    Stable Branch - 0.52 Discussion

    After a very long break from the game, I've decided to give it a try and see what has changed. The good: - Hunting - cooking - cannibalism ( had a game session dedicated to that - ended sick and dead :( ) - pink dress ( picture an encounter with a player with the following loadout: no pants, Pink Dress, Pink Hat, Wellies, Child Briefcase. Axe ) - V3S - Zombies ( no more getting hits, from invisible zombies, or zombies that are not facing you .. :thumbsup: ) - New locations / items / ... - private hives ( whitelist servers are now "legal". And this is a very good way to avoid hackers ) - cold / hot player status. - Persistency. - pbo hack fixed ?? ( i guess it has been fixed ) The bad: - Framerate dropping inside towns ( hopefully this will be fixed when the new engine will be released) - Hackers ( really "fun" to trolled by an invisible player ) - V3S ( unable to go over a fence with the truck.... really? >:( ) - Although the new features are really nice, there are still 2 critical issues that make the game unplayable. Framerate: It's hard to play in the towns at 20 fps. ( drop from 80 - 100 outside towns ) Hackers: The probability to find a hacker in game is very high on servers with 25+ players. This is a problem, because I really enjoy playing on full server. I guess it's time for a new break. :(

    If you cheat once - yup no more MP for you. ( one year let's say ) If it's a code error, your ban is investigated, and it will be removed.

    No, it wasn't a serious question. i just wanted to point out how stupid the "this is the alfa stage" answer is. From my point of view, all game developers should create a HUGE cheaters database. And if you cheat in one game, then you'll be banned in all MP games.

    It's still working. Also a new feature is now available: spawn items :) I guess i'll have to wait a little longer to check if the dev are focusing on fixing the big problems or not. @For all who keep saying this is alfa stage: if this is so, then why ban players who keep hacking the game? this is alfa, they try to check the vulnerabilities of the game?

    As i said, we played in a 6 player squad. One one of us experienced this character reset after server restart. He tried: 1. stay on server until, until server restarts automatically ( yellow chain + red chain - no message received ) - no success 2. disconnect prior to server reset - when 5 min message was display, we disconnected - no success 3. play only on one server - no success 4. curse, invoke the gods of dayz - much stress released, but still character reset. There are some game breaking bugs that need to be fix ASAP, and all the focus should be on them. Hopefully, the devs are looking into this, and not into adding new hats... I think many of us fell in this way, because there is no info regarding the progress the devs are doing in fixing this bugs. It would be nice to have a forum post, with: - current major bug in the game - progress in fixing them - road-map on fixing them Also, if new info is needed, i guess there are a lot of players willing to help. try to reproduce the bugs, or check if the bugs are fixed. In the end dayz is a game where the community has a major factor in developing the game. We can also be testers, if that is needed.

    You can have it even worst. We played in a 6 players group. In 80% of cases, after each restart the character of one of out friends, ( the same one each time ) was reseted to fresh spawn. This was fun in the beginning, but after some time it, he stopet playing, because he was tired of running back to NEAF after each restart.
  7. When DayZ SA was still in discussions, and not even in alfa, i remember that Dean stated that they will give a high priority to the hack topic. It was something like: Aimbot will still be possible, but not teleport, spawn weapons, ... Until now: spawn weapons - fixed. God mode - fixed. Teleport - not fixed Aimbot - not fixed Wallhack - not fixed Player location on map - not fixed Infinit ammo - not fixed PBO hack - not fixed

    Work on new content, but this is not the point here. For sure they have categories of bugs and new features. On the stable branch: In a new release the main focus should be to fix severity A bugs. ( severity A bug - hacks, exploits, any game breaking bug ). New content could reach the release - if this new features are not huge ( like physics ... ). - if the new feature was tested in the experimental build and it's stable On the experimental branch: - The main focus should be adding the new features. This features should stay in experimental branch until all major bugs are fixed. When a new feature is stable, it should be moved in the stable branch. I get that bugs that happen once, or don't have the steps to reproduce will be a pain in the ass, and will take a while to fix, but I still don't get how bugs, that have 100% reproduce rate are not fixed.

    I'm working in the software dev industy, and yes, i do know a thing or two about how a project is done. But let's get the facts: 1. On the feedback, this issue is marked as fixed. ( poor testing on their side ) 2. On the forum a lot of players are complaining about this problem. 3. It is a game breaking problem, because it allows you to remove buildings, trees, and gain a huge advantage. 4. It should be really easy to fix. When you load the pbo, just check it is the right one, and not corrupted. I'm not against adding new content to the game, but if it was a matter of choice, i would say: let's fix the old serious problems, and then add new stuff. And who is to say that the new stuff will not bring even more bugs?

    Just died. Killer by player using by pbo hack. But, at least I found a rotten zucchini.... >:( Really, DEVS, stop wasting time on new content, and start fixing the game.

    According to feedback tracker this bug is fixed: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=4774 According to what we experienced in the last night session, it's not. So far i see the following scenarios that need to be tested and not allowed: 1. Delete pbo prior to enter game. ( this i guess is fixed now ) 2. Delete pbo prior to enter game, place them back after so battleeye will not find anything wrong with the game. - when starting the game just check if the files you load are not corrupted / missing. If so start the update procedure. - battleeye should do random check of what is loaded vs what is in dayz folders 3. Rename one pbo file as another pbo file. ( rename pbo tree as pbo military structs ). - just have a CRC list of the files. If they don't match, start update procedure. I know this is the alfa stage of the game, and this is the time to find the huge problems, but i would expect that after such a problem is found, that the fix will come as a priority.

    Why don't you fix the pbo file hack. When the objects are loaded, if any file is missing, just don't start the game. Just say game files corrupted, and start game repair. Today on server: "lastMPServer="82.96.119.170:2702"; lastMPServerName="Another DayZ In Paradise - Daytime - 2 Hour Restarts";Time: Around 23.40Players: [APC]Peacemaker and [APC] Peacekeeper spawned in the NEAF prison ( glitch room ), and killed two players.Please check the logs and ban this two.

    No problem. We are all survivors and help each other. At least until we get really geared up, because after that, some go PVP.

    What you are doing ok: 1. spawn in a low populated server: this will increase your chances of finding loop. 2. hydrate really fast 3. not whine about the new zombies What can be improved: 1. check if the house has the doors opened. if so, don't bother with looting the house or the town. There is a high probability that someone was already there and you are just wasting time. 2. loop only food-houses, and weapon houses. - housev2_05 it's a wooden house with some blue paint on it. In the kitchen you'll find a lot of food. - read brick house - weapon and in kitchen 2 food items - house with piano - weapon and food items 3. at first you don't need a backpack because you will eat all will find. If you are spawned in east cost region try to go to Msta, Staroye, Dolina, Polana if you are spawned in west cost region ( near elecro ) try to go in balota via Dubky and Novoselky and then go to Komorovo - Kamenka - Povlovo.

    to fix a broken leg / arm you must use morphine or splints.
