Dont play DAY Z today! Massive CD stealing while IN GAME
Banicks replied to thelonewarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you re-read my post I've included the previous experience where they incorrectly globally banned people. I'm entitled to not trust it, but do not assume that I'm complaining about it. My post was meant to be completely neutral with the distrust seeding from the big mistake they made previously and the lack of progress in banning hackers that affect me personally every night. My solution? Stand alone, but you're already on it. -
1. M9 SD 2. G17 3. M9 4. M1911 5. Makarov 6. Revolver 7. PDW PDW is my least favourite simply because I'm never near ammo. Then again, the same can be said about M9SD, but it is more common randomly than PDW in residential and such. The Revolver is next my least favourite because it is a slow firing gun, Mak and 1911 on par and then so on. I've never actually come across a standard M9 though.

Dont play DAY Z today! Massive CD stealing while IN GAME
Banicks replied to thelonewarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Their last massive ban wave was alot of innocent people. I don't trust it. You seem to have forgotten that a month ago or so BE banned alot of innocent players who early adopted the latest Arma 2 Beta. BE recinded all globals and apologized. So always consider not all claims to be 'bullshit'. If I run into a hacker tomorrow night, which thus far I do every night, I will consider BE to be quite useless as always. -
The concern is that developing a game with console in mind will mean limited possibilities for an immersive experience. Developers generally take the easy road when creating a game for consoles, limited hardware capability in RAM and graphics card alone means that the amount of in-game capabilities can be reduced and the textures limited. Once completed the console game is "ported" to PC for extra profit. A good exception to this rule is Skyrim, with high resolution textures specifically for PC and obviously the PC can run the textures and environment in a higher quality setting than console could. But concern from the PC community is warranted, as previous and current experience in the games available on the market for PC in the past year alone have been very limited console ports. Poorly designed and executed leaving the PC community shunted. A prime example of this is Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Developed by Ubisoft. This was designed and coded primarily for console, released roughly in March. Up until April it wasn't going to be on PC, but then there was an announcement that stated it would be included for PC release, but delayed by a month of console release. Fast forward to the release date of July and it was released, broken. I mean, purely, broken. Singleplayer did not function, it would crash known as 'Yeti' errors. Multiplayer did not function either, you would get a few problems randomly. Either you would be stuck waiting to connect to a game through host migration, join a game of multinational players sitting in the lobby until it crashed, join a game and be disconnected immediately or delayed, join a game and encounter a Yeti error, join an unplayable game because the host migration would take anyone, from anywhere and put them into a game thinking it is acceptable to play a FPS/3PS with pings of 900+, or played a game of continual host migrations then eventually disconnect because the migration was cycling through everyone expecting to resolve the latency issues. This was all resolvable and could have been forgiven if it was resolved. Unfortunately it wasn't for an entire month and a half. The first patch which everyone was expecting to be a hotfix for the network and yeti issues was actually a patch to ensure that an xbox controller was not sought after instead of using a keyboard - Ubisoft had released such a bad PC port from the Xbox version that they hadn't even bothered to test the port or ensure input was PC objects only. A month and a half later and it was too late, refunds were sought where possible, but for myself Steam do not refund, essentially stealing my money. The 1.4 patch which was supposed to resolve all issues did not, the migration still connects to high latency games. Whether this is because my local players have abandoned GRFS so it is necessary to connect me to high pings or whether it is because Ubisoft's inept developers could not resolve the issue is regardless. DLC has been announced for GRFS now with no word on the next patch to resolve base retail game. Naturally, this DLC has been rejected and an outrage is occuring on the forums that Ubisoft is practically Ubi$oft and not surprisingly, community managers do not communicate with the PC community since DLC was announced. Alot of foot in mouth syndrome. This is now the standard of PC gaming we have come to expect from retail out of the box, and what companies consider customer service to PC gamers post release. PC gaming is 'dead' to developers, the easy and quick cash route is to program for simple, generic hardware consoles. PC poses too much post-release and pre-thought testing and programming for it to reach the profit margins desired. We are simply now a 'port' market, even Activision's Modern Warfare/Call of Duty series has kept the same graphics since MW2 to ensure each title thereafter was console friendly. That said, I personally believe that it is not Dean Hall's intention to shaft or mistreat the community. He respects that DayZ mod made it's name from the PC community and Arma 2 mod - which is only available on PC. I firmly believe that DayZ will blow WarZ out of the water when it goes retail, and I have no doubt that Hall will continue to respect and ensure that the PC version functions well and as intended. What happens next title however will yet to be seen. Many developers who made their name on PC and the game name popular have now abandoned the PC community.

Never used to be like this, but I'm just a little tiresome of late with DayZ that I enjoy shooting other survivors for the 'lulz'. Therefore, if I see someone, I shoot them.

If you feel that your global ban was unwarranted you will need to contact BattlEye directly. Posting a thread here will not resolve your issue in any way.

My 3day experience at Lingor Island
Banicks replied to flygamer1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You were expecting players to, not shoot on sight because of Lingor Island? Bit of a mistake. Lingor Island mod has the highest probability of housing the majority of shunted bandits - they moved towards Lingor to reduce the chance of losing their gear from hackers. But in all, it's DayZ mod - trust no one. -
Why not have bottles of coke, pepsi, where's pepsi max? Or cans of Monster, V, Red Bull, so on and so forth. This is more of a suggestion that should go in the suggestion thread. I believe that when stand alone occurs that branded drink will be removed unless they wan't to sponsor themselves in game. More drinks may be incorporate as well, at this point in time though. It makes zero difference, a drink is a drink, providing it fills your thirst, pretend it is whatever you want.

How come hacks cant be stopped, when they even post like this?
Banicks replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Unfortunately the majority of games with age limits these days are obtainable by anyone of any age. The Modern Warfare community began heading downhill around MW2 because either the game stores sold the game to kids without following the age restriction, or parents purchased it for their children. I know some reputable game shops (EB Games, GAME [now liquidated], GameStop and so on) do actually request ID when purchasing a game that requires 18+ age, but following a 16+ agre restriction poses the problem that for people who are 16, there is no available ID with proof of age. Therefore, children have practically complete access to the majority of games these days, especially in Australia. Add to the fact that most parents don't follow or understand internet and interaction, or how to properly manage their children, and you have an era of children with access to and actively playing video games that when I was that age, only practically played Crash Bandicoot or physical lego. Most likely, we can assume, that since DayZ announced retail people who don't care about their Arma 2 key, nor care for playing the DayZ mod anymore, that they have begun the widespread hacking/scripting. With BattlEye powerless to even so much as detect the scripts - as DayZ itself is a script, BattleEye can't recognise the difference between a legitimate script or a DayZ script. The hacking programs also have the capability to intercept and smurf the communication of BattlEye from the research I've done into the available programs that are so simplified, children can use them. Which brings me to my next point, children playing this game see the hackers having an advantage, and they themselves want it. Adding to the number of people scripting or hacking. It is quite frustrating. I managed to avoid hackers for the past month, only to lose my month old character and just that same day completed gear with NVGs to a drop from the sky along with the rest of the server population. DayZ developers and team cannot take any proactive measures because, well they're probably busy with the stand alone. DayZ mod is being left to die hard fans who realise that it is a mod being utilised to monitor how players interact with updates and so on. Allowing developers to proceed forward with ideas and incoorporating them into stand alone should the community accept the changes. The legitimate code monitoring is so massive that the developer team, admitted freely by Dean Hall, can't even keep up with the amount of information that is being tramitted to hive server for interpretation. Let alone monitoring legitmate or illlegitamate players. I don't blame DayZ developers or team at all, stand alone will resolve it the issues. In the meantime just remember rule #1 of DayZ mod; dont get attached to your gear. -
First, paragraphs, learn to love them please! Next, do what you want, keep the hack guns even. I'd say 90% of players running around have hacked gear in their inventory. It's not like you guys will live any longer for it. You'll either be killed by a hacker or another player who spots you. Radios are apparently legit. But the only thing they do is spam communication frequencies prior to the 'event' and then morse code deer stands. It really holds no value other than taking up a slot. As far as I know they hold no 'hack' function or meta game ability.

Until it's confirmed resolved in patch notes assume it isn't. I'm happy to take pack off/back on when suiting up. Beats spawning on the beach next login prior to the suit fix.
-
If you only purchase one CD key your friends will not be able to play off the same install. You will each need your own copy/cd key. Standard amoungst all games these days.

100% of the time. If I see another player my BPM goes up. If I get shot at, I'm shaking like a leaf.

Can't get myself to buy it for one reason
Banicks replied to Danjel's topic in New Player Discussion
This is a mod based off of the Arma 2 engine. It is something they are 'fixing' in stand alone. No point in them reprogramming/redeveloping Arma 2 base code for the mod, when the time can be spent refining those finicky things for retail. I suggest you watch a fair few PAX interviews with Dean Hall, he has basically answered alot of questions for what stand alone will resolve. You're doing the right thing if you can't put up with things that small. You would get used to it after a while, infact it does teach you to remain calm and conserve ammo. Dare I say you become accurate and quick when you have the chance to take down. -

Banicks replied to bridges1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not saying it respawns, I'm saying there is a delay on spawning loot. I've approached a heli and gone around it 3 times, open flat field, no loot. After a 4th semi circle loot appeared on both sides. Either there was a glitch, which is highly possible seeing as when I approach towns on motorbikes it takes the town a few minutes to spawn loot. Or it does infact respawn loot. -
This game never stopped being fun. Frustration entered it because of the scripting/hacking. But you put up with it.

What's your CD key? (Answering that is practically the only way you will have it stolen)

Why is everybody so satisfied with ARMA2 Engine?
Banicks replied to EndEffeKt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hall has already answered this regarding his stand alone intentions. Arma 2 will be used, or rather a so call 'Arma 2.5' will be used because: - The engine has been around and stable for quite a few years - The experience Hall and his team have with the engine will mean they can develop it into something more befitting the desired DayZ stand alone experience - The engine will be refined, presumably graphically so that the majority of systems can run it That alone is enough to convince me that DayZ, from a technical stand point alone will not encounter too many issues. Where as if it was a completely new Arma 3 engine, early adoption may prove more troublesome than beneficial. Put it this way, it is better to have a game released fully functioning without issues, than to release a game that has better graphics but keeps crashing or having issues. -

I've found that approaching some crashed helis that the loot won't spawn immediately. Additionally, it can be a big pain to locate the loot piles around the heli. With the added issue of patrolling zeds nearby the site, it can be enough to almost make it impossible to locate loot safely. -
Resolve scipting/hacking issue first, then yes. Scripting/hacking issue can't be resolved? No point. Wait for stand-alone. Naturally this won't be popular with 'geared' or 'prepared' players, but they need to remind themselves. This is DayZ mod, and rule #1 besides trust noone is never get attached to your gear.

They're cowards. Pure and simple.
-
True. But the idea is sound none the less for inclusion in stand alone, and stand alone will remove alt-f4 altogether.

The petition to keep DayZ HARDCORE (standalone)
Banicks replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I personally think that this decision will be out of Rocket & Teams hands. It was probably something deep in negotiation when they were shopping around for developer companies. I expect that the decision will be made at the highest level to open two levels of play as WarZ is doing - Softcore and Hardcore. Thus opening their market to casual players and those who consider themselves 'hardcore'. Not doing so is simply shooting themselves in the foot financially. And lets be honest, gaming is big bucks, Bohemia Interactive will not turn down extra profit. If Rocket has managed to secure complete control of his baby, then excellent. Because I personally do share the belief that this game should remain realistic, but not at the expense of preventing a profit level that could be put towards further content and naturally expansions/sequels. Providing those would remain at a level of excellence that I expect DayZ will be able to attain.
