Wait, what? 4000 kilometres? That is like the distance between Canada and United Kingdom. I assume you meant 4 kilometres instead? How would a safe area even work? If you shoot someone, bot soldiers attack you? What happens if someone attacks me and I kill him in self defence? The bots kill ME? The bot soldiers would only mean free guns and ammo for players. Kill one, grab his gun and run/disconnect. Zombies moving from town to town wouldn't work with the current system that only spawns zombies when players are near the spawn point, and changing that would become too heavy for the server quickly.

AS50/M107 used against light armored infantry?
Timppa replied to Darkwater (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The OP doesn't want the damage to be nerfed, that doesn't mean the damage is not the reason for why some kind of a nerf is needed in the first place. (And the extreme damage is exactly what makes the .50 cals so overpowered). Now that you mention, I really wouldn't want try firing a .50 cal rifle (possibly indoors, which currently is possible, albeit unrealistic) with no hearing protection whatsoever. I cannot see an average person hitting a target with a 13-kg rifle while standing either. So I do agree with both of the points, since currently the .50 cal has no downside at all. The best way to nerf it is would probably be restricting it to prone position only by reducing the stability. -
AS50/M107 used against light armored infantry?

This is not about realism, this is about gameplay. Having insta-kill weapons is only bad for the gameplay, and making them more realistic is the best way to get rid of that problem. -
How can you even call this a game?
Timppa replied to HamTheBacon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oh, the irony in this post. An alpha that is a just a few months away from release? -
As long as YOU did not hack the item in, you won't be banned.

Probably just the fact they disabled respawning. Although I still believe a large amount of the deaths come from suicides done on purpose to get to a better start location.

Gave me warning for writing "k."

Why post in a topic if you won't contribute to it at all? If you simply agree with someone but have nothing to comment, that is what the beans button is for. -
Erm, what? The "hacker" killed you, not BattleEye.

Morhpine Emergency - How about a BRANCH!!! ?
Timppa replied to bionoman's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
And how are those features going to get implemented if we do not suggest them? ;) In my opinion this is a really good idea. All movement should be limited to walking until you can find morphine, though. Those who say it isn't realistic may be right, but it is still more realistic than the whole morphine thing. And it would help a lot with the situations where you have no morphine nearby. -
Auto Run Tutorial (No Items on Keyboard)

This is indeed very useful, I use it all the time. Thanks for sharing to those who do not know. -
1. Performance. There is no way a handheld console could run the game. They would have to remake the entire game without any trees or grass and sucky textures. 2. Tiny screen. Sniping and long range combat would become impossible, and it would be hard to fit all the menus and huds on the screen. 3. No mouse. It would be very difficult to hit anything without aim assist, which is no going to happen. 4. Not profitable. They would have to remake the entire game for the handheld console, but the amount of people who play handheld games is very small. 5. Slow tempo. Handheld games are meant to be something you can play for 15 minutes and then pause. They are also meant mainly for casual gamers. This is the exact opposite of Dayz.

Please, DONT add a bandit-indicator in this patch
Timppa replied to JulieMeyers's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well, I cannot see most people killing unarmed people with a sniper rifle 400 meters away just for fun, and then not even checking the corpse in a real apocalypse either. -
Need Medical Assistance? We can help.

On top of cherno hospital, 2900 blood left. I have blood bags with me, I need someone to administer them. Please add me on Steam if you are nearby and can help. -
I managed to find my friend after running around chernarus for hours. I minimized the game and took a look at the map to know where we should head next. I reopened the dayz window and clicked on it, but I didn't notice my crosshair was pointing right at the face of my friend. Well, it really took me some time to explain that. I looted his corpse and ran towards a nearby building. Then instant karma hit me: I opened the door and it crushed my legs. I had no morphine with me.

The game is in public alpha so the developers can get feedback. Instead, every single suggestion that asks the developers to change something seems to get comments like this. On-topic, I do agree. The zombies aren't a real threat because they are so easy to avoid, because you know where they are or aren't. And if one notices you, you can just outrun it.

only 50% of items lootable from corpse...

Most players kill you just to annoy you (or to prevent you from getting the first shot), they couldn't care less about the gear. -
Suggestion of using VAC ban for hackers.
Timppa replied to Fishypokey's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
As far as I know, VAC only works with Steam-only games, so it is not possible. The bans are tied to a steam account. And like mentioned, insta-bans work better with a game like this. -
It would be very easy to abuse this, though. You could, for example, use one character to play and a second character to safely store your valuables in case you die.

should there be regular resets on characters
Timppa replied to vanilladragon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How does reseting everything once a month solve the hacking problem? It is not like hackers cannot bother to hack their stuff back once a month. Legit players probably won't bother to get their stuff back, though. "Nobody lives for a month." Your idea was to reset everybody's stuff on a predetermined date. Lets say I die and there are 5 days until the monthly reset. Why would I bother to start a new character because I am going to lose my stuff in 5 days anyways? Hell, I would rather just dupe and hack my stuff back than waste days collecting them because some magical monthly reset just made me lose all my stuff. I seriously, seriously hope you are just trolling us. This idea has is pointless. I do not see how it could harm dupers or hackers, it would only harm legit players.
