Why Mouse Acceleration in First Person desperately needs Fixing #2 *Long Post*
kiloswiss replied to 27 others's topic in General Discussion
Look how many people in this thread (and several others about the very same topic) want it to be changed. Also have a look on how many notes and upvotes the main issue in the issue tracker has: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=76 I'll give you some time to read it and "Think about that". Calling me a dumbass and posting a "wannabe look smart" link might make you look cool from the perspective of a twelve Year old, I personally prefer to have conversations in a mature manner and with arguments. Have a nice day. -
Why Mouse Acceleration in First Person desperately needs Fixing #2 *Long Post*

I didn't buy the Alpha to "play the game early", but to support the developers by finding and reporting bugs, and help them on their way to finish a product that seems to become something great. But at the moment i completely refuse to play the alpha with that negative mouse acceleration and i also convinced a few other people that asked me about it, to not buy it before this got fixed. I do not care if the alpha lacks a lot of content, i do not care if things are broken, i do not care about crashes, glitches, character wipes, placeholders and bugs at all. But if something makes me quit the game (no matter how good all the other aspects of this alpha are), because it doesn't let me "dive" into the virtual world, then i call this a "completely gamebraking" mechanic. The fact that this is not a bug, but was implementet intentionally makes it even worse in my eyes. If something brakes the immersion in such an "unignorable" way, that i can't just overlook it by the fact that it's still an early alpha, then it is a much more serious problem than any other broken/unfinished aspect of the game. This is not something you can easy get used to, it's annoying as hell and completely keeps us away from having an enjoyable gaming experience. I gave the alpha many tries, but this unnatural "mousefeeling" always annoyed me to the point that i quit the game, no matter how hard i tried to ignore it and focus on other game aspects. I'm really looking forward to the next update, where hopefully the devs patched the negative mouse acceleration out of the alpha. I love everything that adds some authenticity (don't let us talk about realism in a game) to a game, but for the moment i would like to recommend the following steps: Just give us raw input and 1:1 aiming (no neg. or positive acceleration) for the moment so we can actually play the game and help evolve it. Then implement a better system to simulate the weight when you figured out a way to do it without rendering the game almost unplayable for a big part of your playerbase. Negative mouse acceleration is, ever was and will ever be a 100% complete NO GO and has absolutely no place in ANY PC game! The devs. can't be true PC players if they really thought this was a good idea when they implementet that faulty negative mouse acceleration! If you (the devs) now offically claim that negative mouse acceleration is a good thing, i will put you in the same dark corner with patrick back (yes that arrogant guy that lies to their customers and is also the executive producer on Battlefield 3 & 4) that says «Modding is a declining trend»! Also the closed alpha testers should have reportet that as the #1 issue in the very first minute they spawned for the first time and startet to look around. I don't know if they did, but if not, then you picked the wrong people to support you with feedback during the closed alpha. Now that the alpha is available for the masses you finally get some honest feedback and requests from the actual playerbase, now you only have to listen to us. You want people that "quote from the steam store page"«WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME», to play the alpha? Then don't ingore us, remove negative mouse acceleration completely until you found a better working solution and let us play the gam, so we can actively help you in your development process. Thanks, see you in berenzino when the alpha is in a playable state. -
So people getting kicked and banned by Battleeye are hackers?

Mouse issues, literally unplayable... top priority?

Nope. Tried everything in the Profile settings, seems to be hardcoded/cant be turned off by changing a config variable. Greez KiloSwiss -

This currently is the most annoying thing in the DayZ Standalone Alpha! I don't understand the devs. they can't be true PC players if they agree to implement negative mouse acceleration. Good thing that it's already in the issue tracker: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=76 TL;DR The only thing that really has to go is the negative mouse acceleration. Negative Mouse acceleration is some of the worst things you can implement into a PC game and it should not be in ANY game at all. Limit the turn/lookaround speed is okay, using neg. mouse acc. is NOT! @Frostbyte_ If your mouse is "jumpy", clean your optical sensor, maybe there is a tiny hair or some dust in front of the lens. @ZedsDeadBaby I'm really not sure if you are only trolling or if you just can't understand or see by yourself what problem we are discussing here. DayZ's Biggest problem at this moment (27/12/2013) (Excluding Bugs)

You should add "No end game options" to the list. Because of this, people get bored really fast as soon as they are geared up and start going to KoS in areas where you could also encounter other players in a friendly manner. Also something i would like to say: Players who use a hack to cheat are either "Cheaters" or "Script Kiddys". The Hackers are the ones who write/Code the Hack (or AntiCheat Bypass). By calling some random Scriptkiddy a Hacker, you give them credit for something 99,999% of them will never be able to do (most of them fail to load the hack and/or use it the right way, so I doubt they will ever understand how to code their own hack). Just my 2 cents Greez KiloSwiss -
@ZedsDeadBaby I have the strong feeling that You clearly belong into another game. I know what kind of players I get confrontet in DayZ, I'm not naive. I know how to play the Game, I also know that, what Azmjs and his mates are doing (and you are defending so hard) is neither smart, nor clever, it's just douchebaggery for people with low self esteem, and only other douches will jump in on this topic to defend such a "trust destroying" playstyle. Don't get me wrong here, DayZ would not provide that immersion it currently does, when there were no bandits around, but people playing the "friendly" cart, only to fall into the guys back are playing the game completely wrong in my eyes, but it's okay, everyone is allowed to play the game the way he wants. If you are a bandit, KoS or use the new handcuffs and then rob the players you encounter, that's what a bandit does (beside many other things), not what Azmjs and his friends are doing. The only things I have to facepalm really hard about are: #1. Bragging in the forums about how cheap these guys got their 26 "kills". #2. Defending their playstyle, not noticing what an influence this will have onto other players, especially new ones. But I guess, it's just the problem of the mod being so popular and gaining too much attention from the wrong people. And the SA will attract mostly the same people, that also played the mod before, so there will not be a big difference in the playerbase between Mod and SA. Just because you support such a destructive playstyle, does not mean people that do not agree have to move away from the game. We all know that there are already too much players with the KOS/DM and "playing-false-friendly" mentality in the game (because of missing end game and many other reasons). But instead of defending it, we should focusing on building up a larger base of "better" players (better in terms of not using douche tactics and not killing on sight if not necessary/no threat around) to counter all those douches and "I wanna make frags herpderp" players that seem to become more and more every day, without any "help" from others (I woul have liked to say here: The idiots come from alone, we don't have to care about getting them into the game). We are the comunity, we can make the difference. And just to say, my group did make a difference by saving a freshspawn, that got hunted by zombies and fell unconcious while bleeding out yesterday. We bandaged him, gave him a SALINE-IV, geared him up etc. The feeling we got after doing this was great, something you will never experience if you play the "bad" way, and it gives you a higher "personal reward" than killing some unarmed players while fully geared and clearly outnumbering them. The fact is: Being a douche in DayZ required no skill (especially when playing in a group), but knowing who you can trust and help the right people, clearly does. So bragging in this forum about playing a "no skill needed" playstyle and/or supporting this kind of stupid attitude, makes you someone I can only laugh about, maybe you should search another game you actually can play, because it seems that you are only able to "score" (on a low level btw.) in DayZ by using cheap tactics. You're not smart, you're the exact opposite of it, but if you have fun being so, then continue this way because nobody forces you to become clever (as a person in general). Have a nice day.

And you are so proud of this story, that you have to share it? What is wrong with you and your mates, especially with you, that you have to brag about being part of a group of douches, acting like assholes in a game? Please format c:/ and throw your pc out of the window. Oh, and your mates too please. Thanks for making DayZ a bit better by leaving. Have a nice day.

This does not answer my question. I recommend to go with Windows 8. It is superior to Windows 7 in any way (support, performance, security, backup function, etc.) and you don't have to use the "Metro" GUI if you don't like it! You will have better performance/ressource management in Windows 8, compared to Windows 7, resulting in better gaming performance, especially in multithreading optimized games/game engines. Also every programm or driver runs flawless on Windows 8 nowadays. Very important: Buy the x64 version of Windows 8, since the x32 versions only support up to ~4GB of System RAM! Greez KiloSwiss

@Dilly0509 The Intel HD 3000 should be able to handle the game on low settings and of course not on a high resolution. The CPU is the bottleneck and since you run Windows in Bootcamp, this setup would not provide you, what I call, a playable framerate in DayZ, especially when entering towns, it will most probably end up in a Diashow for you. Would you kindly explain to all of us, why he should prefer Windows 7 over Windows 8? Greez KiloSwiss
