    Current Mosin "Inaccuracy" unrealistic.

    Not to mention every Mosin you find in DayZ has a turn down bolt which specifies it as "sniper" grade. They should be really accurate. Also I think they should have more commonly found regular Mosins that don't have the down turn bolt which wouldn't let you use the scope. Right now there are basically (broken) sniper rifles laying all over the place. I'm sure in the next few patches they'll play with the accuracy numbers, I'm sure it's not intended to be this extreme.
  2. See that's where "KoS" isn't being defined well. When I hear most people complain about "KoS" they're saying "I walked into the fire station and I said I was friendly but he shot me!" if they had their gun out and didn't instantly turn around and put it away they should expect to be killed. And even if they did go to that extent to be passive, they'll probably get popped for their can opener by most people. And the people who complain about being killed "trying to get off the shore". I have probably 250+ hours in the mod, and I think 20 in the SA, I've never been killed on the shore unless it was a hacker. People expect to run down the street and run on top of hills and skyline themselves and expect to not get sniped, that's just silly. Fortunately there WILL be consequences to just opening up on every person you see through a window just for fun when more zombies are added. But like I said, personally I don't just get randomly shot at very much unless I'm in a VERY obvious place. People want realism, why not treat how you move through villages and forests realistically? If you really think running down the road standing up in a zombie apocalypse would be right course of action, then you'll probably die! That's how simple the rules are in this game.
  3. To all the people who complain that KoS is unrealistic... So if you had a rifle on you, walked into a building with a stranger while there is a zombie apocalypse going on, and there happens to be a distressed person you don't know with a loaded weapon in front of you, you really expect to say "Hey wanna team up?! :)" I'm sorry, but you would not live to tell your tale. If two armed people encountered each other face to face in a real "apocalypse", they would both be thinking how to eliminate the immediate threat to their wellbeing, and that would be to put the sights on the other guy with the gun and squeeze the trigger.

    Haha when you think about it really does make a lot more sense than a compass floating on your screen, I like that you have to hold it. I just hate having to go into first person because no matter what, first person makes me want to hurl.

    Agree, gunshots need to be way louder. Also, I think there should be a deafening effect if you're close enough. I've shot an M38 Mosin (shorter barrel version of the Mosin 91/30 in the game) without hearing protection. Once. Really bad idea, but I was literally deaf in my right ear for a good few minutes, all I heard was ringing. If you open up with a Mosin in a building, you shouldn't be able to hear footsteps downstairs very clearly for a few minutes.

    The only thing that made traveling slightly more difficult is that we don't just shift click where we want to go and follow an arrow now, and I really like that.

    I'm with ya 100%. Too many games are so dumbed down these days so any of us looking for a challenge all flock to the same few ones that are unique. Unfortunately these games are few and far apart (and typically not well funded). But seeing how Rocket sticks to his vision of making an authentic survival game really pleases me. I've always thought health was the single most unrealistic thing about most games. In most games, you can take a ton of damage, be a pat on the back away from death and still sprint and jump over obstacles like it's nothing. If anything, I can see the health system going even more in depth than it is now in the future which is great. I have faith that the care bears and whiners will not effect the devs decisions in how this game ends up, and that's really uncommon in todays video game market!

    AKS-74u , the krinkov is my favorite ever! SVD Some super rare HK pistols (because it's a video game and video game developers love HK)

    Mosin Nagant: Which kind of 7.62?

    Instead of selecting "chamber", just drag the rounds onto the rifle and I think you select something like "load in". That should put 5 rounds in the magazine in the gun. I hope that helps.

    Player Corpses Disappearing and Kill Msgs

    I really hope they don't add death messages. Obviously it's not only unrealistic but it adds more to gameplay if you don't know exactly when they die. Say you get shot up in a tower or something and don't die. You bandage up quickly and play dead. They come to loot your body and they're not expecting to get shot. Way more fun.

    Night Vision

    Anyone find a pair of NVGs yet? Or know if they're in the alpha yet at all? :) Also, you know what would be really cool? Different types of night vision scopes. There are 3 generations of night vision on the market today, Gen 3 NV is what you see in the game, where it is very very bright. These cost upwards of $3k USD. They should make lower tier night vision that can't see as much, and make gen 3 night vision really rare. Just an idea, what do you guys think?
  13. You know what's funny? These threads full of people expressing their strong opinion on KOS / not KOS... That's the player interaction! It's not going to change! This is what makes the game fun! There are "good" guys, "bad" guys, and zombies. And to all the whiners crying about being "KOS"... you're all about survival then right? LEARN TO AVOID PEOPLE. If you don't like getting killed, and you don't like killing other players, before you charge into the firehouse, maybe scope it out for a bit? Lay down and wait to see if someone runs up the tower, if in 3 mins they don't, there's probably no one in there. I understand how some people would be upset that it's probably not completely realistic that there a ton of psychos trying to kill everyone in an apocalypse. No, most people would just try to save their own skin and avoid the situation because they have their real life on the line. But I swear it sounds like some of these people need to just go buy a single player zombie game!

    Silencers and item condition

    What Lorax said, the suppressor on the should suppress the "boom" sound coming from the muzzle but you'll still have the sonic crack which comes out in a cone shape from the BULLET itself (I know this was at least accurate in ArmA 2 and 3). So you'll be hard to locate while using the suppressor and you will have a great advantage, it just won't be silent with regular ammo. It would also be pretty cool if they added a feature where you could wet the suppressor using a bottle of water on it. When suppressors are wet it dampens the sound much more.

    That's probably just a glitch, because with the the iron sights you can't zoom in / out like in ArmA anymore. The fact that you could actually fit that scope on the Mosin is unrealistic as you would never find a scope mount that was compatible! But it is a game :P And no, the magazine for the Mosin is an internal magazine, so you just load the rounds into the gun. In real life you would use stripper clips instead of loading them one by one but you basically have that speed in the game anyway. edit: my bad, that's actually really cool! it's the real Mosin PU scope! still rare :P
