2013 - "early access alpha" 2016 - "early access alpha" Step 1. Make a broken game Step 2. Tell everyone it's still in "Alpha" Step 3. Receive complaints about game Step 4. Repeat step 2 Step 5. Profit

Also, this is whats wrong with the DayZ community. You've got on these rose coloured glasses and are buckled into the band wagon so tightly, the blood isn't circulating well enough to your brain. Hows that dev road map btw? lel

    DayZ expected release date

No, I'm saying I'd rather them start from scratch and do it right then continue on with the pipe dream that the current game has become. And exactly, 2 and half years and we aren't out of alpha yet. We don't even have working zombies yet... in DayZ. Should just be called DayH for hats. (And my 300 hours we're put in the first 6 months or so. I uninstalled it after that and just told myself to wait for 1.0...)

Wonder how much they pay you to be a yes man. Because I don't know how else you can earn a living... assuming you have also put 3000 hours in this pre-game.

    DayZ expected release date

3000 hours? So you want me to put 125 days of game time in. Are you nuts? You must be like unemployed, single, and poor. No. I get a voice because I purchased this game in early access. Early access meaning that the game will be finished... this decade.

Just checking in at the halfway mark. How are we looking?

    DayZ expected release date

Listen, devs. At this point, I wouldn't even be mad if you guys decided to scrap it and start over from scratch. I got like 300 or so hours since December 16th 2013. I got my money's worth of fun. Hell, I'd even pay a good $15 CAD again just to have a good alpha build of said hypothetical new game. The way it was supposed to be. Working zeds with hordes etc.

I honestly think, and can't blame them, the devs are getting tired of DayZ. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I know I would be if I was in their shoes. Like... Its been probably 4 years since the start of early development, or at least coming up on 4... dealing with the weird development cycle of this game, (having artists pumping out graphics, textures and modellers pumping out equipment before the core engine and game mechanics are 100% done and polished.), dealing with a frustrated community (including myself) with no telling how much longer to go... Then the project lead dips because "reasons"... At this point, we're too far in for a fresh start and people have paid too much money for early access so you feel obligated to finish it... I'd be frustrated and counting the days till I can rid my hands of this game if I was a developer.

    Bayonets?

One thing at a time... Let them focus on zombies first. I think we're over due in that department.

    Is DayZ a disappointment?

The poll would be more in the other direction if the forums didn't die and have to be duct taped back together. All the people who do think it is a disappointment didn't bother coming back after that happened. All the people who don't, did come back. Except me. 2 and a half years almost... and this is what we got. But a part of me hasn't given up hope.

    Looking for Unit487 Recruits

    Only 20 players? Meh.
  17. Or at least that would have been a great starting point haha. Specifically performance and working zombies.

    New Renderer

Been saying the same thing. And there are still blind optimists yelling at us from the band wagon saying "You aren't patient enough" or "I'm happy with it, why aren't you?". I love BI. Arma 3 is a masterpiece and I can't wait for the 3D editor and Tanoa. But I think they have gotten themselves in a bit of a curfuffle with this game. There doesn't seem to be any direction with DayZ. They are working on 30 types of hats and 44 ways to commit ritual seppuku with garden tools but aren't focusing on performance (network and engine), and core features in a zombie survival game... Namely, the motha-fluffin zombies? Come on, people! Focus!

    Dayz Reviews on Steam

This whole "buying a game on the pre-tense that it will be finished eventually" thing and being accused that my criticisms of the progress of said game are non-factual by a member of the forum team JUST BECAUSE its not blind optimistic, positive reinforcement is hilarious. Here's the deal, ok? Kerbal Space Program took 14 people 4 years to make, start to 1.0 release. It was released under the "early access" model. DayZ according to http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/page/7has been a thing for at least 3 with a team has to be upwards of 50 people. If this time next year comes, and we have a 1.0 release of DayZ, I will quote myself in a forum post titled "This is me, eating my words." If not, you bet your rear end I'm gonna be on here saying I told you so.

    Dayz Reviews on Steam

I won't reiterate myself here. Read my steam review. Figure this is the perfect thread... http://store.steampowered.com/recommended/recommendgame/221100 Spoiler alert: Its not filled with fluffy, happy-go-lucky optimism and rainbow farts.

    Dayz Reviews on Steam

Yes... because a person on the DayZ forum team would criticize DayZ publically. Let me ask you this: If this game WASN'T the phenomenon that is DayZ, if it was a completely new game released in the current state that we find DayZ in right now with the myriad of issues with game performance, server performance, bugs, lack of genre content (zombies), would we be having this conversation right now? I mean, this is a zombie survival game that barely has zombies! That would be akin to a flight sim having no planes. These people bought DayZ and have every right to express their displeasure with it. "or you can use facts." is an absolutely ridiculous response.
  22. The game just under performs. I am able to run Arma 3 on ultra with a 3 km draw distance and get 60 fps. Here, it chugs along around 30. And that drops to 20 or below in the bigger cities. Also, a bit of a side note but, night time that isn't a grey scale would be nice. When the sun goes down, the world isn't plunged into 1950s television. Colour exists. Anyways, back on topic. The servers are also wonky. You'll have trouble picking stuff up, have stuff disappear from your inventory, die randomly, receive damage 5 seconds or more after the fact, managing and interacting with inventory is delayed... I can go on. THAT type of stuff. The basics. Instead of adding in 30 hats and the ability to commit seppuku on a freaking pitch fork, how about 1. we get this game to a state that is commercially acceptable and 2. we get zombies to a state that is commercially acceptable. I mean thank god we have this. A great helm. And a flanged mace. Brilliant.

    Hey new to the game

The game isn't optimized at all. I have a GTX970 and it doesn't run well on the highest settings. The devs need to call up their brothers working on Arma 3 and figure out how I can get 60 fps with a 3 kilometre draw distance on ultra on Altis but not over here. The games are roughly the same age. So, keep that in mind. The game, as everyone on here will tell you, is in alpha and that means its constantly being worked on.
