  1. So I don't know whether or not the devs actually have time to look in the suggestion forums, but I figured I would post this here just in case. I have a suggestion that I really think would be neat to see and one of those small things that adds to the immersion of the game. Animations and options when opening doors. So, if anyone has played the splinter cell games this will sound familiar. Basicly, when you walk up to a closed door (not a gate, this idea only applies to doors in houses and building) it has three options. Open Door, Open Door Quietly, and Kick Door. Open Door: Relativily quick method of opening the door, it allows you to enter a house or room quickly while making a little bit of noise. Open Door Quietly: Slow method of opening the door, however this method is silent to zombies, a slight creaking noise can be heard by players. Kick Door: Loudest, but fastest way of opening a door. Kicking a door will knock a zombie or player standing on the other side of the door over; players recover quickly, zombies recover slowly. I honestly think its the little things like this, and other great things that rocket has implemented that stand this game out from the competition. Obviously this would need to be tested, require good animations to be made, and probably not be something to add until later in development, but things like this are what I really hope to see in a simulator such as DayZ.

    New Standalone Screenshots released

I suppose this is a little bit off topic, but one the subject of building interiors it had me thinking about how buildings and rooms will come into play in the future of DayZ. 3. This looks amazing. I've downloaded the mod and sent you a personal message. Can't wait to play!
  4. This looks absolutely awesome. I will definitely be trying this out, will give me something to play while I wait for DayZ Standalone!

    New Standalone Screenshots released

This is really excellent work, keep it up rocket, your team is doing great! I can't wait for the official release, I'll be buying two copies one for me and one for my girl friend. One thing that would be awesome to see is maybe bodies in the houses of either suicides or victims who didn't make it. Also, I hope that looting is going to be more realistic like finding items on tables, or in cabinets, or maybe even fridges. I guess kind of a Fallout 3 type thing, but I suppose you all are already working on this with realism being the main focus for your guys. Again, excellent work, keep it up! -Ghost Kage

Should we remove barbed wire in the next update

Yes. I've never seen it used for anything other than trolling people. it's unrealistic when you walk into a city and every building is blocked off with barbed wire.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

Can't wait to hear more information about this! Hopefully the final product will start to look more solid. I hope there are tons of clothing options and customization so that each survivor is unique! Also, can't wait to see what the map looks like! Give us teaser screenshots and videos please! :D
  8. Don't know if this has been suggested, but I think it would be pretty cool to have bandit skins added to the types of clothing lootable around chernarus. While some might argue it would make a player look hostile, I think most of us know by now the humanity system no longer turns people into bandits. Thoughts? :P
  9. So, I've seen a few of these around here on the forums, and most of them were pretty good, in fact I use one on my computer. My only gripe was with the ones I found, none of them were too good for printing, and I like to keep a printed map next to me when playing, since I play on three monitors and can't Alt+Tab easily. So I made my own, and printed it out. I figured I would share it with the rest of the community so you all could print it out as well. :) The map is the one found on Dslyecxi's ArmA II website, and I added the locations of wells, hospitals, and general stores. Here is a direct link to where you can either print it or download it: http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/5016/mapwithkey.jpg
  10. lemmiepie, just download it, then print it using Windows Photo Viewer. When the printing option appears click full size.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

Yeah your probably right SystemiK. Looking forward to the new update, can't wait to see what's in store for us! My only hope is that there aren't as many quick fixes as last time. My friend and I were trying to play the night that like 10 hotfixes came out, and every time we finally downloaded the latest patch, and got in game, a new one was released, and the server bugged out. Not to mention I got debug wildernessed, and even though I ran all the way back, I died on login as the result of another bug one day later.. =( lol

    Solo play + recovering blood

A lot of the suggestions make sense, but I think the idea behind the blood bags being so over powered is to increase player interaction and make people play with others, as opposed to just playing solo and shooting other players on sight. This game really shines and is meant to be played with others, not jus against.
  13. Okay, so I'm prepared for the type of person who is going to reply to this saying 'Just don't be dumb and hit respawn", but I still think this is something that needs to be implemented. It's far too easy to accidently kill yourself when attempting to adjust the options or even disconnect. I really think that one of the things that needs to be added is a warning menu that pops up when you click on "Respawn" in the game menu. This is the only game that I've played that has the respawn button inbetween the Options, and Abort buttons. If it's going to stay in that spot then it needs to have a second warning menu pop up. I just lost my ghillie suit the other day and I am a very unhappy camper. :dodgy: At this point I'm not worried about doing it again, as I've learned my lesson. But this a lesson that should not have to be learned in the first place, as it's a flaw in menu design. I know that rocket didn't make the menu, and that it came with Arma 2, but in a game where death is such a loss, suicide should be much more difficult than clicking too early when attempting to change the controls.

Niemands "Cleaning a Village aka Settling down"

I like the idea, definitely. I really think something similar to this will be added eventually. We won't see it in Arma 2, but maybe in the Arma 3 version. I hope that an individual map is being made just for DayZ, with fully enterable buildings, and some sort of version of this idea implemented. Maybe even 100+ populated servers. Who knows what we have waiting for us when Arma 3 hits stores.

    Quick tie tourniquet item...

Sounds like a pretty cool idea too me. Creative and practical for in-game scenarios like the one you depicted. I definitely think it would be cool if something like this is added, however it would need to be somewhat rare and only found at military base hospital tents, or something like that. At the moment it looks like only things that make the game harder are being implemented so it might be awhile before we see something like this.. lol

North Star for Navigation at Night

It's in-game but I have never been able to find it. Every time I've needed it its been too cloudy, and then by the time the clouds clear up, I've found a compass. :P

    Crossbow Suggestions - new item/more

I myself have been using the crossbow as my primary weapon for some time now. It's fun and adds more challege to the game. I agree completeley with all of the suggestions you've made. Would definitely improve the usefulness of the crossbow. Also, I think that when you shoot a zombie and score a kill, you should be able to loot the bolt from the zombie, and not have to actually find the crossbow bolt and pull it out. I've lost lots of bolts because of glitched zombies falling through stairs or just consuming the bolt all together. In Oblivion and Skyrim when you shoot something with an arrow, you can just loot the arrow back just like normal items.
  18. After reading your post I wanna' give this moderator a high five.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

Looking forward to the update! Rocket, could you please make crossbow bolts retrievable from a zombies inventory if you score a kill with the crossbow? All too often do I shoot a zombie in the midsection and they fall ontop of the bolt, essentially making it impossible to find. I think I got this idea from Oblivion, as when you shoot an NPC with an arrow, you can then pick the arrow back up when looting their inventory. I and I'm sure many other crossbow users would be happy to see this added!

    Fix for the Crossbow

Recently I had to start a new character (my old one had been alive since the beginning of the mods release, but was killed due to the new updates...) and I've been using the crossbow. I love it. I think its perfect the way it is, my only, and only gripe is the ability to pickup arrows. Sometimes, I score a kill in the midsection of an infected, and then they fall ontop of the arrow, and now the arrow is gone. I think if you shoot a zombie with the arrow, it should be retreavable from their inventory like in Oblivion or Skyrim. Thats the only fix I think the crossbow needs.
  21. Just wanted to let you know, for anyone who has experienced the debug wilderness, that you don't HAVE to suicide your character. I ran south-east for about an hour and a half and I was able to reach Zernogorsk. If you have 2-3 bottles of water or soda's, + 2 food, you can survive the hike. Just wanted to let anyone who is stuck in the debug wilderness as a result of the new patches know. :D
  22. Hey, just had a quick question. Been playing this since pretty much the initial release, and I've never allowed my characters temperature to lower past like 39. How low can your temp drop before you risk infection? Thanks! :D
  23. I think someone needs to read rocket's facts of life.. http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=14753 This post only serves to create argueing and generally unhappy, unfriendly behavior. Tsk. Tsk. =P
  24. Not a bad idea, but if you think about it it's a zombie apocalypse, and we don't know when it took place or how fast it spread. Are we surviving after it hit 10 years ago? Or did it just recently happen? These are important factors to consider when determining whether or not to lower the spawn rate of food. If you've ever read The Walking Dead comics, in the beginning food and water really isn't an issue. Yes, it's something that they have to keep in mind, and make sure they are prepared, but it wasn't the hardest thing to deal with. However, in more recent comics, food is becoming a real issue, and they have to travel farther out, and then rejoice if they just find a stale bag of potato chips. Personally there are tons of things to worry about in DayZ, and I think food is pretty balanced in its current state. Maybe on Veteran servers... then you can be more IMMERSED!! =P

    Petition to make Zombies harder.

I like the idea of more dead bodies, and I would also like to add that it would be cool to see traffic jams outside of the cities from people attempting to get out. However, Rocket has said that the zombies in DayZ are infected people, similair to 28 "DayZ" Later. That being said, they are not reanimated corpses. However, it would be cool to see more zombies roaming around the map and in the forests, would make players a little more cautious when strolling through the forests. For now though, I like how its currently setup, as it makes sense for lag issues on the servers. I'm sure little details like these will be added in future beta and official release versions. For now its in alpha so core gameplay mechanics and things of that nature are top priority for the devs I'm sure.
