My Australian buddy had this problem in Breaking Point for Arma 3. It was his shitty laptop he was playing on. Now that he has a brand new, gaming desktop, he has no problems with this, in Arma or Dayz

Well, most servers that I have played on say "Server restarts every four hours" or something like that. I know that is not as good as a warning or countdown, but for now you can figure out individual servers restart schedule by finding on what hour they restart.

This is an individual servers call. BI COULD change their current contract for server renters, but that sounds like a lot of legal work to me... Anyway, you are going to have to find a server that has this function.

Get to sound options in Windows and make sure that the correct device is set to default communications device. Arma and Dayz rely on what windows designates as the default device whereas TS and the like designate it themselves

I have heard that they are planning, for the final product, to have NO server restarts (unless updating or maintenance, etc.), so respawning loot is a must... unless you want every server to be picked clean in a matter of a day

VRAM is far from a determining factor in how well a GPU runs. But, 512 would be bare minimum for DayZ. It's the fact that his graphics card is integrated that makes it shitty for DayZ

He really should get a dedicated GPU BEFORE he gets more memory... and, high end ATI cards do have decent resell value, right now... Their prices are a bit unreasonable for the performance you get, I think, though. Damned litecoin...

Get a goddamn dedicated GPU... easy fix. Don't even worry about your memory until you get a dedicated graphics card...
