I have discovered a new way to up the FPS
WilliamTheConqueror replied to WilliamTheConqueror's topic in General Discussion
And has it worked? -
Exactly. From old crap monitors to new ones, I have never needed to change the gamma from its original setting. Besides, I don't think many people will bother with changing the monitor settings. maybe a few bad apples, but most people who change the gamma do it because they feel others do. Also, you didn't see this in the mod. Why SA?

I am not saying that it should be lowered to the point where people who need it can't play the game. what I am saying is that we should not be able to raise it as high. I'd say limit it to about 3/4 from the current maximum. It still makes night brighter a bit, but not so much as now.

When will the Zombie count be up?
WilliamTheConqueror replied to Persason's topic in General Discussion
My two cents. Zombies should spawn at a certain amount at server restart. People kill them, and the pop goes down. But the second the zombie count reaches a certain point, they resawn back over time. -
I have got to be the unluckiest player in DayZ
WilliamTheConqueror posted a topic in General Discussion
I need to rant. Every death I have had over many characters for months has been to being killed on sight, minus one from stair glitch. Maybe one or two was my fault, but every single other time is really frustrating. My characters last maybe 3 hours at the most. Some only 30 min. Here are my last few deaths. Fresh spawn in Electro, as I run down a road inland to avoid the city, I get sniped in the back. Spawn in a small town south of Berizino, get axed in the back of the head while picking up a can of food, not 10 minutes after spawn. Spawn in Cherno, get killed by a group toting M4's. Spawn in Berizino, grap some quick loot, and get shot in the back as I run away. Most of the people who kill me I never see, and those I do I get a quick glance before they put the bullet in my face, or a minute of running away from them when they have an axe. It's been like this for months. I have not had any friendly encounter for months. I don't think it's becuase I am unobservant. These experiences have made me look over my shoulder every minute with every life. I scan even the smallest of towns from a distance to make sure no one is there. There is nothing that can be done to solve this issue, and I know this is how DayZ is now. But when I get KOS'ed within half an hour of spawn 20 times in a row, it starts to seem uncanny. Is being this unlucky supposed to be this common? Not one person I have met in game has actully talked to me before trying to kill me. The ones that do are screaming obsenities at the top of their lungs. Rant over. -
I want to see that jungle map shown for Arma 3 in DayZ. That would be amazing.

This may not happen for a long time, but engine temperature should be taken into account. Engines need to warm up in really cold environments, or they overheat it hot ones. Coolant will be needed for engines to work, whether water will work, or special coolant for different cars. I want engines to be as in depth as possible, with fan belts, filters, brake fluid, everything.

I have got to be the unluckiest player in DayZ
WilliamTheConqueror replied to WilliamTheConqueror's topic in General Discussion
On your binocular tip, it works great, as long as no one sees you. I was once looking over a town in the distance, hiding out in a bush, and got shot from the town and died. Guess that answered the question of whether someone is there. -
I understand that. Things need to be simplified for gameplay. I just want it to be more in depth than the mod. But for components, only the necessities. Carberator, alternator, battery, coolant, fan belt, spark plugs, oil, maybe even the entire engine block needs to be replaced. Also, I think certain parts should be able to be slightly repaired, instead of complete replacement.

Very good points. On the point of making it fun for them, one of the deaths I felt really ok about was one where I am trapped in a building with a guy outside. I call out to him, and we actually make some small talk. How's your day, blah blah blah. He made it clear that he was going to kill me, and ended up getting me as I tried to sneak out the back door. Still was a very fun experience -

Not self promotion, but in one of my YouTube videos, I see a guy in the distance, run around to him, and try to hold him up. I completely had no idea what I was doing, and just ran away as he laid down on the ground. I really don't like playing that style yet. It's in my nature to try and say hello. It's just my luck that guy had no idea what was going on either. -

I will, and it has already paid off. Just yesterday, I had my first non fatal encounter. Well, the guy did have me at gun point, and made me take off my pants to check for human flesh. But we got cornered by bandits and held out in the corner pup for ages, trying to get a bead on the guys outside. He gave me a gun and we tried to push out. Unfortunately, we got about halfway down the street before getting gunned down. But it's still an improvement. -

I agree and have done this all the time. I never stay on the coast. What's more frustrating that getting shot with no warning on the coast is getting shot with no warning in some obscure village in the middle of the map. -

I play in mid pop servers all the time. Although the lowest I'll go is 10 players. After I have gotten some decent gear, I eventually try higher pop servers, and thats where I go wrong I guess. Unfortunatly, the game is no fun with out any interaction. I keep remembering the early days of the Standalone and even the mod where people were more trusting and the word bandit meant someone who HELD YOU UP AND ROBBED YOU. -
Everyone plays the game the way they want, so...

I haven't heard about the PSO-1 getting removed. LRS is being completely removed, won't find it anywhere., so no unicorns (what we called mosins with bipods after update)

Persistence wipe for 0.56
WilliamTheConqueror replied to SpoonsandForks's topic in General Discussion
I have a point to give about our characters. Isn't it the entire point of the game to get attached to your characters? Think about it, a major part of the thrill of meeting other players or running from zombies is the fact that you have worked hard on your character, helping him survive and explore, and you don't want him to die. If we cared little for the characters we work hard on, the thrill is gone. I understand don't get attached to the point that you put your fist through a wall when there's a wipe, but some frustration is totally justified. even if there is a chance for a wipe or death by bug, you worked hard on that character. Read some of the posts by developers about the game, they talk about the thrill of DayZ being the want of preserving your character. I'm not saying that the wipes are "stupid crapola, the devs are EVIL!", but people have the right to be a little miffed. -
They are not wiping persistance for a while. They announced that any wipe would be rare and announced far in advance. Your tents are safe.
-
Vehicles are not as developed, and not as big a gameplay element as it was in the mod. Don't listen to all the whiners about persistance. Food and supplies aren't as hard to fins as they say. Zombies are really good now, and hunting/cooking is better than mod at the moment in my opinion.

Real Life Skills You've Learned from DayZ

Is there a way to turn off vignette?
WilliamTheConqueror replied to poodude28 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
So its a visual affect in the menu. What is your point in removing it? -
Very interesting, kinda like improv games. Normally, if I want to roleplay something, i just sit for ten seconds to think of a random situation. Truethfully, this progran is just a way to come up with a random idea with out thinking of it ourselves. I can see the appeal, it seems kinda pointless.

everything i know about survival i learned from Dayz

Thats not roleplaying, thats just rude. -
In his defence, if he can't find cans of food, how will he find guns or the tools to make a bow? Apple trees are a pain. With lag and desync, searching for apples once can take a full ninute, most of the time turning up nothing. People don't have the time to pick apples for a whole hour. Watter bottles seem to be harder to find than food, same with knives. Plus, I played for a few hours before I found a badley damaged shovel. And finally, fishing rods are very difficult to build. First you need a fishhook, which are rather rare. "But you can make one from bones!" Yeah, fist you need a weapon, ammo, and knife. He might not get lucky. Then theres rope to find, then an axe to chop down the tree, plus trying to actually find an ash tree. People know this, its just not fesible with out some other starting supplise. But I don't think its as bad an issue as people think. I might just be really lucky, but I got semi geared (no gun though) in 10 min after spawning. And thats in the spawn town.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
WilliamTheConqueror replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Think of it this way. The zombies have no sense of pain or fatigue. They also have what I believe is called beserker syndrom or something. The brain regulates muscle use to keep the body from destroying its arms lifting an apple. But if the brain is as messed up as they are in the infected, they would be using 100% of there muscle all the time, everytime. That could explain the faster speeds, toughness, and strength. Probably not the intended way it is, but just imagine, roleplay, if you will, until they are ironed out.
