So is this a zombie survival game?
hunterkilla replied to Silentwalker's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It seems you are unlucky, I spend alot of time up north and try to avoid those small towns with no buildings to enter and rarely come across other people unless its a deer hut or stary etc. I like to keep myself hidden when I get close and on the towns with shops etc i will spot people crouch walking in and if I was a murderer it would be an easy kill. I prefer to watch them and see what they get upto. -
To all you QQ'ers whining about getting killed, l2p or gtfo
hunterkilla replied to despair (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well if you notice a trend for a griefer on a hill, dont go the route you went before. I now go around and then look down where a griefer might be, put yourself in a numpties shoes and then work out how to avoid said numpty.... its like in the beginning I would do the wiggle of friendship, now.... yeah right... either hide or shoot.... Shame as I was damn sexy doing the friendship wiggle -

I love seeing these threads from people saying you have to play it the way they play it or you are a carebear... murderer... cheater etc etc... The fact is this game has the ability to PVP as well as PVE and if you want to run around shooting in the air whilst saying on voice " I like beans" you can..... Dont force me to play the way you play, let me play my way and if I have to kill a player to protect myself I will but I won't snipe him on a hill in cherno for his flashlight as thats just a crappy way to play ( in my opinion, but anyone who wants to do that can ) So..... I get shot... I don't cry I just go out and adapt my playstyle.... Do you? -
Night time doesn't serve a purpose
hunterkilla replied to jayboltz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was on a server the other day and it was realtime I.e. it was 8am in game and 8am here.. Lovely and sunny in RL and in game pitch black. I spent the next hour watching the sun slowly rise so my gameplay changed over that hour which was really fun to do. I think night needs to be really dark but would like it to get lighter a bit earlier. so many times I logon and its dark in the server yet still light here... or maybe longer on the getting dark and sunrise so people can play when its almost dark and still see enough but dark enough to adjust your gameplay -
I dont understand what they get out of it. Do they just enjoy the laughs or what. I mean its not cause they are uber skilled at hacking, just at running a script.... oohhh wow so manly

Whoever gave me the silenced rifle on server 1522
hunterkilla replied to Thortimer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Its moments like this that make Dayz so entertaining.... as has been said I am sure most people would have just shot you from 800m and giggled -
couple of times I got close to NW airfield and was waiting to plan my assualt.. logged off so next time I could take my time. logged back into wilderness and once it said " You are dead" wtf but i logged off each time and came back in on the coast with all my stuff... annoying as hell to make my third run with same character but least I didnt die or get stuck in sheepland

For some people that would be called an ideal date!!

The film I am legend isnt a good conversion to film. The book is much more interesting especially the payoff...

I think this question would need to be asked in about 10+ years time. When you are totally immersed including full vision, you have to move and walk around and get senses like smell, touch and temperature. THATS when we have to think about how immersed ina game we are and how i will affect us. Then will we be able to detach ourselves from whats in the game and whats in real life As it is now, we get attached to our on screen character but we know they will die and someone will take the beans... we just start again....

Why do regular/recruit servers exist?
hunterkilla replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Do a google search on "playing video games makes me sick" and you will see how many people it affects and what affects.... trust me having to lay down for 2 hours after playing a game for 10 mins isnt fun.... -
Why do regular/recruit servers exist?
hunterkilla replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
THIS.... in some games after 5-10 mins I get v sick and have to lie down. Skyrim was one and I had to mess around to get the settings so I didnt want to throw up. Dayz with no head bob isnt as bad but still not as comfortable as third person... I am ok with removing nametags etc as I tried that and yes it gives away peoples locations etc but also yours. As to seeing yourself on the map. I have used that but also like working out where I am so removing that wouldnt be a problem I would like to think people should have options, want all of them on and learn the game... sure goto recruit.... want to up your game... go to veteran... Yes people would get kind of advantage by getting kit easier in recruit compared to veteran but only when they move upto veteran...they are playing on a server with everyone else having the same settings, you can peak around corners easily in third person... so can the other player.... -
Controversial Topic: BANDITRY IS DEAD.
hunterkilla replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Having a logout timer on this would have made it more interesting. They would have to decide to take you on or be robbed.. this was the sniper had no downside -
Learn from my mistake, on the roof of a fire station, prone on the ground and I wanted to lean over to look down below... not a problem except I forgot I was prone and that means you roll... ALL THE WAY DOWN.... death but that was death through stupidity

The Payoff - Best Experience in DayZ
hunterkilla replied to Kin0's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I learnt about not shooting too close when I was sniping zeds from a friend.... I got closer and they heard and we ended up running away like little children ( this was when zombies were harder to shake off and couldnt lose them behind a tree My biggest payoff. Meeting up with 2 strangers and running around for hours shooting zombies and a couple of bandits, then at the end of the night I had to leave and I watched them walk into the distance... Was almost like a scene out of a movie.... -
It happens I am afraid. I have broken my legs and climbed up the hospital ladder to get to morphine and ended up falling again and dying.

Friendlies in Day Z .... never seen one
hunterkilla replied to v3c1c's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think the problem is now with direct channel you have to be alot closer to talk to someone ( typing or voice ) so straight away people are very careful and expect the worse. At that distance you don't want to stop to type for fear of getting shot. I had alot of meetings with friendlies when side channel was working and yes they could then turn around and shoot me but that was the risk I took. I think once a radio system is implemeneted even if it just brings back side channel as the radio station it will allow more people to talk -
Seems that we turn into the things we set out to destroy.
hunterkilla replied to Hendrix27's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hopefully in time when the mod changes and allows more creativity we will see people killing with more style and thought. I myself am trying not to be a cold blooded killer but when I am faced with someone pointing a gun, its him or me. -
Why is this advertised as a Zombie game?
hunterkilla replied to SolarClipz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I remember when they had alot more zombies and straight away people complained or when zombies could spot you a mile away and people complained and now people understand how to dodge zombies, people complain. Fact is the game needs to zombies so you have to decide how to go into a town, guns blazing? quiet and sneaky? or sit and watch. The monsters arent the zombies, its us humans. -
This game will fail long term if the PK problem isnt addressed
hunterkilla replied to Gadget (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think you shouldnt have two seperate modes one linked to the hive and one not. The idea is everything you do is fleeting and you can easily lose what you have and go back to the beginning. Having a safer than safe mode just makes the game lose all its tension and becomes a walking simulator. If you are dying all the time and not lasting over 30 mins you need to change how you play. I get into cherno, gear up and get the hell out. Sure I die sometimes but no problem and I try to play tactically to reduce the chances of being shot whilst someone is being chased by zombies. I look at GTA and think that this had missions and it was a sandbox but because it didn't have other players it felt empty and lifeless. Imagine GTA V with 100 other players, are you going to get shot... yes and it will make it so much more interesting. This game needs PVP and PVE. I think it needs more factors like temperature, less loot spawning, harder / more zombies so those who want to survive in the wilderness can do that and those who want to kill other players can. I also think it needs a way for in game communication, side channel made it possible to hook up with strangers and I had some amazing moments but now with direct channel its "Oh look there is someone... hello.... BANG" as when your up close you can't risk your beans. Having Radios would allow people to chat and meet up and maybe having different channels would be similar to side channel, global and direct so people have the choice to turn on the radio and hear people or not. This would reduce PVP and give people the chance to risk meeting others in game. -
AHHHH ArmA 2 OA Down for Maintenance!!
hunterkilla replied to stormster10's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I did the remote IP again and it worked this time. Stayed in game for about 45 mins and then today went in normally and everything was as it should be. Excellent solution when you can't get in normally -

*What to do as solo player after survival?*
hunterkilla replied to K_Tetsu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you are too worried about losing your kit, you either A) sit in a tree far inland away from the airfields etc and just cook meat and do nothing B) leave the game This is all about risk v reward, do you go into town and risk getting killed .... losing the kit is what ups the tension and by not wanting to lose it you will take no risks and end up in a tree wondering if your playing a game or just tree watching I say this as someone who survived and then went... hmm now what. So I ended up riding through cherno on a bike tinkling the bell.. yes I died but I havent laughed so hard seeing and hearing all the gunshots as they missed ( Well except the ones that hit)
