    DayZ SA - Random Forest Camps

    I like this ídea esspecially when the position of those camps is randomized and/or players are able to build them. Additionally i wish there were more flora and fauna availble for interaction :/

    Server Hop Solution: Lock to server

    Nope, I thought of that it will be increased for every server hop (to a different server) let's say the first hop will cost you only the log off time (30 Sec down tuesday) the second hop will cost you 5 Minutes the third one 15 Minutes the fourth one 30 Minutes the fifth one 45 Minutes and the sixth++ one 1 Hour. Counter of hops should be reset every 1-3 hours for every survivor. (for example)

    I think that's the way to go with this problem, no one will keep server hopping if they suddenly have to wait 1 hour to join another one.

    Stamina

    Good idea but the mechanic to recover stamina by just being near of a campfire is kinda doubtful, but there should be some kind of body-temperature system in Dayz, unfortunately i didn't take notice from that yet, but i hope it's still contained in the stand-alone :) Furthermore I'd like a more complex stamina system to be in the game this idea could be integrated there too maybe even in conjunction with some kind of sleep-cycle mechanic.

    Damaged Items

    I don't actually think that PvP will go down just because you can't loot the body anymore, but i like the current system of item degredation and looting a body. What i don't like is that killing another player currently has no real consequences, ok your humanity drops but that does nothing. I think there should be some kind of mechanic to punish people, who consistently shoot large number of players, after a while.
  8. Nice ideas and i like most of them with the exception of lockpicking (too joker for me ^^) and that soldier Zombie thing... my favorites are the video camera and the whole dragging/bury bodys thing :)

    Suggestion - Usable Train - Dayz SA

    I like the idea to have trains that players can repair and use, but i think that trains shouldn't be this overpowered just increase the capacity as refund for only being able to drive on rails and go for it, i don't see a reason why trains should have gunports and stuff while other vehicles don't.

    Hmm.. i thought about that a while and maybe a system like in Dayz Origins (mod) could help here with the addition that bandits can't build anything, because the system assumes that people with low humanity are either nomads anyway (like in the movies ^^) or too retarded to build their own houses :P This can maybe lead to more role-playing effects, because bandits are in need of more tents and in need of defending those, while heroes are mostly too trusty to other players or don't have good weapons (because they don't look after it). Of course i'm open to better suggestions anytime ^^.
  11. That's a great idea some details might be a little bit OP (fishing should take a realistic amount of time and you need to use a decoy) but i want fishing definately implemented in this game :)

Well i think your ideas are a very much too strict, the increase for every hop is unnecessary in my oppinion and there shouldn't be any bans given out for that but i like the idea that the character have to stay in-game when the player decides to quit before log-out timer runs out, i think that player shouldn't be allowed to connect to another server until his character has logged out from the first server.

    Changed graphics now cant play

    Ok try to delete everything dayz related in your documents folder (C:\Users\<User>\Documents) and try to delete everything in this folder: C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\DayZ if this does not help then just try to reinstall the game.

    Nah, i think such a system won't make any difference to that problem and i think it will be unfair to spawn in with a pistol (just because you played longer) compared to new people spawning in. In Dayz there already is a humanity system (increases on killing zombies and help others and decreases when hurting or killing other players (ranges from -16000 to 16000 and starts at 2500)) the problem here is to bring meaning to that system and it have to make any sense considering realism.

    Day/Night Cycle

    Well it doesn't matter if people actually "want" to play at night time it's just there and it's simply fact that night-time is one major part of the game, you can't simply go and say lets reduce nighttime to 20% that's just bullshit and to prevent people continously hopping to "day server" (wich is the actual problem) easiest approach would be to unify timezones of all servers or install some other system to prevent "server hopping".

Realtime sleep => I think that's not the way to go 2. Napping for 2-10 Minutes after couple of hours => interesting fact to that idea: http://www.polyphasicsociety.com/polyphasic-sleep/overviews/uberman-2/ 3. Log out = Sleep with Energy meter => This could be some kind of esoteric gaming mechanism :D 4. Log out = Sleep with need to find shelter to save the current position when logging out. (No other penalties) => Maybe an interesting mechanic to fight combat loggers. I think to find a way to cover energy, exhaustion, warmth and at least some kind of sleepcycle will be vital in order to make Dayz more realistic. Most interesting part in my oppinion is that it has to be necassary to find some save spot from time to time in order to recover. For the life of me i like the idea to be in need of napping from time to time, because it is a good trade-off between practical use and realism. Furthermore could a tent become more important or some new items (like sleeping bags) could be implemented in the game. What do you think about it and wich solution do you want to see in the game? :)

    I think OP is right here but it's difficult to implement something to fix this issue that will not automatically clash with reality, because leveling systems are kind of artificial. Maybe some effects of bad conscience/karma could help here?

    Universal server time

    yeah right, lets just do everthing like in the mod... what could possibly go wrong, right? I don't like this idea, because it will open the door for large scale server hopping, wich was (anyone remembers?) one major problem in the mod aswell. I really like the idea of a locked universal time combined with a sligtly faster or slower elapsing of time, so that the borders of day and night differs every real day passed. I think it's just fair to everyone and don't benefit a specific group of players.

    Oh you can't be serious that would DESTROY the entire game. First thing is that the overall day/night-Cycle is shorter than 16 Hours (less than 2/3 of normal value) this can by no means be called realistic anymore. Second thing is.. 4 hours day and only 30 Minutes Night? Really? How do you calculate that out? But i'm on your side about addressing server hoppers and i think the best way to do that is to unify the time on every public server. (no different timezones) And i'm on your side when you say that it's unfair when some people always can play at night and some always can play at day, i think the best way to solve this problem is just to reduce the overall day/night-cycle only by 2-5 hours, so the effective border between day and night is related to real time alternating every real day, so the day/night-cycle is still realistic enough and every player world-wide has a fair chance to be able to play on day and on night. I think that's the best trade-off, what do you think about that?

    No i won't be happy with this kind of crap, how can this called be realistic if the day/night cycle have to skip this much time? This 3 hour cycle means that the time has to progress 8 times faster! Movement of sun, moon and stars would be nearly more scary than the zombies^^. Also it's unrealistic that the night is always shorter than the day. I keep on to the idea that day/night-Cycle only should be slightly reduced to shift the border between day and night on the server after every real day (so everyone can experience day AND night). Also i don't like to have servers with different timezones, because this will benefit server hoppers too much in my oppinion.

    I love the game in its daily patches alot but why is regenerating naturally removed from the game isn't it realistic to recover over time?

    i would like to see, that the day/night border alternates from day to day (on all servers simultanously would be best) this could easily be done when the in-game time elapses a bit faster (not much, lets say 18 hour days instead of 24 hour days) i think that could be a good trad-off, what do you think?
  23. I was in a small village directly where i spawned.. i think somewhere near Kamenka at night and when i entered the first building and someone was already there first i thought he were a zombie but suddenly that motherfucker raises a weapon and killed me with 2 shots.

    Ok first of all Dayz SA is definately NOT a mod... so as soon as we are clear on that you can get back to your little arma mod and make the plays as you please :) oh and considering "hackers": I have a enough trust in BI and Rocket that they will mop up the ground with that kind of scum if they get in the way ;)

    Hi everyone, i followed this thread and i have 2 opinions on this: 1. Modding dayz should be encouraged and creating private hives should be a part of that (don't forget dayz itself starts as a mod). 2. The true reason i think that private hives were destroying the mod was that it wasn't even possible to destinguish public and private hives at the end, so i think that all private hives in dayz shouldn't ever be listed in the official serverlist (so you have to connect remotely) and there should be no possible way that a private hive can influence other hives plus Rocket shouldn't develop for private hives, so when someone wants to start their own hive (or mod) of dayz SA they should really work for it (modding the serverfiles by themselves) and they shouldn't get any quick solution presented by Dayz SA devs out of the box.
