Server hopping is killing this game FAST

I think if they added a messload of zombies, server hopping would be less prevalent since people can essentially die while logging in or while trying to get military gear. Imagine if the military zones were thick in zombies like deadrising, see how many people hop around then. They would still hop, but not in the mess of zombies thats for sure.

"Bandits" A rant about certain people

The best part is... its ALPHA!
  3. 1. Go to balota 2. Find mossin 3. Headshot 4.Profit
  4. Well, its gona stay that way. I mean, would you really be motivated to work if you had all the money you needed?
  5. Thanks for letting the community participate in the alpha, after 60 hours of the current phase, i have found the following regarding mechanics, bugs will be posted elseware. After wandering over half the map on full servers, i rarely found anyone, and when i did, it ended uglyFound northern airfield, got geared up, still alonewandered to the northern outskirts, to the castle (no loot) to the north area, and back (boring lol)Died a couple times, 1. being wiped 2. Afk zombiewandered the map some more, found each town to be pretty much the sameLearned about balota Now this is where i found the current metagame server hopped to full gear, mossin, pistolkilled many playersdiedrepeat, with minor revision to tacticsmade a few trustworthy friends, died to a few betrayalsrealized it was a means to an end Oh, and there's a couple zombies. Thanks again! It was quite fun, the visuals and the new experience (never played the mod). Ill check back once some major patches roll out, im looking foward to it :)

60 Hour Gameplay Feedback (Im out)

I either read the context wrong or you missed the point... I played 60 hours since i bought the game (according to steam). i found the metagame, played it for a while, (5 hours?) made some friends, and thats about it. Saying someone is "burned out" on an alpha is like saying someone is "burned out" from playing with a quarter full set of lego's. Alphas really are never really engineered to be fun anyways, they are the foundation on which the fun is made :)
  9. If there were ever a game to be considered "Hardcore", this would be it. You spawn, and you begin the story of aj_ . From the time you spawn to the time you die is your story, it can be whatever you want it to be. No quest bobbles, no one telling you that you have to go here or there, its all about what YOU want to do. If you want to go around unarmed the whole time, just being a collector of the stuff you need to survive, you can do so. If you want to be a mule for a party you can do that. If you want to be a peace-keeper in a town, making sure people are well treated when they come and go, you can do that. If you want to be a bandit who kills others for gear you can do that. Its up to you... The only reason it seems like everyone is a bandit right now, is because there is virtually no content to suggest otherwise. Once surviving becomes harder, people will flock to one another to team up.
  10. 3rd party forums as well as public youtube videos are going bananas over the current version of Dayz as it has become exceedingly easy to hack. Not only is it east to hack, the hacks in this game give so much more of value than a simple ESP, they are allowing players to shoot forever, become undetected by the client (invisible), fly, teleport, and all sorts of stuff. While players try to rejoice around what they thought would be a relatively fair game, its becoming more and more apparent that, in its current state, is actually even more hack-able than most multiplayer games. In fact, the hacks currently allow so much, that you could compare Dayz to say, a completely mod-able game like Borderlands. Hacker sites around the globe are looking forward to amazing profits in 2014 as the popularity of this game grows, as well as its hack or be hacked mentality.

Screen is off to the left a little.

Sir, plz.. Buy a new monitor. Its 2014
  13. Watched a stream where a guy sped hacked around and did some weird stuff. Caused the whole stream to call it a night. I noticed the devs are using tools like "speed up time" Slow time" "turbo" Ect, so whats happening is these super smart hackers have somehow found a way to manipulate these things. The only way to stop them, is to remove these tools. From my research, i have found that these doors, while they may SEEM closed, are actually wide the fux open. Since the Dayz team seems to do a lot of real time server development, they flapping their big fat exploit at hackers who only need an hour or so to bust it wide open. The only way to solve the problem, is to remove the door completely...
  14. Indeed, but look at other titles such as ESO for example, that are trying to use the most vocal community members of the MMO world to shape their game. Its a mess, you have people claiming its too mainstream and other claiming its not mainstream enough. When the game comes out there will be very few people who actually stick with it and even fewer who are satisfied with the whole package. In contrast, look at Star Citizen, a game out of no where with a vision to make something that no one ever went on Reddit and screamed about, a game where only time will tell what will unfold, the work put in by the artists, the dedication of the lead, and the ethic of the entire crew. Another example.. Wildstar. A game claimed by a vocal minority to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but the numbers indicate that no one really cares, its not original and all thats happening is a few vocal community members, along with completely cliche and riskless developers, are making what appears to be the most boring game of all time. Its small NDA lift attracted like 2k viewers which is pretty sad considering its so called "hype" EDIT: i meant verbalist not vocalist
  15. No one ever told the devs of ocarina of time to make something easier/harder/easier to do. There was no mass internet forum or social media. Just a bunch of artist, making a wonderful piece of art. Dean Hall is developing the game around his own wonderful image of a great game, something to stand the test of time and criticism

    Here comes the hackers...

Actually, i dont think this is a hack, i hear of these weird glitches that teleport people to god only knows where. I once logged in at the base of a tower, inside the wall, took me like 10 mins to vault my way out. But an ocean teleport sounds horrible, you cant even kill yourself

Will the SA go on sale?

    it is on sale...
  18. Frost20

    MAgnum anyone?>

Ihas anyone found the magnum? Is it in the military bases? Like the big airfield? I have not found a single person with one yet
  19. I think Dean Hall is well, well aware of this issue and he knew it was going to be a problem, but based on the extensive research, and stalking of every word Dean Hall says, the only reason this is still a thing is because it allows him and his team to test the game in real time more efficiently. If they added a 10 second logout timer, that would mean each time he tests the game in its real form he would lose 10 seconds each time he needed to log in and log out, and it would also cause issues for players who crash. That said, Combat logging is a MAJOR drawback to gameplay and is being adopted faster than the plague. It's really bad, even for testing, it keeps players alive longer than they should be alive. Thus, as more and more people do this, the more loot, the more fully geared, the more trolling will happen in the game. It hurts the flow of the game as natural selection should eliminate players, keeping the pool of fully geared people very unrealistically high. It doesn't just hurt testing, it also hurts the morale of the community, which is priceless. Current combat system: Pro's: Faster Development, protection for crashes Cons: Unrealistic test flow, community damage

    Invisible hacker

As with all alpha's the sync is pretty shiz, but its better here than most alphas. Like today for example i noticed a friend who cliped in and out of fences and buildings, they just need to sync it better.

    Blood Not Regenerating?

IF you guys press tab and look at your character, does it say healthy? Mine does. Are you drinking soda? I hear that lowers the overall health of the character. Please answer even if yes or no as i would like to know, i think i regained some color, but i hadnt lost much so im not sure if its just me going crazy :) but it did say "health" next to my character model.
  22. First and foremost, i like the game, despite exceedingly noticeable lack of zombies in most towns, its still a fun game... But I have been unable to see it in color for 5 hours. I have eaten every type of food i can think of, taken multivitamins, and drank tons of water, my character does not moan anymore, yet, i cannot see anything but a dull, grey environment. Has anyone actually recovered from this problem?
  23. It's an evolution. What you play now, the expirence you are getting right now Will be gone by tomorrow. New mechanics will be added that will dynamically change the game-play, and as you get used to it, others will as well. You will remember these days of early alpha and tell it to your game childs. "Back in the day, if you went unconscious, you were screwed" and "There were tons of phsyco killers running around, since that's all they could do.. there were no vehicles!" Obviously a bunch of other things as well. In my opinion with computer games, the fully released, polished games, last me a good 4-5 months until i put them down for good, with a slight chance i may temporarily return for a "fix". However, this alpha is a rare, special case. Thanks to its sandbox nature which is "Rare as hell in MMO's". Replay-ability, and a skillful learning curves, this alpha is argued by some to play as if its a fully released game. If it were an EA game, this would be the complete package. Over the course of the next 2 years, things are going to change, we will get thousands of new things to tinker with with, including new mechanics. For now however, let us bask in this prehistoric land of DAYZ. We are making history. Game of the decade?

    The Slave/Quest method

I'm very pleased to be able to play this wonderful sandbox MMO. That said, i think its time to start a trend. A trend that gives lesser players a fighting chance, and makes everyone happy. -The slave method. 1. Find noob 2. Tell noob to drop everything 3. give noob a crappy weapon (wrench) 4. Tell noob to run in front of player 5. Use noob to scout, check dangerous zones 6. Feed and protect noob -The Quest Method 1. Either find noob, or the noob finds you (Maybe you get famous and they want to do this for you) 2. Take anything of value off the noob (optional) 3. Tell the noob to go and find you something i.e. Can opener, medical supplies, sleeping bag 4. Upon bringing you the goods, either give back ransom items (if applicable) and/or give a nice reward i.e 5 opened cans of beans Everyone can enjoy these methods, the driver, for having the power to control another for his own gain. The noob, for an impact event of immersion found in no other game Whats your method?

Feature to really help combat logging.

Add a 7 second logout timer, logout in a safe place or die Add server glue, must wait 5 mins to join a different server, must wait 15 mins to rejoin the one you just left Only add server glue once game is guaranteed stable.
