Well, just because it's an exploit everyone can do, doesn't mean that everyone should be able to do it without the risk of banhammering because it's not something you can do accidentally without realizing it. These people are doing it very intentionally.

Ideas for solving battle logging?
ninjacalypse replied to crypticsilence's topic in General Discussion
Well, it's all good it's just that it's hard to set expectations and priorities this early in the development cycle from a player perspective. A lot of behind the scenes and under the hood type stuff is going on in the development process. Now, if DayZ gets to beta and combat logging still hasn't been fixed (which is simple) then yeah, I'll complain right along with you...to a reasonable extent. -

Ideas for solving battle logging?
ninjacalypse replied to crypticsilence's topic in General Discussion
I hate to say this has been addressed only about a gajillion times but it has. Rocket actually addressed this before the Alpha was released and said combat logging would be addressed with logout timers and damage cooldown, i.e. there's a cooldown timer before logging after taking damage within a certain length of time, whether you logout, alf-f4 or dc. So it's an issue Rocket is fully aware of and has a plan to deal with. For those who think that the game should discern between alt-f4'ing and dc'ing...why should it? If you dc in the middle of a fight, you should expect to die...in pretty much any online game. Since the Alpha was just released many features have yet to be implemented though. Although, of all the game Alphas I've played despite the issues it has this has got to be the most buttpain-free Alpha I've played in like...ever. -

EZ mode. Popular with the kids these days...
ninjacalypse replied to jjw100's topic in General Discussion
Edit: Woops, quoted the wrong person. Anyway, you didn't have to post a dropbox, the videos showing FrankieonPC hacking (not just in DayZ) are still on youtube. Lolwut? FrankieonPC is liek totals the legit man! That video where he's standing in the middle of a church when it explodes, and people right next to him and even people farther away from the explosion than him all die but he still has 12000hp? That's rich. Just because it's been proven that he's a haxxor, the fact that he has been banned from too many servers to count for hacking not to mention banned from other games doesn't mean he's actually a h4xxor. :P *cough* But seriously...OP...there's nothing "alleged" about FrankieonPC hacking. Oh yeah...and don't forget his "alleged" VAC ban. I mean...his actual VAC ban. -

Yeah, that's pretty simply put why there are so many players doing this. When status effects/ailments/treatments are fully implemented along with more zombies, harder zombies, zombies hordes which Rocket has talked about then you're going to see people being a lot more cautious. Noob attracts horde of zombies and runs just fast enough to stay out of claw range...as they chase him all the way to Balota. Balota campers get wake-up call. -
DayZ is FailZ (Lacklustre Infected comment)
ninjacalypse replied to Spidey (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
According to interviews from Rocket, massive hordes of zombies is one thing they're working on for DayZ SA. We're at a very early point in the Alpha right now so I wouldn't expect much right now. To be honest, functionally and otherwise this is the best Alpha of a game I've ever played. -
Yeah, if you don't have at least an axe it's best to run away from the zombies. If you do have a decent weapon though, I find it's best to to just stir up the zombies and get them in an open area where you can kill them easily. Since this is an alpha right now, the buggers can walk through fences, walls, doors, etc. and while you're trying to sneak by them and not aggro them, they'll end up chasing after you anyway and if you're not expecting it they clip right through walls and doors, sometimes they're halfway through the floor while you're trying to go through your inventory, so I just stir up the nest and take them head-on to avoid all that mess at least until zombie pathing/clipping is properly fixed.

Also ITT...not impressed...or entertained. :/

DayZ isn't a chatroom. I don't think you're going to find a lot of people taking you seriously, if you keep trying to compare DayZ to WarZ aka This game was so terrible we had to rename it.

Rocket talked about this issue before the alpha was released and said combat logging (and server hopping in effect) will be addressed using logout timers/cooldowns. One of the reasons, server hopping is a big issue right now is because loot doesn't respawn unless the server restarts.
-
At this point in the development cycle, I'd rather they focus on big patches/updates as opposed to putting out a whole bunch of mini-patches addressing an issue here or there which doesn't really make much sense. I'm not expecting a new patch every week either.
-
Thanks, I'll try and keep this updated as the Alpha progresses and more features are implemented.

So... now what? (The DayZ Paradox)
ninjacalypse replied to superfluidity's topic in New Player Discussion
It was probably your gun that convinced them. Otherwise, you probably would've got the axe. :P -

Lol, he wants to know what your KDR is. -
You could just take one of these Kinkos or whatever the equivalent is in the UK. These are maps of Chernarus+ (the new DayZ SA map)
-
This was addressed by Rocket before the alpha was even released. A logout cooldown/timer will be implemented in the game at some point to prevent/punish this.
-
If it's a player alone with a weapon drawn near you, shoot him. If you see a group and you're alone, beat it quick. If it's a poor newspawn with nothing warn him to keep his distance and if he doesn't run off, maybe give him some food or something. Not definitive what to do but just general advice.
-
Thanks! Welcome to the apocalypse! Yeah, there's still a lot of work to be done and features that haven't been implemented or fully implemented yet.
-
I've been having a blast. I probably would have bought this game at twice the price. That said, it's still an alpha so just be prepared to deal with bugs and features that aren't fully implemented yet. This is the best alpha I've seen in a long time though. I wrote a survivor's guide for new players specific to the standalone which may answer a lot of other questions you might have about the game and its current state, linked in my sig below.

Yeah, it's pretty awesome but the only real problem is people camping in places like Balota, NWAF, NEAF and just hopping from server to server to gank people from behind. This should be fixed at some point though, because Rocket has previously said the issue of combat logging would be addressed with cooldowns/logout timers.
