I think the reason for the outcry against Nighttime
Gth replied to Gth's topic in General Discussion
And if I post my own topic it accomplishes the same goal. It doesn't explain why you have a stick up your rear about it. And regardless, I brought up a point I haven't seen anyone bring up in the several topics I did read on the subject. A point that does warrant its own topic because it gives a fair explanation that does away with the typical responses to people getting uppity about night time. -
I just had a horrible experience (serious discussion).

Its this kind of attitude that creates bandits and the sort that think this game is FFA Deathmatch. -
Yep, fill the canteen (or water bottle) and put the tabs in. I think it may be bugged however, as doing so uses up all the tabs in that slot you dragged over, rather than in increments. I'm sure we'll eventually be able to boil water, but so far I've been unable to, even with all the necessary tools.

So? Am I disrupting your pretty forum page? Is seeing another thread at the top of the page REALLY that much of a chore that you actually get exasperated about it? Its not like when the server's went down and the page is being flooded with new topics every 5 seconds, so honestly get over it. I will never understand people who get inexplicably annoyed by topics that aren't actually disrupting anything. -
In my experience well water IS much, much cleaner than regular pond or river water. However, I can confirm that you can get sick from drinking it (as I had one play through where I literally only drank from wells (as that's all I ever came across) and I ended up getting sick). So, if you can, purify. If you can't, well water is a mostly safe bet.

Oh, the sweet sweet irony. -
Crime and Punishment is the only one I found that I enjoyed (in real life anyway. Don't have the patience in-game to read that particular book) I did find Frankenstein once though, which I wanted to read but it was ruined so I couldn't do anything with it unfortunately.

Agreed. Without a more realistic damage model (if you get shot in the legs, nothing in your backpack should be damaged) they should tone down the damage rate a bit. Either that, or give items more unique health values relative to what they are. IE, a tactical shirt should take more damage then a bambi t-shirt for instance.

Are you purifying your water? I bet you aren't, you silly poop water drinking man. And actually the scale for getting hungry/thirsty is pretty well done considering the scale of the game. The problem is, which I don't think everyone realizes, is that unlike the mod, eating one bit of food and taking one swig of water doesn't replenish your thirst and hunger meters to 100%. They go up in increments. Thats why people end up getting thirsty every 5 minutes, because they're only eating/drinking enough to stave off the feeling (30% to 35% iirc), and then running for 5 minutes, basically burning up that entire bit of food or drink in one go. When you're completely full on both meters, you could actually go for a solid hour or so before its completely necessary to drink or eat again, and thats if you jog with minimal sprinting. That could double if you're one of those types who likes to walk and not run everywhere. Which leads me to another little tip. Just because you're screen is telling you you're thirsty doesn't mean you need to start drinking immediately. Just like it was in the mod, its still recommened to let yourself get closer to the red (I think the indicators turn orange? if they do, thats when you should drink) before you consume anything. That way you get the most out of your supplies without getting unreasonably close to starvation or dehydration.

Because its really, really nice. Incidentally, does anyone know what the weapon flashlight attaches to, if anything? I -think- if it does actually attach to a weapon then it would be the M4, and that I'd need some kind of different handguard to attach it. But i'm not sure.

Roaming the northern areas (I'm sad that they aren't barren anymore D:) and watching the trees, I watch as they sway back and forth about 1-2m every time. Pretty strange.

[Suggestions] What is the main problem with the "too easy to gear up" and how to fix it
Gth replied to enricksolt's topic in General Discussion
I think the problem has more to do with there not being very much to spawn. So things that are in fact reasonably rare are artificially more common due to the smaller pool of items. An item can have 1% chance of spawning in a pool of 500 items, but reduce that number of items down to 100 or even 50 then that 1% chance seems like a lot more. -
Actually horses would be pretty cool.

Something I've noticed is that literally every barn I've been in, across all the different servers I've been in, regardless of whether the server's been up 2 hours or just restarted, I don't find a single bit of loot. Am I just massively unlucky, or do barns just plain not have loot anymore? I mean, I even searched in between the bales of hay and the boxes, and nothing. Kind of a shame really, I always liked going to barns because they were good places to hide in if I needed to rest and alt-tab out, so the chance at decent low to mid-level loot was a nice plus.

Oh the woes of trying to make out as a doctor in this game. Carry no weapons (cept a small knife for killing the occasional zombie if I have to) and constantly walk around with my trusty first aid kit in my hands and my bright orange Kenny parka so people can more clearly understand I'm just a simple country doctor and bang, zoom, they still shoot me in the face like I was thrusting an M4 into their visages. -.- But alas, now I've finally made it off the coast with a good assortment of medical supplies to go help those in need. Only took me one suicide and 4 murders to get there, but hey, what can you do right? Incidentally, what all can you do medical wise now? I know you can disinfect your rags/bandages to help you or your patient not get sick. I know vitamins and antibios help to that end as well. I get what saline does. I'm not liking that it seems that blood bags are now a vampire-like system. I've got the trusty morphine and epi pens. Is there anything else to it that anyone's discovered?

Yes indeed, that is the map for standalone. And as for the names, most of the Cyrillic versions of the city names do look a lot like their Latin counterparts. Stary Sobor for instance looks very similiar to its Cyrillic version.

Protip: See that little grey dot in the middle of the screen? Aim that at zombie, then, click, twice. Boom, dead zed is dead. At worst, you may or may not have to aim slightly towards wherever your weapon swings from.

Don't forget to loot cars. Cars have cool things in them. Like food!

When can we expect vehicles to in the game?
Gth replied to code_man313's topic in General Discussion
Personally I hope it ends up being that we can basically build a car out of scraps. That way there could be only a couple of functional cars already spawned on the map, with the rest requiring building. It would stop all that nonsense vech hoarding that went on in the mod. -
Surely there must be some way to just automatically merge every topic with such keywords as "server" "wait for host" or "god dammit"

This one time, I looted a hospital, and then I walked out of a window, and then I died.
