    BANDIT? SURVIVOR? BAH

Super Meat Boy - Suicide if you take ANY damage. You MUST STAY AT 12,000 BLOOD AT ALL TIMES. Bonus points: Have someone with you who has no idea why you're doing it. Broadcast Super Meat Boy music if they ask. Double points if they realize what the music meant. Team Valve - Team of in full character Gordon Freeman, Alyx Vance, Isaac Kleiner, Barney Calhoun and Adrian Shepard. Gordon: Armed with Crowbar and MP5 Alyx: Armed with G17 Isaac: Armed with SCIENCE! (Medic) Barney: Armed with Assault Rifles Adrian Shepard: Armed with Grenade Launcher Team stays in character. Gordon and Adrian never speak. Barney keeps cracking jokes about old times at Black Mesa. Alyx shouts "GORDON!" if Gordon is in trouble. Isaac keeps whining about losing Lamarr and wonders where the headcrabs are. Adrian acts more brutal, Gordon acts more calculating. Bonus points if someone starts laughing hysterically overhearing it.
  3. I have an answer. If DayZ is a Zombie Apocalypse Simulator, then the DayZ forums are an Afterlife simulator. In real life, what would the dead say if they could speak? "MAN DAMMIT THIS SUCKS THIS ISNT FAIR WHAT DO YOU MEAN I LOST EVERYTHING. HEART ATTACK? WTF! THOSE SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM REALITY"

Why people complain so much about killing?

    Maybe, maybe not.
  5. Max Railgrave

    Why are people still complaining?

DayZ can simulate the feeling of a life flashing before one's eyes. How they react to it is possibly an indicator of what kind of person they are. Maybe.

Why people complain so much about killing?

I played for 30 hours straight one day, found a Ghillie suit, AS50, and had full gear. I died to a zombie in a deer stand. Totally worth it. The magic of this game is when you've died so many times that it just doesn't faze you anymore. ;)

    Why are people still complaining?

Or they can't accept the reality of what has happened to them They're in denial

    Why are people still complaining?

Everything makes complete sense if you say "Day Z is a zombie apocalypse simulator. Day Z is not a 'game.'" The only difference between DayZ and reality is that if you die here, you don't die in real life. People would complain a lot if they could join an Internet forum after dying in real life. So, if DayZ is a zombie apocalypse simulator... ...the DayZ Forums are an Afterlife simulator. ;) :emptycan:
  9. Depends on if he wants the bean button on the forum, or beans in the game. :beans:

Weird how the game and Players turn you.....

Indeed, this interaction is the soul of the game to me as well.
  11. Hi Sickboy, I'm back - got a question for you (and actually I am more warmed to your Launcher now) How does your Launcher actually run the game? I mean...what command line (at its core) is being passed to ARMA2OA.exe to create the DayZ result you're obtaining? There's so many conflicting ways to get DayZ working manually...copying beta exe's, running as non steam shortcuts, modifying the .cmd files, using -beta to launch DayZ instead of -mod ......... but you and DayZCommander seem to have it down to a science. Specifically, your programs are the only ones I've seen which result in a perfectly working DayZ that: - Has no ARMA2 logo in the lower left corner of the main menu, only Arrowhead's - Has no duplicate copy of Arma 2 in the Expansions list - Has @DayZ as the LAST entry in the Expansions / mod list, which is logically where it should be. Please, could you tell me what you're doing to make it launch like that? I'd love to know!

    Friendly Server (anti bandit)

There's no such thing as an anti-bandit server. You're better off hanging out in IRC channels or joining a cooperative clan.
  13. Oh. Yeah, I doubt Rocket is going to do that...
  14. Not to mention families connecting behind a router.
  15. Bower, are we really only allowed one character? I can't find the rule sheet anywhere which states this.
  16. Hi Escher77, check my latest edits - it looks like we aren't keeping up with each other's edits =) Sorry, I think we're synchronized now. I support your idea of having multiple characters (one online at once) so you can switch to characters in different places to reach your friends faster.
  17. Techniques, this is not "paying $30 to have extra lives." The "extra lives" are separate lives. It's not like Escher77 is asking to be able to pay $30 to keep his stuff after death. Those "other lives" would have their own equipment, location, health, etc. They all have to be played with many hours in order to get that equipment, and they're just as vulnerable as anybody else. Escher77, I understand it this way: You are saying you want to have multiple accounts so that you can place them in strategic areas around Chernarus, so that you can save time getting to where your friends are when they log in. That is a great idea, and I support your request. Hopefully we can get an official response from the devs on this - on both of our ideas.
  18. Are you asking how to change your ARMA2 CD key/player ID? I don't know how to change ID. I think some people on the forums were talking about registry modifications (search around). If you're asking about running both accounts simultaneously on multiple computers, I don't know if Rocket allows that. I personally want to buy a second copy of ARMA2:CO and use account 2 for various purposes, but I'm not doing it without Rocket's blessing. A second character will have many disadvantages. Thirst and hunger continue to go into the red, regardless of whether or not they are actually logged in. It's nearly impossible to perfectly control both characters at once, which means one of them would have to be stationary (and therefore, a target). Your attention will be divided, which is lethal in this game.
  19. I am turned off from Six Launcher by that it requires UAC admin elevation every time I start it. I know that some might say "well then just turn UAC off" but I won't sacrifice my security for convenience (see link below for why). Knowing that modifying anything in Program Files always requires admin rights, I put my Steam directory in D:\Steam so that it wouldn't prompt me when installing TF2 skins and such. That I have to grant administrator rights to a launcher program is ridiculous. It might make sense to ask before performing an update operation, but not every single time I start it. Do I even need this program? I have no trouble installing DayZ and ARMA2Beta updates manually, and I create shortcuts with my command line options. I find servers through the ARMA2 ingame interface. http://www.beyondtrust.com/News-and-Events/Press-Releases/2009/New-Report-Shows-92-Percent-of-Critical-Microsoft-Vulnerabilities-are-Mitigated-by-Eliminating-Admin-Rights

    Incentives to Cooperative Play

IMO, DayZ is not a game ideal for making new friends via the Internet. It is, however, a fantastic game to play with friends and family you already have. However, the rare internet friend you DO make in DayZ is likely to be a comrade for a while.

    Death from being Offline

Your character will respawn with their food and water meters at critical. Make sure you have plenty of food and water available for your character to consume immediately after logging back in.

    Sex change

At the moment, male-female changing is allowed anytime you log in to a server after being dead. You may need to change player profile to get it to happen. Rocket said he intends on fixing it and making it permanent at some point.

    Barbwire really?

Eh, I don't 'camp' those per se im just wandering normally, but what do we do when all the northern shit gets wired too? :/ Also, people are doubling barbed wire to prevent vaulting.
  24. Max Railgrave

    Barbwire really?

I'm finding barbed wire in extremely strange places, including houses. They are in the same location on multiple servers and in the same configurations. Server hopping does not help. It appears that someone is making an effort to do this to many servers. It is extremely easy for a single person with a toolbox and a lot of wire to deny access to a single building on multiple servers very quickly, to say nothing of what a hacker who spawns things is capable of. Again, I'm finding the most barbed wire around industrial areas where toolboxes spawn, making it very difficult to remove barbed wire at all -- except for maybe hackers, or people who already have toolboxes.
  25. Max Railgrave

    Barbwire really?

The biggest issue is that people are heavily barbed wiring industrial facilities where toolboxes spawn, therefore denying players the ability to get toolboxes to remove them. People are using barbed wire to make it harder to remove barbed wire. If barbed wire is not removed, then toolbox spawn rates could be jacked up (although this will probably cause people to barbed-wire every single enterable building). The only defense at that point is to give players toolboxes from the start of the game. Which is also ridiculous. I'm also in favor of removing barbed wire ASAP.
