to do, I open my can of sardines and beans. I eat all beans and sardines. I pound a couple sodas. I'm now out of food. I have an empty blood bag and a starter iv kit but no syringe. I'm bandaged and all bleeding has stopped. I shot myself with an epi pen. Everything is still blurry. 1 - Do I just wait a while and because I AM NO LONGER STATUSED AS HUNGRY OR THIRSTY will I heal up and see straight over time? or....... 2 - Do I need to scavange hospitals for x, y, or z or just eat more food? oh and 3 - WTF is up with these sliding bodies?!?!?!? Great game! Fun!

Team, I have read around the forums that there are many settings that, when pushed to HIGH, actually HELP performance if you have a strong graphics card because on low the performance transfers to the cpu ( have a good i7). I have a nvidia 680 GTX which is pretty good and am wondering what I should transfer over to my graphics card? 1 - what should I put to high? Shadows? anti aliasing? 2 - how do we KNOW that this is how this works? Is there a post somewhere that verifies high settings can HELP by pushing the performance to the graphics card? Thanks!
