One thing I noticed is that player eating/drinking sounds seem to be a lot louder than they should be. I shouldn't be able to hear the sound of someone gulping a soda or eating some beans through the second story of a concrete building and so on.

On the inventory screen it will actually say Healthy. If you are hurt in Healthy status, it will change to Healing. While in healing status, you may want to hunker down somewhere until you fully regain your blood and it goes back to Healthy.

Yeah, I've been able to hear people talking as well that are nowhere nearby. This is extremely infuriating when you have no idea if there are zombies or players nearby.

Yeah, I think the fall damage/distance still needs to be tweaked. I literally just fell 4 feet (no momentum) and died.

Excessive server hopping right after a patch is a great way to get your character wiped. Wipes are usually due to server not updated to latest version, server desync with public hive or server not whitelisted by public hive. Find 5 or 10 good server where you have not experienced character wipes and favorite them. If you server hop excessively, your chances of being randomly wiped will be much greater.

Well, as has been pointed out the day/night cycles are supposed to be based on the local time of the server. That said, it's possible for server operators to adjust the day/night cycle themselves and/or periodically restart the server to avoid the night cycle. Unless the server operator advertises that in the server name, I don't believe that this is information provided through the server details and therefor not filterable/searchable.

230 square kilometers is the same as 88 square miles roughly. By comparison GTA 5 boasts only roughly 49 square miles, including the oceans/lakes.

Well for starters neither GTA 4 or Skyrim are VAC enabled games. Skyrim isn't even an online game, unless you install some heavy modifications to the game which turns it into pseudo-online jankiness fest. Rules pertaining to the use of things like SweeetFX which is commonly detected as a third party modification tool vary from game to game and company to company. There are countless users who claim to have been VAC banned for using SweetFX. Whether they were simply using SweetFX, using it as a hacktool or both is hard to say but there are countless people who claim to have been banned from numerous games on Steam, both games with VAC and without VAC.

It's possible if DayZ gets lan or mod support in which case said servers would not be part of the public server hive (i.e. your character would not transfer to the public servers). Otherwise, highly unlikely.

That doesn't confirm anything. All that is, is a statement by a mod stating that a player was banned for a confirmed Call of Duty cheat, not for SweetFX. In fact, you might have a hard time getting a straight response from anyone on the Valve ban/moderation team concerning SweetFX. The only thing I could find was a statement by a Valve mod who simply said in response to a player who claimed they were VAC banned for using SweetFX that, "VAC doesn't look for or consider intentions."

DayZ boasts a 230 square kilometer map. It may surprise you to know there are places and towns besides Elektro and Balota. If your problem is loot respawns as you claim, then simply join a lower pop server or a server that advertises "restarts every x hours." A fresh spawn can run for miles without dying of thirst or hunger. Thirst shouldn't even be an issue since there are many ponds, streams and water spigots readily available.

First off, there seems to be some confusion in this thread about whether you're referring to the DayZ Mod or the DayZ Standalone. If you're referring to the Mod and you're having issues with the "shitty engine" (which sounds like you know what you're talking about) then you should go to the Arma 2 forums for support, since the DayZ Mod is built on the Arma 2 engine. For the Standalone: You said, "my computer is able to play this game since I can play any other recent game without any lag" That doesn't mean that your computer meets the actual minimum specs. The reason OP is getting negative responses is because his post is negative. He gives little to no details about his problem and simply claims he's been ripped off and that his computer can't run the game because of it's "shitty engine." I can run the game just fine and I'm in the mid-range for specs so if I'm going to make blanket assumptions like "DeHerp" then I would assume he has a lower end computer that perhaps doesn't meet the specs or barely meets them. SweetFX is commonly used to inject ESP/Radar cheats which is why it's often detected as a third party hack tool. You can actually make DayZ look a lot better simply by turning down the gamma/brightness settings.

While PVE only or No KOS servers aren't enforceable currently on the other hand it's also pretty lame, cheesy and talentless for players in full mil gear to intentionally camp easy kills on said servers, where there is practically zero risk to them and even if there was somehow they would just combat log anyway.
