    State of loot spawn?

I have never had a problem with finding loot. In any version. I mean, I just made a video of me finding food and a loaded mosin 30 seconds into spawn. Look in new places, not the main cities. If you did go inland like you said, there shouldn't have been a problem. One pass through a small mid map village can leave you set for a while.

Dayz: the Road to Beta - PAX Aus Presentation

There would need to be limits. I think what it means is there will be regulations on spawning. So the zombies are currently spawning evenly across the map, despite no players in certain areas. What this new idea is saying is that the server will prioritize spawning in areas that players are in. So on a server restart, the zeds are evenly spread out. With one guy, he kills a bunch, and the server will only spawn new ones in areas around him. Say he clears a town, but quickly leaves. No zeds will spawn in that town if no one is there. If that area is activated by a player, then they will spawn. This will not lead to 500 zeds in one town just because that is where the player is.

    Need some help with performance

I am jealous of your frames. I would kill for 20 in cities. Try 5 in cities, and MAYBE 20-30 in the country. This is with a 750ti and a AMD Anthelon II 645 4x on a solid state. WITH all the edits and file changes.

So You Say There isn't Any Loot

I later went on to find a buttload of food. I am set within 5 minutes. Feel free to check out my channel if you want. Any views are very much appreciated.

So You Say There isn't Any Loot

I always dump the ammo in a bush near the gun, just so someone who comes along soon after isn't able to kill right away.

So You Say There isn't Any Loot

But would you throw it away with enough ammo to load it three times?
  11. For me the biggest thing is the HUD. I want the text prompts gone. I want the quick bar only visible from the inventory screen. I do not want anything on the screen. The current crosshair is horrible in the way it shows where the gun is aiming, the old was was tolerable, but I still wanted it gone. The proposed new hud showing your hunger thirst and temperature would be game breaking for me.

"Fall back to another server" issue

Because in the mod, it got to the point of "100000 cars and heli's!!! Mega lootz easy zombies!" A public hive will ensure a vanilla game for those who don't want to play mods when they come out. I assure you, when SA Epoch comes out, you bet your ass that is where a large majority of players will go. In the mod, because of this, the vanilla servers died.

    How did you discover DayZ?

I discovered it in the very early days, in 2012. Found it on a random video on YouTube by a person called The Zemaf. He was a Russian guy, and I was hooked. I was 12 then, and my parents would never have let me buy it, so I passionately followed everything about the game on YouTube and on the forums. I didn't get it until I bought the standalone, the version that included Arma Complete. Been playing both the mod and SA ever since.
  14. People yell that they want to now where it is. Hicks talks about needing to code out the legacy renderer, yet people keep asking. I have a solution. Why don't the devs just talk about what files are left for removal of the old renderer, and which parts are done. Not a list of each and every file, but more in general. Maybe even a percentage of files left. Brian, I think what people really want is to know exactly how much progress it will take for the renderer and new engine. Any news about the possibility of me getting more than 5 frames a second is good news.
  15. I have made all the settings changes, and I barely get 30 in the middle of nowhere. I'm lucky to get over 5 in cities. This makes me bring up this point. People are so often told to just not play until a few updates have passed. I was told this at launch, to wait 6 months, and it should be better. Then again 6 months later, and again now. The point is not that the development is slow, it's that why should I have to be told not play a game I bought? The point of the early access was to let people play the game and help with the development by finding the bugs and problems, and giving feedback on design choices. How am I supposed to to that if I am told by many to not play the game until it is almost finished? Where is the logic in that? I don't want to have to leave it alone until it's content complete. I want to play it and participate in the testing, that's why I bought it. That's why I think we need the performance so bad. How else can we fully test the game and comprehensive feedback on the other aspects of the game, because at the moment the framerate can sometimes even make me feel ill.

What I think needs to be said about the new renderer.

They wouldn't need to put all the small parts that they are working on. Things can be generalized. If they are working on grass, trees, water, buildings, etc. they could just say Enviroment. Infected and animals = AI. Weapons, food, clothes = Items. ETC. I think the lack of understanding of what the engine really is and why it needs so much work is because all we have is it takes a lot of work to code out the legacy renderer. I just would like to know what is currently being worked on, and what needs to be done. Not out of impatience, but out of curiosity of the progress of the game I supported in it's early stage of development. Reading the newest status report, I realize it may be sooner than I originally thought. This kind of detail may not be necessary very soon.

What I think needs to be said about the new renderer.

I see the reason in your argument, but that is why they have a community guy to put together the status reports, right. They don't make the programmers do that. I am not asking for a file by file list. I just want them to talk about what they have done with the new engine in every status report. Stuff like, "We've been working on ______ lately, and ________ is making progress." This is a generalization, but they should have more info like this.

I missed this status report. Thank you. This is the stuff I am talking about. I just hope that they get into detail like this more often.

DayZ SA Modding: A New Map

How about the Mojave? Don't know if this was suggested earlier, but I don't want to flip through all of these pages. But the Mojave would be an awesome area to play in. could include the edge areas of LA, or go north around Santa Clarita, Bakersfield, and the Antelope Valley (My home). It is a very diverse area actually, in the hills you can have pine forests and snow during winter, and of course, deserts.

Why is the amount I can look up limited?

When I tried to look up, my view was locked at a certain point. Not straight up, but at a certain degree just above the horizontal point. Why? This wasn't there before. I couldn't raise my mouse to put the view higher, and my Track IR didn't work either. Why is this considered necessary?

    How to Fix Gamma Exploit

To fix the FoV zoom exploit, the devs just limited the amount the FoV could be changed. Why not do this with Gamma? This would keep players from putting it so high to make night easier. Others say that people will just change the Gamma on their monitor. This would not be as big of an issue as people think it would. It would be more of an issue to change, and less would feel the need to do it. If people think there is a more fair playing field with Gamma being limited, less people will feel the need to do it. In short, the amount of people who would change monitor gamma is far fewer than people who change it in game.

    Never ever friendly again

Do not yell "FRIENDLY FRIENDLY FRIENDLY!" when you meet someone. Do not trust anyone who does. Kill them or get away. Greet them as you would a normal person in real life. "Hey man, how's it going?" etc. If you catch them by surprise, have your gun out only if in a situation that requires it, not necessarily pointed at them, but stop them and make your intentions clear. Most encounters will not require it if you keep yourself out of their sight. Hold control of the situation. If they catch you, keep calm, don't Friendlyspasm, and don't back yourself into a corner.

    How to Fix Gamma Exploit

Exactly, and unless there is a moon out, it can be pitch black sometimes. The stars help, but only so much, and only on perfectly clear nights.

I have discovered a new way to up the FPS

Get rid of those launch parameters. Seriously. I was reading through the feedback tracker, when I came across one post about random memory leaks. The moderator told him his files he attached were using launch parameters, and to get rid of them, as the game doesn't support them. I figured I'd give it a try. With launch parameters in Cherno: 5-12 fps. Without: 25-35 fps. The fps was more stable, without many random drops or freezing. This blew my mind. I don't know if it works for everyone, but it sure worked for me. I think this is why people say the performance has gotten worse as updates came. After a while, everyone added those parameters because they thought they helped. But they really got worse as the game progressed. I hope this helps you beautiful people.

I have discovered a new way to up the FPS

I don't know what it is then. I didn't have a memory leak to fix though. All I know is It gives me better frames in towns. Although it did get as low as 15 fps in Berezino.
