I went back to playing the mod and WOW... you can't beat the feeling. Is it wrong to get nostalgia from something that is only like 2 years old? I don't get the same enjoyment from the Standalone in its current state. It doesn't have the same atmosphere and it doesn't completely fill me with stress and anxiety. I mean the standalone is fun, but the mod still holds it own against it. By a long shot... What is it missing?

I asked a buddy who plays PS4 if he's excited for DayZ and he went, "What's that?".

Its cause by the east coast spawn. No one makes it to any of the classic dayz cities. No one is fighting in Elektro, there aren't pesky geared snipers in Cherno any more, Kamenka would be a nice place to spawn now because of the market and the new military base. I really hope they switch the spawns back to how they used to be and leave the new northern sector for people who make it that far up.

This is the earliest video I could find. April 27 2012. Two weeks after DayZ mod launched. If you read side chat, and listen to the guy's story, you will see that even this early on KoS was rampant. Ever think that it is Human nature in a situation like this? Trust, by definition, is dependence on another person. One person is WILLINGLY relying on another person's actions... Which is completely stupid and naive. If I have stuff to lose, you can bet I'll shoot you if you are within range. The Anti-KoS people can deny all they want, but I highly doubt that: 1. They are completely 100% innocent 2. When the shit hits the fan in a survival situation, (like war, an epidemic, or even a zombie outbreak), I highly doubt they are going to be running through towns yelling "Friendly?", running up on people asking to team up.

...that Dean was saying helicopters shouldn't be in DayZ. I mean, it is his game (at least until the end of the year) and he can push it in any particular direction, but what would DayZ be with out helicopters? They are the end game. They create perilous parts runs around the map in vehicles, which have cause some of the most awesome DayZ moments I have ever experienced. And, when you do get it up in the air, that feeling of power is pretty damn addicting haha. Conclusion: I really hope that this is just a rumour and not the truth.

Whatever happened to Utes? It was mentioned and shown in one of the early devblogs south of Skalisty Island. I thought it was a brilliant idea, making Skalisty an awesome choke point for people who don't have access to future boats.

Its actually .223... and the reason why the 5.56mm or any of the rifle rounds do damage is the SPEED of the bullet not the mass. F = m x a. You wanna keep the bullet light so you can get a greater acceleration with less gunpowder. The .22LR is just a tiny bullet with a tiny gunpowder amount. I'm no expert but I have fired one and its comparable to firing a paintball gun, recoil wise haha. It just doesn't have the stopping power to drop someone with chest shots. But, if you were to put a .22LR bullet in a massive artillery shell somehow and fired it. It could decimate someone. It all comes down to Force = Mass x Acceleration. Hypothetical future rail guns could launch a 1kg round at like 1 percent the speed of light. The resulting explosion would be equal to the bomb dropped on Hiroshima... Issac Newton is one scary ass mofo.

Nah, from my experience (since july 2012) in the mod, and my time spent in DayZero... The mod was fine early on but now it has very little legitimate players left. The mod is rife with ESP map hackers because there is no way of defeating that hack. So they will always know where you are, where all the vehicles are, and where all the zombies are. So you'll find them helicoptering around scooping all the vehicles and crash sites. Which of course leads to them hunting everyone else down... Its not very fun.

Playing fair on the mod is putting yourself at a massive disadvantage... But if you're into that sort of thing...

Switch to the standalone. The mod is all ESP hackers and bored admins looking for combat.
