Will we be able to play Russian Roulette with the new Magnum .357?
James MacDonald replied to mikie_2662's topic in General Discussion
Add russian roulette to play with friends, or force a captured player to play it against you or other captives. And as all the others said, who the fuck plays russian roulette with themselves? -
DayZ standalone should take note from Arma 3 Breaking Point

True indeed, sometimes they walk around you in a circle and exit the building again for no apparent reason even if you're standing still. -
Keep it Hard....... a thoughtful request.

Check this out, the food/drink system isn't that complicated. It just seems that way at first. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154794-read-this-the-truth-on-the-hungerthirst-issue/ -

You do know how the food/drink system works right? http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154794-read-this-the-truth-on-the-hungerthirst-issue/ -

To begin with I'd like to give you some beans. I agree with what you're saying, too many games are dumbed down and way to easy. Spawn in, walk here, 10 min later full gear. This causes a lot of people to turn to the cod style gameplay, as death has no severe repercussions and honestly its not much else to do after such a short period of time. Personally I don't like to go hunt players, or play cod style. Its not why I bought this game, then I would go play cod or bf. I much rather prefer the survival aspect of the game, even if that means looking for food when I already have a years worth of it in my pack. I'm not at all saying PvP should not be a part of the game, and I really do enjoy the occasional firefight with other survivors. The game just wouldn't be the same without. The problem here is the scale of which it is at, at the moment. Going player hunting just to kill people for no other reason then to ruin their fun is a douche move, which I don't agree with at all. However, killing a player due to fear, needing their loot, self defense and so on I'm fine with (Personally I only kill in self defense). There are way to many people just killing to kill, leaving all loot behind, be it on the ground or on the corpse. This game should in no way be dumbed down or made easy, it will ruin it for everyone apart from the cod kids. The harder the mod is, the more fun it is, less KoS (it'll never stop completely, and you gotta accept that), more attention to the survival aspect of the game (coop or solo), and so on. The thing I really would want to see happen, is the reduction of high end military grade weapons. For pretty much the same reasons as you stated. They'd likely would have taken most of them with them as they left, but most importantly everyone wouldn't be walking around looking like they'd just stepped out of a gun shop with their assault rifles and their desert eagles in full body armor. It should be more focused on more civilian style weaponry such as small firearms, hunting rifles etc. As for the timezone part, I like the real-time day/night cycle and don't think it should ever be changed. I hated 24/7 daylight servers which was pretty much the only thing out there for private servers in the mod. They should simply add the time of day in the server browser, stating if its night or day and you could choose accordingly. You should be able to find a server with relatively low ping which have day or night regardless of what time it is at your location. Maybe you would have to go 20 ping higher than usual, but that shouldn't be a problem. I'm sure a lot of you like 24/7 daylight and I've got no problems with that, the problem was when every private server started having 24/7 daylight. Not being able to see it in the name of the server, or in the browser itself made it a horrible effort trying to find a server with the real-time time cycle. Which is one of the many reason I quit playing the mod a while back. -
I don't think your suggestion about selective spawns should be implemented, the side effects outweighs the benefits. Sure sometimes you may have to walk for quite some time when you die, but that is as it should be. If both are fresh spawns and want to play together, spawn in, find a spot pretty much in the middle of where you two are and meet up. It reduces the distance by 50%. Unless you stop at every location you find, meeting up does not take so long. Sure you might be really unlucky and have one spawn in Kamenka and the other in Berezino, but odds are that will not happen.

Would be cool, but if it has a high chance of jamming my weapon it would be too risky and I'd just keep it plain.

I'd love to see the winchester make its return. I loved that gun in the mod.

Did you implement a fix for server hopping? If so, awesome!
James MacDonald replied to jcrose803's topic in General Discussion
If the server hoppers and the cod kids lose interest fast I would be thrilled, I don't see a problem with that : ) -
Call in a supply drop from Green Mountain Radio.

Thats a matter of preference. It might have taken over for you and others, but me for one didn't like AI in Dayz. People just farmed the AI and stole their loot. -
I saw a 126 slot server once, and it was full.

Hive System - People are already server hopping
James MacDonald replied to mercules's topic in General Discussion
Server hoppers just don't know how to enjoy the game. It's more fun going around exploring, killing zombies, looting, teaming up... you know, actually playing the game. Hopping from server to server in the same room for hours must be boring as fuck, and it's their own loss. They're missing out. Even if they're hopping for loot to go play their call of duty at the airfield or major cities, they're still ruining this great game for themself, not realizing the potential of actually playing it as a survival game. They already own call of duty I'm sure, so why buy Dayz for call of duty purposes with the occasional annoying but harmless zombie. I will never know, nor will I ever understand why they bother doing it. ._. -
Please make spawns truly random.
James MacDonald replied to ThirdSinger's topic in General Discussion
I died and respawned, and i actually spawned quite a bit inland. Probably from a bug? There was no coast to be seen for many kilometers in any direction. I was completely disoriented and walked around, and eventually died of dehydration. It was awesome. I approve this suggestion, as I've lived it too. The beach get so boring eventually and everyone knows it as well as the inside of their pocket, as previously mention by others. However spawning in houses, and towns is not too good. It must be something like spawning outside / close to for example cherno or elektro, but never actually inside them. -
corpses dragging themselves along the ground glitch

Sounds like he turned into a zombie and crawled away. Consider yourself lucky! :p -
Keep crying! It's hilarious!

Did you not know? Rocket does all of this by himself! O_O Some people-.-'

I pretty much had some bad ass military jacket, pants, and vest with plenty room for stuff, 35 slot pack and an m4a1 with ammo, fire axe pistol, pistol holster. Plus a lot of random shit in my bag i cant remember. But I guess that all got wiped clean this patch? I haven't logged in since yesterday.

Don't know where you live tho, but I live norway and a bit away from the cities and streets lights and what not and I've got a forest right up to my lawn. When it's dark, its dark. You can't see shit unless you're in an open field. If you're in the forest, you are virtually blind. You can see some shapes of the trees, but thats it.

Anyone know what rope is used for?

I've found one server with daylight, rest has been full moon nights.

The battery might be dead even if it says pristine... my head mountain flashlight randomly died, and wouldn't turn back on so I swapped to a new battery and it works again just fine. The used up battery still said pristine.
-
Obviously not... : D
-
I envy that, I love it when its pitch black and all you can see outlines of houses and trees towards the sky. Walking around with a flashlight only seeing inside the light gives a more horrific and scary environment. It's especially fun and scary if you're playing with friends, one holds the flashlight and lights the path and the other one has the weapon and deals with any threats.

I've had about 15 friendly encounters so far and only one bad, I got attacked from behind while looting. One of said friendly encounters were the entire server spawned fresh in the same place, was rather funny. Like 30 people running towards Cherno (we spawned nearby), and I was the first to get a weapon and like a magnet vs magnet everyone kept their distance wherever I decided to go. I could've whacked them all easily as I found a fireaxe which is pretty brutal, but I'm as friendly as can be and never kill anyone unless its self defense.
