(Public/Veteran) - 1 DayZ (Public/Veteran) OB MEMBERS ONLY 8.6.15.37:2302 kicking anyone not in the "OB" clan. Server admin is {Brahmin 2}Gator http://steamcommunity.com/id/gavinw56 Server name should be proof enough. Could be wrong but I think this is a gameservers.com hosted server. 95.141.40.61:2302 (Public/Veteran) - 1 COME = KICK ANND BAN Nuff said ^^ First off, those rules are just copy-pasta for DayZ mod servers. There are NO PRIVATE HIVE servers in DayZ SA right now. Notice how it says (Public) next to all these servers that are kicking/banning anyone who joins their server? That means it's Public. Kicking people to lock your server down is against the rules? Don't believe me? Then believe the GMs and the people whose servers are getting shut down. SmashT said: "Alright, this is quite a hot topic at the moment so we thought we should give the community an update. Eight servers have been shut down over the last week, and no more than 14 servers have violated any specific rules. 14 out of over 1100 servers (depending on load). Servers are caught and shut down as rapid as can be expected during Christmas. They come, and they go and they are being dealt with. GSPs deal with it, and most if not all have some sort of warning about locking or passwording." Also, just for extra funsies here's a couple more to add to the ever-growing list if anyone actually cares. Just because you're renting a server doesn't mean the rules don't apply to you. Yeah, I'd like for server admins to have more options right now and the ability to host private servers but they don't. They have public servers, and if they're hosting a public server they should be abiding by the rules for public servers. It seems most of these problems are occuring with these "1 DayZ" servers, which I'm pretty sure are gameservers.com servers. Ideas for solving battle logging?

I'll have to see if I can dig it up, it was either from a twitch Q&A stream or one of those Reddit Q&As. -
Consolidated Weapons/Equipment suggestions
ninjacalypse replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Probably some or all of these have been mentioned at some point in this 37 page thread already but my 2 cents: The PPSH41 Sub-Machine gun. Drum-fed Magazine / Box Magazine Long reload, Higher likelihood of weapon jamming especially with the drum magazine AK47 type 56 Assault Rifle Standard magazine/Drum magazine Folding Stock Nagent Revolver cylinder fed, manual reload Bereta model 34 Magazine fed -
Why do people think there would be more civilian weapons than military?
ninjacalypse replied to captainvette2112's topic in General Discussion
Actually it's advertised as 230sqm. But, what we have are a pistol, a mosin, which makes sense and a M4A1 which makes absolutely no sense. There's no in-between. That's it for now. I definitely think the M4A1 needs to be removed and replaced with AK47s quite obviously. There are many other Russian/Soviet weapons that would make sense to be added to DayZ SA. -
It would have been nice if more server options had been available from the get-go when the Alpha was released but currently what we have is the public hive. Should admins be able to set certain rules on the servers? Sure, but those features aren't in place right now and public is supposed to be public. There is still a lot of debate about private hives but the DayZ team has stated more options will be available to server admins in the future. Server locking is a definite no-no. I'm not actually sure if requiring players to register or be whitelisted is kosher or not. That would still probably fall under the category of server locking. I'm pretty sure I know who your server host is but I'm not firing off "I'm telling!" emails. I can definitely see both points of view, that server admins should abide by the current rules but also that admins should have the ability to moderate/whitelist their servers or host private servers. The grey area comes in when you have people locking servers, farming gear and then jumping to other public servers to pwn noobs, trolololol, etc. I'm not saying that's what you're doing but that is what is seen as the problem with locking servers on the public hive.

Look at the first video again. That guy obviously needs the hacks. Like, I mean...go ahead...give them to him. Half of his bullets in the first video hit the air. And you're right...it's funny because one of the of the developers bullied him on his stream into giving up his clanmates that were using cheats threatening to ban him along with them. I don't know why they had to threaten him into revealing who was hacking in his clan, because Artemis openly talked about the hackers in his clan on his stream, and openly encouraged them to use their hacks to "scout" and kill other players for his advantage. He's a drama queen just like everyone else affiliated with WarZ/Infestation from the top down and a paid shill as well. And don't get me wrong. I don't have a personal vendetta or anything against this guy. I could care less if they run around and hack in WarZ/Infestation and make google advertising moniez, which according to Titov, unlike every other FPS ever...is unhackable. I'm honestly embarrassed for anyone affiliated with that game. Artemis Knives is actually great for WarZ/Infestation. The more his nonsense/drama is publicized, the less likely honest players are going to be to spend money on this garbageware.

The problem is not necessarily your reasoning for locking down your server and kicking out anyone else who tried to join. The problem is locking your server down and kicking everyone, especially openly advertising the fact you're locking your server down and kicking anyone who tries to join is that it is explicitly against the rules, which is why I said if you have a problem with that there's no point in pleading your case to the community. Use the DayZ feedback tracker and tell Rocket you have a problem with it because those are the rules. As SmashT pointed out a couple days ago, servers are being shut down for violating the exact same rules, that you're openly admitting you intentionally broke. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158966-server-reporting/

My first experiences playing Dayz
ninjacalypse replied to VergaraZach's topic in New Player Discussion
Sounds like some prepubescent kids having a high-pitched gigglefest by saying naughty words for the first time out of their mothers' earshot. Not enough bandits with style, class and actual skill. -
fast and highly observant zombies are bad for the game
ninjacalypse replied to Antiklimax's topic in General Discussion
I don't know how much you've played of the Standalone but that doesn't work here...not yet at least...since the zombies walk through walls/doors/fences and other geometry. Hopefully, later on in the development, we'll get different types of zombies, more intelligent zombies, more dangerous zombies, hordes, etc. -
Stumbling across this in-game, I couldn't resist a chance to make a Princess Bride reference...

Sigh...yeah...I can't even bring myself to copy-paste my polite cookie-cutter response to this topic this time. And I hate to say things like Lrn2search, especially anything that begins with "Lrn2" or "It's an Alpha" but yeah...in this case. Suffice to say, Rocket is aware of the issue and has even addressed the issue and how it would be dealt with before the Alpha was even released. The devs are fully aware of this. If you really want to use the feedback tracker, but there are already a number of feedback tickets on combat logging. http://feedback.dayzgame.com/

I don't wanna sound like some elitist "game's gonna fail" ass but I'm pretty sure ESO is gonna pull a Bioware, charge players a subscription fee for as long as they can until they game goes F2P. I mean hell...ESO *ALREADY* has a cash shop. You have my Cutlass, Arrrrgh! Hells yeah. I haven't played with a flight stick since I had a Commodore 64. This game is gonna be my reason to buy one...and two extra monitors once it gets to a playable stage.

Forced 1st person? You wouldn't even need it. He was barely able to kill those newspawns without reloading. Did you notice how many shots he missed, trying to kill both the zombies and the players? And thank god I wasn't drinking anything when I scrolled down and saw one of his retorts on the youtube video that said this, "Negative ghostrider. Check my other 1000 videos. I am a professional FPS player. I make everyone look like they just got the game out of the box. Ask around bro."

Realistic version of a Radar.
ninjacalypse replied to Chronos Blackburn's topic in General Discussion
Well, first off SvU_Saber's about "special needs kids" was completely uncalled for. That said...and don't take this the wrong way, being that you said you were in the infantry in the Army, I'm a little surprised you don't know how to spell azimuth. If it was any other user I'd just write it off as them not knowing better. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt though that you're just a really bad speller. :P Anyway, to the actual point, seeing as the Wolfhound system was only being fielded a few years ago by the U.S. Army, I don't think it really fits in a post-apocalyptic Russian country that oozes Cold War era ambiance. -
I don't really see the point in getting into an argument about WarZ but WarZ used more than just the engine. They also re-used numerous models, assets, etc. from War Inc. That's not all either... The WarZ developers/creators ripped off art assets from the Walking Dead as in-game artwork for WarZ, ripped off the weapon interaction/ui system from Crysis, they literally copy/pasted the terms of service for WarZ straight from the League of Legends ToS verbatim (LoL indeed), they abusively banned, threatened users critical of the game and also sent DMCA takedown notices to people critical of WarZ and then Titov the game's creator later apologized and said that the "vocal minority" of users who complained about WarZ were totally right to...they didn't unban all the players they banned...just said they were right. Then WarZ's community manager Kewk, also threatened anyone who downloaded and played DeadZ which was a ripoff of WarZ (ripoff of a ripoff, lol) that the FBI would go after them, their lives would be "destroyed" and their Steam accounts would all get banned, despite the fact DeadZ wasn't even a steam game. You can't make up this stuff this bad. Heck, you don't have to. Not only that but Titov also referred to WarZ players as "f---ots" for gameplay that was heavily encouraged by WarZ's mechanics and cash shop. The abuse continued in the WarZ forums as well. Here's one fun response from WarZ support: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/102595-before-you-try-warz/ "I'm sorry our Executive Producer's words have offended your delicate sensibilities. Pip pip cheerio." Funny comment about "delicate sensibilities" coming from WarZ forum moderators who banned anyone who had anything remotely negative to say about WarZ. They even slammed DMCA takedown notices on fan videos on Youtube, you know...videos that were actually meant as good publicity for WarZ. They're continuing down the same road with Infestation. Die in Infestation? You'll have to wait 4 hours to respawn or spend real money in the cash shop to respawn immediately. That doesn't even make business sense. You want to sell cash shop items? You want players playing your game, not having to wait 4 hours or be forced to spend real money just to respawn. Have an issue with Infestation? Better keep it to yourself if you don't want your account banned.

Not to belabor the thread, but I believe WarZ was originally named War Inc. :P I.E. the fact they just used the old War Inc engine and models and slapped in some zombies. Terrible f2p game + zombies and a cash shop still equals terrible game. You can claim that's subjective if you want but I don't think you're gonna find too many people that agree with you.
-
That's a cute strawman argument there but I never said people can't enjoy WarZ and people who do enjoy it are dirt or some other subclass of human. What I said was, "I don't think you're going to find a lot of people taking you seriously, if you keep trying to compare DayZ to WarZ aka This game was so terrible we had to rename it." I'm not saying you can't enjoy WarZ but there is no debate about the fact it was so bad it had to be renamed more than once, both for trademark issues and then because WarZ had such a terrible rollout Valve pulled it off Steam and refunded everyone's money. In his own roundabout and vague way the developer himself admits it was terrible. Continuing to compare DayZ to WarZ in multiple posts and implying that WarZ is better because global chat hasn't been implemented as an option yet in DayZ SA pretty much just amounts to unsuccessful trolling. While it should be optional and I'm pretty sure will be in the future, I think you'll also find a majority of players who don't want a global chatroom while they're playing DayZ.

No one is doing anything. The name of the server is DO NOT JOIN and this is what you see (below) when you join. Before you start with "It's their server, they can do what they want!" it's actually not. If you have a problem with that, you should let Rocket know that you think server operators on the public hive should be allowed to kick anyone who joins their server and basically lock their server.
-
I don't know who the host is or who the admin is but apparently KillSwitch, Skaterfull83 and Tyton89 are the only people allowed on that server.
-
Or this: But in all seriousness, I think whatever vehicles we get should be low-key, non-military (maybe a humvee) and high maintenance depending on the class of the vehicle.
-
Lick should be a contextual option for other players.

This guy has multiple accounts on Steam, the two I saw have both been VAC banned. He's obviously not very smart. If you want to report a hacker, you can do so here: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/login_page.php

I wrote a more fleshed out Survivor's Guide for new players to DayZ SA here that I think would be useful to add to the list. It's a bit of a read but it covers pretty much all the basics for beginners. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/156472-survivors-guide-to-dayz-sa/ -
Lol, yeah...Zombies don't care bout no walls! :P They do seem to be unable to circumnavigate stairs at the moment though.

The engine for DayZ SA is a rebuilt engine that uses parts of the Operation Arrowhead engine, some code from the Arma 3 engine as well as it's own code. It's not the Arma 2 engine and it's not the Arma 3 engine.
