It's possible that the battery was dead. More importantly, all flashlights have been broken for a long time. Sure, they show a sharply defined circle of "light," but that's not how light, or the human eye works at night. -

After the latest round of dead servers and lack of response from host....invisible zombies and zero loot (or invisible) or every server that I tried (6-7). Of course, I had just made the trip up to NWAF and there is nothing but invisible zombies to kill you. Other posts like this are showing up on reddit, as well. -
What are your thoughts on camping snipers at Balota?

Good for the snipers. If they are going to camp somewhere, Balota is a good spot for it. -

Keep in mind that the Arma engine takes very serious note of your character stance and activity. Lying prone, still and looking down the sights? Very accurate. Anything else is less so. Standing, moving, zoomed out? Not gonna hit a thing. EDIT: Also, Arma is based on every character being a trained rifleman. DayZ is full of survivors, not presumed to have previous training. They shouldn't be as skilled with a rifle. The M4/M16/AR15 is a very accurate platform. With that said, it's more accurate than the shooter is capable of. Just because the platform is capable does not mean that a stressed, out of breath, out of shape, hungry, thirsty, possibly ill person could use it well. -

I understand every part about this Alpha release. I also know that valid, genuine bug reporting should be sent to http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/forum/8-bug-reports/ Whining in these generic forums here isn't going to help anybody. I just signed up on these forums today after paying for Early Access. I've been playing the mod for more than a year. To the "you are not part of this community" guy: Guess what? In all honesty, Mr. Hall is far more likely to read random posts on Reddit than in this little forum. I see TWO new posts made since the SA was released. It seems that your little "community" isn't really helping alpha. Yes, just two new posts of bug reports. -
I wish that they would go ahead and let the hackers do it and track them. Catch them NOW and have their entire Steam account banned.

Throwing knives are silly. If you have ever actually practiced with one you would realize that: it's a difficult art to master. Also, they only work at specifed ranges of rotation for that knife. If your knife rotates 1-1/2 times at 15 feet, you need to do some very quick mental calculation about your range and which end you should throw from. Or should you alter your practiced throw by rushing or slowing it? (disaster) Every video game makes a thrown knife an instant hit/kill. BS. At best, an unskilled knife thrower has a 1 in 6 chance of making a blade even stick in a given target. At best. Is that a nick, a glancing blow, or a 6 inch deep puncture? If you had to throw a knife at a zombie, you're already dead.

Charging people money to help you "make" a game....

I bought this a few minutes ago through Steam. I know what state the Alpha is currently in. I bought it as an investment for myself. I know that I want to play a polished game, and I can save money by buying it right now. It's up to me whether I want to help test it. I do. I also did the same thing with The Dead Linger a year ago. -
Kind of odd, too. The real-world FNX has no magazine disconnect. You can load individual rounds and fire them.
