Sorry, I want to focus on something. Within 15 minutes you have NVGs. Please explain to me how? Because either the time frame or the items you are collecting is an exaggeration. In which case you basically invalidate your entire arguement. Unless of course you have tents setup and duped all your items to ensure you remain 'end-game'? This is an alpha and extremely limited as to what Rocket and team can include. Stand alone will begin to include PvE elements I'm certain of it. Additionally, with WarZ beta within a month and retail in the next 4-5, the ideas and end game elements within that should ensure Rocket and team have something to work towards to meet and/or exceed in their DayZ stand alone retail. Seriously, I don't understand why people think a mod should be the 'be all and end all' of what they want or expect. Arma 2 wasn't created for DayZ, DayZ was modded onto Arma 2 to get a feel for ideas and base coding, not create a selling mod. This feeling of self-entitlement and know-it-all-ism on how to create a game is overwhelming lately.

Website has been slow for the last couple dayz
Banicks replied to Brudagon (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yea being a bit slow in peak times. Remember peak times vary on country. Not fussed, just patience required. Kinda reminds me of 56k times. -
QFT. Fishing boat goes slower than running out of petrol and being taken with the tide. Don't ask how I know.
-
Nope. Loot table indicates military and hospital only. I did find a stick of morphine in one last night, but I'm fairly sure another player dumped it there to make room for something else.

Regardless of how realistic DayZ will be, DayZDB or other third-party things will always exist as a way to make the game 'easier' for those who can't play it immersively. Those people know who they are - they have an alt monitor with the map up, they gamma/brightness increase and so on.

Majority of vehicles are hoarded by crews. It's one of the few end-game things to do. Try different servers and so on. As Fusty said dayzdb has a good map for practically all vehicles with an engine or without. At the end of the day though they should be hard to find. Even harder to fix.

Storage and Loot Inflation: Not a Problem, a Sleeping Crisis in Game Design
Banicks replied to bazbake's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think I understand what you are trying to say: items aren't rare and hoarding isn't fair. Yes and no. There is nothing wrong with hoarding, it is preparation for your eventual demise or gearing up a new player for your crew with minimum risk. It is abused by duping to the point that bandits never have to touch a populated town or go anywhere near their chosen sniping location. Let's be honest, once you have all your gear, a tent, secured gear in the tent and a sniper rifle, DayZ has no end game other than killing other players. The 'hero' may alter these things. I'm all for tent cities if they are actually properly found and not duped. WarZ will be a great experience for me because a bunch of Australians are already clanned and waiting. Our primary concern will be self improvement and also ensuring a moderately well stocked armoury. Same concept for DayZ, tents are necessary so that you don't need to carry everything. I agree wholeheartedly that items need to be rarer. But until duping is resolved, it won't happen. I'm not sure if the duping can be stopped because of the Arma 2 base coding. But without a doubt all these issues will be stopped come stand alone. -
It's not brains. It's some sort of enzyme that breaks down your brain's ability to communicate with itself - leading to shaking and other neurological disorders. That was the study of the Karu. I'd look for a link, cbf though, I read it on wikipedia ages ago I'm fairly certain. If you mean the TV series no. If you mean the comics I have no idea, don't read them, I imagine a heavily edited version would be released or it may be allowed legally because it isn't depicting actual people but rather cartoons/anime. Our laws are a little silly regarding violence and such.

If cannibalism enters the game it will be banned in NZ and Australia. NZ being Rocket's country of origin, and Australia being a large portion of the oceanic market. It won't see retail. Not to mention the realism effects that would need to be added: shaking, diseases, laughing, and so on. All documented side effects of long-term cannibalism.

Probably a rangefinder on average, or whatever they need in particular. M107's aren't exactly rare once you get the crashed heli spawn rotation down. Found 6 in one night.

Love Dayz But Time to Wait For The Stand Alone
Banicks replied to Yarrick68 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DUST 514 is console only, currently with rumours they may go PC. It's main focus is PS3, for whatever reason who knows, when it's supposed to be linked with EVE which is PC only. -
BattlEye will announce new features to combat hacking
Banicks replied to Play (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Good for them. -
Everest is actually one of the easiest mountains to climb as far as technical difficulty goes. K2 is harder. The hardest part of Everest is the Hillary Step due to the height and physical tax it has on your body. Given sufficient altitude training, safety measures, oxygen and time - almost anyone can summit Everest. Much respect to Rocket, and I hope DayZ is a success.

how do you end game? what is end game for you?
Banicks replied to =ANz= Zentile's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's not that hard to survive end game. Just go up north north, hunt animals, eat the cooked meat, fill up canteens at isolated ponds and so on. No zeds in sight and because it's away from towns or anything of importance it's just rare to bump into any players. I got bored after a week of that. Helping newbies leads to being shot in the back, and I'm not great at hunting bandits (can't snipe). So I just go to isolated towns now and take out zeds. -
Now that 1911 is neutered, is there anyone 1 shot handguns?

Does the Revolver no longer one shot? -
Should the Mod be abandoned
Banicks replied to Strategos (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
WarZ retail coming Q3 I'm fairly certain that DayZ will lose players, not to mention Rocket and team are concentrating on retail. Of course new ideas and rough coding will still be put into the alpha to break and trial different things and see how the community reacts and plays around the changes. But inevitably the Arma 2 DayZ mod will eventually be abandoned once retail alpha/beta is available. In the meantime I expect less patches less frequently. If WarZ flops I have no doubt that they will return to the DayZ alpha. But from what I've tracked so far I don't think it will be too bad. -
Trying to increase your channel views huh. Lame.

We all know it. But it is out of hand now.
Banicks replied to Digitalzebra's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You're implying that you were run over by a hacker, just saying what if it was a random coincidence. Oh well, karma is a bitch, considering you were camping elektro for noobs I take it. -
What would run faster: The mod, or the standalone?
Banicks replied to Skorbian's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Is that thanks to the hardware capabilities of today, in comparison to Arma 2 days though? ie: increased memory channels, processor lanes and so on. I'd say if your friend is having issues running Arma 2 on lowest settings perhaps it's time for an upgrade. I expect the stand alone to increase graphically so if anything it would be worthwhile upgrading just to be able to play the current/future games comfortably for the next year or 2. -
TBH it's not a DayZ issue. It is a BattlEye issue, go there and complain because there is nothing the DayZ devs can do.

Totally lost any faith I had in Rocket/dev team
Banicks replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You seem to be the biggest voice of complaint on these forums for what you admitted is an alpha. You don't want me to focus on that, so I won't. Here is my suggestion, go take a break and come back when the game is retail, or don't come back at all. Rocket and his team owe nothing to you. They could walk away from this alpha right now and leave it as it currently is to focus solely on creating the retail version, I imagine your cries would be even worse then. 2 weeks late, by who's deadline, yours? Your not the boss of the dev team, just a self entitled gamer acting like a child. Here's an idea though, instead of posting negative threads such as this, you post the bug reports in the bug reports section and create threads that are actually useful for the community and devs. This will improve the alpha when problems occur. Or you could just go and create your own zombie survival game since you think that deadlines and everything should go so smoothly. -
It's a fresh thing to alpha so I imagine there will be further additions and tweaks to it next major patch. Along with explanations on how the system will work. It will era in a 'hero' status, as opposed to the 'bandit' one. Confirmed by Rocket in a live stream Machinma interview the other day. Just wait, you'll see.

Is the L85A2 considered a sniper or assault rifle?
Banicks replied to A-E-I-OWN-U's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In reality, it can be modded to a LMG (L86 Light Support Weapon) of sorts by changing the barrell and ammunition type. In this game however, it is an assault rifle. -
Threads like this pose problems. #1: People will claim to know things #2: People who actually know things, want to get paid. #3: Rocket keeps us updated of what he is actively looking for in regards to professional help. Last I checked he was just after some sort of texture/skin developer. If the lead developer doesn't want help on his project, I doubt creating a thread and forcing help towards him would change his mind. And Rocket isn't just one man, he has a whole team behind him and with the advancement towards stand alone retail I imagine he will be getting a few more people to help from BI if necessary.
