If you want to know where to find the loot, check out this map http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus#5.058.055 It gives all places of interest and what you can possibly find there. It is only a guide. Not all of the items will be found but depend on the last server restart and the randomness of the spawned items.

Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]
The_Amigo replied to Blade4777980's topic in General Discussion
Well, here is my two pence worth. This game in my opinion is probably worth buying. There are a lot of game designers out there who have discovered the potential of the Dayz idea and at present copying the principles of it, Sony included. Rocket had to put this game into early (Alpha)release because lets face it, it costs a lot of money to design a game and even his pockets weren't bottomless, he need backing, help and finance. I followed Dayz development blogs , videos, everything I could find when I heard it was coming out as a standalone. Release dates were never stated because the game wasn't ready. Then one Christmas which seems ages ago... BAM, released on steam. Brought it, played it and started to love it. Now saying that there are a lot of problems. I work in IT and know that any update has to go on a development server first for the coding to be written. Once the coding has been done and is approved it then gets moved to a test server. I then have to test and even try to break it. Then once I am happy with the update I approve it and it goes into production. Here is my beef. It seams that every time we get an update for Dayz, we take 5 steps forward but 2 or 3 steps back. Meaning, they fix issues and put new things in the game but end up breaking something that was already fixed in a previous update. In patch .49 patch we have the return of invisible zombies, people trapped in or under buildings, Blank video screens (have to press configure, video and close) to see the screen properly, and many more that we saw fixed previously. May I suggest these updates have a really good testing before they are released and not rushed out to try and appease players because we have not seen an update for sometime. -
Well guys, thanks for all the suggestions and I eventually managed to get un-stuck from the glitch . One of my m8's came over and was going to take all of my stuff and then kill me.... HOWEVER, he didn't have to. He could see that I was stuck but when I dropped my pack back for him to pick up I was able to move again. Really weird this one. It was like I was too heavy and just stuck in the ponds bottom / mud. So guys if you every get stuck in a glitch try dropping stuff to see if it will free you.

Thanks for the suggestions guys but looks like the only way out of this is to get one of my mates to kill me. It's really weird one though. It's like being sucked down into quicksand only for your character to bob up and start to sink again. I can change my stance from standing, crouch and go prone then stand up again with the same sinking effect in any stance even to the point of sinking below the ponds bottom surface when prone. The bottom part of my character when standing just can't move at all. I can't walk forward, back, left or right, I can't turn left or right. Can't vault or step over but all other of my other movements work for the top half of my body. I can change weapons, look all around and access backpack. When I bring out a weapon I have just a little movement with left/right mouse control. Just looks like I'm going to have to give up this character and die a survivors death.

Please help. Whilst getting water from the pond, my character has got stuck in the map. I can not kill myself or re spawn and I'm just stuck there. It is just stuck there in the reeds bobbing up an down. I have attached screenshots of the area in the north (new town with no name on map yet) and of my stuck character. Until glitch is resolved I can not play this character and will have to create a new one in hard core mode.

The Amigo here. The translation means " The Friend ". Hate bandits and will help new spawns where ever I can. Probably one of the oldest players playing Dayz here... An ex soldier and 56 years young but been playing fps games for a long time now. Used to play a lot of Call of Duty and Left 4 Dead in the past in a clan. Been waiting a whole year for this game to come out and really enjoying it since it's launch just before Christmas. I have no problems running the game as I have a very high spec gaming rig so most settings turned up full and also have a brilliant internet connection due to BT fibre optics. Love the way this game is going but really need a quad bike to get around. My poor old legs can't take all this running, Have to carry a defibulator just in case my heart gives out.... lol. So if you see a someone on the battlefield, say hello first before you blow their face off, they might be friendly too.

Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557

I agree with what most people have been saying. It states quite clearly before you buy the game that it is an early alpha and not to buy unless you are prepared to put up with the issues associated with an early alpha access. It also states when you log in that there are issues and fixes are forthcoming so be patient. This game was meant to be released Christmas 2012 but wasn't ready to compete with that so called rip off game of Warz which was a pile of crap. I've waited a whole year and followed all blogs / videos to see the progress of this game. Yes I was a bit disappointed in what was released. I thought with a whole year that Dean would have been further ahead than the released version but these things time and money to get right. With over a million copies now sold the development team have the funds and backing to get things sorted out. I too get fed of glitches like when joining a server and you fail to join correctly. You come out and join another server only to find you have lost all of your stuff and have to start again. You run miles to the nearest town. Start collecting things again only for a noob to kill you and having to spawn and start over again. So all I would say is be patient guys, patches have to be tried and tested before they get implemented or you end up with more problems. -
This happens quite a lot when you are server jumping to either find a day server or a night one. I have found that when you jump into a server it is sometimes better to wait around 2 minutes or wait for the RED chain connection to disappear. Usually if you jump out of a server and the RED chain connection is showing up, when you jump this can cause you to lose everything. Well this is what has happened to me a few times until I figured it out..!!! Hope this helps.

When you leave a server and re-spawn in a new server. Your character should be exactly the same and with all of the equipment you had in exactly the same point on the map.... However, occasionally you re-spawn at the beach with nothing. This is a glitch that happens every now and then. Simply close the game down completely and then restart it. You should re-spawn with everything back.

Either find a permanent day server (there are plenty of them), or find a gas bottle and a gas lamp and join them together. These are at least 10 times brighter and illuminate a large area than the normal torch you spawn with. HOWEVER.... you can be seen easily by bandits and zombies alike.

I recently reported that a friend was knocked on conscious. Whilst lying on the floor unconscious, his body just decided to slide across the map. around rocks and trees, through buildings etc. Well this happened to me today after a zombie attack. Eventually I came to a stop wedged between two trees. I was able to access my backpack, drink and eat etc. I could not re-spawn as that option was not available. However, Here is a tip, wait if you want to keep all of your equipment you have gathered. When the server eventually reboots and you lose connection, you'll get the warning come up. When you eventually get auto kicked and you join another server. You will re-spawn alive with all of the equipment you had when knocked unconscious. Unfortunately this can take anything from 5 minutes or a lot longer depending on the re-spawn time of the server and whatever the time was in this period when you joined. Hope this helps.

Two of us were working together. Unfortunately my friend went unconscious. His body, even though he was unconscious started to slide across the terrain. Going through houses and up and down hills. He had a gas lamp on his back so was able to track him. Very funny to watch though.
