I've not found one as of yet. Came across a semi-functional bus that I managed to drive until it ran out of gas, a busted car and a busted truck.

Spending more time in loading screen then in game
Banicks replied to Seance (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
+1. Loading times are quite long lately. Alt tab, knock a fap out, have a read of the news, back in 20 minutes and you should be in. -
You're going to learn really quick this isn't a comic book or a game where your idealism will prosper. I'm just going to say, Welcome to DayZ, trust noone. All it takes is a hatchet to the back of your head or a rifle round to your torso from God knows where, with your next statement being "WTF".

Not really, a simple script to revert all global bans since the moment 95777 should be doable by BattlEye. Of course, it's natural to be quite cynical of anyones character on the internet, plus with what we see in DayZ behaviour as well. But it may just be too much coincidence for this to start popping up the same day 95777 is released and I'm not going to chance it for at least a week to camp for 'thousands' of players posting about being banned. If this does happen, obviously there is an issue with the latest release. If it doesn't then we can assume the people who have posted their woes either are hackers or have come into possesion of in-game hacked items at some stage or altered scripts. Undertake SOP contact for BattlEye and I would also recommend creating a ticket at BI regarding the Beta causing your global ban. If BI receive enough tickets about this they will most likely instigate contact with BattlEye for resolution. Either way you are most likely not going to be playing for a little while.

Welcome to DayZ

Have you not seen most Zombie movies? Sometimes the Zombie will eat your brain or destroy the majority of your body and you dont turn.

The concern is that the people who have been banned are using the latest release of ARMA 2 Beta. Some haven't, but it's early days yet. I haven't upgraded to the latest Beta nor been banned, and I don't have or alter scripts etc. I will give it a week to ensure that the latest patch isn't causing illegal global bans on legit players, Im just not in the mood to risk $30 and probably a months worth of emails to resolve this. Then again, if it is going to be a widespread issue I'm hoping that the DayZ team will communicate with BI and BattlEye to resolve the issues and undo all global bans since 95777 (or whatever it is). Unfortunately this will probably also revert global bans for actual hackers since the beta, but it would be the only way to resolve this issue for legit players illlegitamately banned.

I call BS. It takes practically two hours to get to NWA and even then AS50's are rare as hen's teeth unless you're the luckiest guy on Earth and finding tent camps/crashed helis each respawn. But I highly doubt it. If anything the military installations would have working vehicles. Chernarus' civilians are basically stuck in a post-cold war era and the country is supposed to be poor. The exception being the corrupt government placing all it's funds into the military powers to ensure they retain power by controlling it's people. Basically it's a poor country controlled by the military wing government. Ergo, civilian vehicles would not be in perfect working order, because civilians would be spending what little cash they have on food and maintaining their farms. I suggest you play singleplayer Arma 2, it's quite obvious you have not.

Bad trade as said. FN FAL + ammo will only drop from heli-crash sites, so basically to find ammo for the FAL you have to find crash sites. The best possible combo IMO is the DMR (barracks/hanger/crash site) and M14 (crash site) - they utilise the same ammo (DMR) so you only have to worry about carrying one kind of ammo. I had this combo and it was great for long range sniping and mid/close range with the red dot scope that was attached to the M14. It's not really a bug, moreso a revert from lack of server to master server communication. I think you're better off now.

ARMA 3 engine for DayZ standalone vote
Banicks replied to conthefruiter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm hoping he mods it a bit further though. I remember Rocket indicating he would like to have a Minecraft-esque experience, allowing us to perhaps create a wooden fort, trenches, dead weight traps, so on. -
Hackers don't need to spawn crashed helis, they can access the entire loot table from their admin tool I believe. But 2-3 within viewing distance does seem a bit unusual. Perhaps it is extreme coincidence or a hacker messing around with the tool.

Why do my tents keep getting discovered?
Banicks replied to suspectmammal's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just bad luck perhaps. Perhaps it's the same reason that in all of Chernarus players end up finding each other and fighting. I ended up lost on a fresh character one time and finding a 10 tent camp full of decent gear. Good fun to find that, it's like winning the lottery. -
This...is...CHERNARUS!! It is supposed to be a broken down country where farmers have old bomby cars that don't work, so on, and so forth.

"The game will be released in an Alpha build for a low price point"
Banicks replied to despair (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
First of all they're developing it starting now, it is not going to be Alpha released based on Arma 2. It has already discussed what engine it will use. The fact it will be released in Alpha does not phase me. #1: Because Rocket is in charge. #2. Becuase BI don't focus on console gaming, they focus on PC gaming and even in Alpha release, it will still be more polished and functional that the mass of crappy half assed console ports that are being released onto PC lately. -
The tactical significance of sniper rifles, accumulated rebuttals and why they're here to stay
Banicks replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sniper Rifles are purely banditry weapons. Infact, all non-silence weapons are IMO bandit/anti-human weapons. There is too much risk to pop a zombie with a high powered-high noise making rifle unless the sniper is in a team and prepared to decoy. I'm happy to retain the sniper rifles in DayZ - but I would like some more weapons with medium range scopes (acogs and so on). The greatest issue I have is that flares need to destroy the NVG advantage that bandits have. This game is supposedly basing itself off realism, yet a flare IRL will destroy the advatange of NVGs. Effectively allowing a player under fire to pop a flare and effect an escape whilst the sniper/s have to readjust their vision - much like a flashbang. -
*sniff sniff* Smells like a trap.

If I see a player so much as point a hatchet in my direction without announcing themselves first, I will drop them. I will usually always go with instinct. If my gut tells me something isn't right, I drop them. It's kept me alive longer than when I first started playing.

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
Banicks replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yea the game is starting to die for me. After a months playing there is nothing holding my interest. -
You're the kind of player who will use cheats in a game because you can't adapt to what is needed.

The DS nvg rumour is just that IMO - alot of big talk/no proof in forums about it. Loot table inidicates no drop from DS, but perhaps things have changed since then. Until the loot table is updated, or a credible video/ss is linked to proof of nvgs at a DS, keep hunting those barracks. But youll have a better chance hunting bandits.

Where do Ghillie suits spawn?
Banicks replied to NeedleHammer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
2 story apartments have the highest chance to yield I believe. They have the most spawn points for loot. Just be aware that if you find one, or a camo outfit, and equip it. You will spawn out on the ocean and be in for a 10 minute swim to shore having lost your primary, secondary and backpack. -
Who you are in real life, impacts on how you play DayZ.
Banicks replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sorry mate, but wrong. The internet allows people to remain anonymous and as a result of that, they feel they can do and act however they want. Same thing in game. You'll get alot of kids playing and compensating people who will KoS because of it, or just for the 'lulz'. After a month of playing, in which I did not KoS, attempted to give people a chance. I just KoS now because it saves time on gear collecting, and ultimately when you get almost everything you get bored and there is nothing left to do. -
The one and only Anti-PVP/PvP Discussion thread! Whine/discuss here!
Banicks replied to Legacy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Implement reasons to not shoot and instead group. To do this, the PvE scripting element needs to be expanded. Rocket indicated the ability to create your own forts using wood, houses, strongholds etc in a minecraft-esque move when it eventually moves forward. Making the only way to create these is in large groups would be a first step. Increased zombie activity, 1.7.1.3/4 showed us that a minor tweak to sound/visibility makes the towns nigh impossible without outright killing them first. This made the game unplayable for solo people though. So perhaps considering increase probably and quality of loot drops based on number of people clearing a town. Finally, mass scripted events. ie: zombie horde of 200+ comming down from the north to hold the airfield for whatever reason. Group of scripted survivors/military personel holding up in a town/stronghold/airfield which is drawing those zeds to them. The player could help them, destroy them. Basically thought through scripted events to force people to group. Because at the moment it's just KoS - you've got nothing to lose. It takes a survivor 1-2 days to get well kitted, and a bandit a second to shoot and loot. There is no incentive to ensure that your 'morality' is retained. I realise that perhaps this is what Rocket wants. But tbh after a month of it, I'd love to group up with people but its always KoS. It just gets boring. I could easily go north, and have done so for a week, with a crossbow and all the supplies i need to refill at dams and hunt wildlife. But that gets boring. Getting kitted to be KoS gets boring too after a month. So I started to KoS other players and it was so easy to get geared, that out of complete boredom I go to the airfields to hunt other bandits. The groundwork for a really great game is here, but it needs work. It needs elements to keep a player entertained outside of adding inconvenient zombies to a FFA arma 2 map. PvP elements are already there, time to development some PvE incentives, because a leadership board just wont cut it. -
Zombie. This happens on easy difficult servers.
