I so want a skip animation in this game. That would freak out a sniper seeing me skipping along happily past some zeds

I found a dew.... I held onto it like it was liquid gold and kept a close eye on anything and anyone as I didnt want to lose my precious. Next thing I know as I walk through Electro, there are a 100 tents setup by the firestation.. Gripping my dew I walked behind the church, cautious.... BLAM Strange things happen when you have the DEW.

Once you have played the game and got used to how to avoid zombies without having to prone all the time and then lose them when you upset them and the layouts of the towns you will find you can gear up a lot quicker and not be so upset about dying. I have a semi set routine of going to a bigger city ( usually cherno ) and getting Alice backpack ideally, some food and drink, hatchet, knife, matches, some sort of gun ( doesn't matter TOO much as you will go north to upgrade) and then couple morphine, 2 painkillers and some bandages... once I have those I know I can go live up north and raid the airfields etc However once you get used to the game you can decide to stay down south and have some fun, go help out noobs with new kit ( prepare to die alot ) or go counter sniping of bandits etc Best tip to understand zombies... trees are your friend, if you see one or more coming towards you, either kill them and prepare for the rest to get upset or just run to a tree line... you will learn you can literally run behind a tree and prone and they will lose interest, the more zombies following the more you might have to zigzag in trees before you can prone.. I also use this to get out of a city quickly by just running like mad to the treeline ( dont do this on a full server when you hear gunfire nearby)

Im also happy to team up and take people up north and do runs to the airfield and generally help out or just have some fun. We could also start up a bartering system where if you need ammo and another fogey has some we coul trade or help out. Maybe have some fogey tents and tell others the location of one inc server so we can add stuff to it or help ourselves... Im currently throwing alot into a strangers tent but I borrowed a gun from them. Sure they wont mind the silenced rounds i left for them. Fogeys of the world.... Lets get ready to Grumble!

How do I play now that i'm fully geared
hunterkilla replied to zillabunny's topic in New Player Discussion
Here is what I would do, get in the truck, drive down to cherno and blast the horn. Await sweet death and get used to dying and restarting, else you will hide in the bushes up the north and do nothing and then not want to logon.... making it "sitting under a tree simulator" -
How do you decide to kill somone?
hunterkilla replied to #Sleepy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't shoot on sight... I like to work out if they are friendly or if they are a threat. yes it means I might die more times than other people but a) I often will then team up with someone and have more fun B) I enjoy the gearing up process -
LOL imagine a group of us going around cherno shouting at the kids to stop shooting so loudly or moaning to the zombies for the smell...

only my gas is deadlier now than when i was 30

UK player, 43 and don't consider myself an old fogey but would happily wear the tag. I never shoot first and try to give people benefit of the doubt ( have got shot many times due to this ) but would shoot to kill anyone who presses the trigger first. I spend most of my time wandering around alone due to not always finding trustworthy people but happy to team up with others and the best times in the game is when you come across a stranger and you both decide not to shoot and spend some time exploring. I also like to try other things in game to keep it fresh like getting good loot then going back to cherno to offer it to new spawns or riding a bicycle in cherno and seeing how long till I die I play either some daytimes or usually after 9pm at night UK time. Been playing this for some time and consider myself versed in locations and the ways of Dayz.

What will make DayZ a better Mod?
hunterkilla replied to Joker427's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
yes, there is no way a person using a console controller up against a pc player with keyboard and mouse would stand a chance, microsoft even did a test on this and realised that the PC mouse / keyboard combo wiped the floor with the console. PC doesnt have autoaim etc... I wont even answer the other points as people have already pointed out the flaws -
Ride a bike in Cherno and tinkle the bell. Score 1 point for every minute you stay alive. double the points if its in a high pop server. Sneak up on someone and on voice go " manamanah" and see if they continue the muppet theme tune on voice find a tent and fill it with one of something, ie empty tin cans, makrov ammo or just empty the tent of its contents all around the tent

Rocket: Losing faith.
hunterkilla replied to thermonuke1@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
But in alpha you do add things that can break the game, you have to try things to see what works and what doesnt. he is just releasing it to a much larger group of testers than normal. Have you ever tested an alpha COD or Battlefield? Nope.... bet they had MAJOR issues and glitches but we never got to see them so arent worried about them. My guess is he is now going to be much more careful with releasing patches and taking longer to do so, he released alot in a short space of time and got backlash when things went wrong... so now he would be sensible to slow down the releases and try to get it working as much as possible beforehand. However he will then get a backlash from people who want patches quicker.... methinks he cannot win -
Rocket: Losing faith.
hunterkilla replied to thermonuke1@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
See for me its the artifacts that are more important than tents, people aren't going to NW airfleid or Stary etc due to not being able to see anything. I think in one sense Rocket was a genius in getting Dayz out when he did in alpha state and got so much interest ( way more than he expected) and has been able to see what works and doesn't work. However by releasing patches which can break the game he has had a backlash from people expecting a released game when its in an alpha state and during development you do put things in that can cause major problems, however in a usual game development cycle the end user doesnt get to see or have to deal with these issues. Also I think Rocket has gone from doing this little mod to now having alot of interest and having to spread his time around, he has all the press and events to goto, standalone and the mod. How do you prioritise with everyone wanting a piece of you. In my opinion he should get the main issues sorted ie artifacts and if possible the tents and then concentrate on the standalone...hackers are going to be an issue in the mod and not so much in the standalone If anyone is really fed up and losing faith in him, step away for a bit, allow him and his team time and don't expect everything straight away. That way you won't be dissapointed and then maybe you will come back and enjoy the game.... or maybe go and find a new game to enjoy. -
I've seen players with 20+ days survived...HOW?
hunterkilla replied to Aypoc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I had a character of 24 days and I got teleported a fair few times or glitched back to the coast but never killed by hackers until day24 when i got teleported into the sky and died. I never combat logged, never Alt f4 and lived off the land for food and drink and mainly went onto lo pop servers as anytime I went on a server which was 20+ people that was when I saw hacking going on. One time I got thunderdomed and I quit straight away Also the glitches have made it alot easier to stay alive, goto starry or nw airfield and hardly anyone there due to the glitches, learn to move around and avoid them and get kitted up. So it is possible, the downside is so few people you end up going looking for action. -
I had this on a server the other day, gutted a few animals and nothing showed up. Changed servers and issue was solved.

I Shot A Zombie And It Said It Hurts?
hunterkilla replied to Miss Cleo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It would be interesting as Rocket has mentioned how in the standalone the zombies will be in different states of degredation, ie walkers, crawlers etc and maybe the walkers can sort of talk or say words like " ouch.... hurt" and then you get a more animalistic cry for the really messed up zombie with no legs -
I Shot A Zombie And It Said It Hurts?
hunterkilla replied to Miss Cleo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I want them to go " Its just a flesh wound" -
Why should you leave a corpse full of kit on show. Hide it so that player can't get kitted out again quickly or other players find a nice shiny gun to shoot you with. Either that, or empty the corpse and just leave rusty tin cans and make the body " Hobo Corpse"

Will dogs be friendly in 1.7.3?
hunterkilla replied to BwobBwub's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You have to tempt them with some food and then you can train them. Could be a nice idea but want to see it in action before I decide if its going to add to the game or not. Imagine sending a dog into a deerstand and getting the zeds to chase them, you go in and get loot then whistle for your dog to come back. However imagine the feeling if the dog gets bitten and dies.... or worse.. ZEDOG -
It would be a wonderful idea and could be an amazing experience, however it would be like a big red target painted on anyone in that area.... snipers would take out most from a distance. I would like the facility for people to stumble across a bbq going on and being invited in.... putting weapons beside you and relaxing, but at the moment you know that won't work due to hackers, KOS and general fear of breaking a leg whilst sitting down
-
In real life or Dayz? both methinks.
-
Which would you rather do, go up against a player with a large gun and you have a crowbar. Using the crowbar against zombies isnt always a sensible idea as you end up losing blood, its good for when you spawn and awaiting a decent weapon or if you want to be a silent killer without a silenced gun and ammo

Creepiest moment in my life on a game... (Is this the hidden patch that was for the lulz?)
