  1. Do you mean like jumping straight up and down like a normal mmo and not the hopping over things that v does?

Basically! Just as you can jump in real life. Can't believe i can't find this video on youtube. Dean was showing off people jumping over piles of trash. Maybe It was all a dream but i could have swore he even exclaimed "Yes, you will be able to jump in the standalone."

It was a video of him and maybe 4 other people sitting in the street wearing motorcycle helmets. It started off by showing the head movements and some early gestures. Then they went to show the looting of vehicles and Dean fixed his camera on a couple of people who jumped or more-so leaped over a pile of trash that was sitting in the street.

  2. why would you want to leave the ground in dayz with arma physics

That's the thing. In the video I watched it actually looked really smooth. The animation had the character lift off the ground, do a nice parabolic movement over the pile, lift his legs up to his knees as you would while jumping, extend them as he lands, then finally land. I was really impressed with the smoothness of the animation.

  3. I remember Pre-Alpha Dean released a video of him and others displaying simple mechanics of the game. Looting cars and buildings, looking under things, equipping helmets and jumping over a pile of trash.

What ever happened to this? Does anyone else remember this video? Points to whom ever can find it!

  4. I believe I have encountered an invisible zombie glitch once myself.

Although, if you were upstairs, it is also known that they can hit you through the ceiling below you.

First i was outside and started to get hit. I ran into a building and was on the first floor where i tried to attack it but no impact animations were seen and the attacking continued.

  5. I like .48  a lot. I'm excited to start some basic base building. I like being able to finally keep loot. What do you guys think about this?

Also, seems like i found a pretty important bug that could hamper things. Have other people encountered this? I want to know so i can understand if it was an isolated incident or not (this needs discussion please) I'm going to test it again later but if it happens again ill have to wait until its fixed before i can play more...

I got killed by an invisible zombie as i was looting a small town. I heard zombie noises around me and didnt think anything of it until i actually started to get hit. Couldn't see anything on my screen and when i swung at the air there was no impact animation and me being hit continued.

  6. Yup, just got killed by an invisible zombie. ill put this in the bug tracker as well but wanted you warn you all of the new skills zombies appear to have...

Remember that bug where we would hear zombie noises and nothing was around? Was happening to me today on a low pop server while i was looting a small town. Thought nothing of it until i got hit and started bleeding.

edit: not sure how to post a picture directly from my steam screen shots.

  7. I think there should be zombies. I think zombies would make a huge improvement to this game. Think about if you were looting the air field and a bunch of zombies started attacking you and you almost die from that. They could call it DayZ Zombie edition

  8. I have noticed it takes several tries sometimes before it responds, however ive never had to hit any button more then 2 or 3 times before it registers, and it rarely does it at all. How old is your keyboard? theres the chance that it could be going out and certain keys are breaking. Also, once we hit beta and better optimization comes it will make things much better.

I hope a ladder kills you

  9. Yeah, same reason i'm not playing SA either right now. It's pretty pointless. There's a game just like this right now that's a lot better and it's called battlefield 4.

I wouldn't hold my breath on more infected coming any time soon. My best guess is (hopefully) by the end of the year.

I would recommend trying Breaking Point. The zombies are slow and very dumb but they serve the purpose for what you just stated. You can't just sprint into town and run and grab. Takes a little bit of strategy and you don't want to stay in one spot too long as people will see the zombie hordes around you.

  10. So we've all learned a thing or two from our DayZ days and I thought it would be nice to share it with the community. Please avoid silly things such as "I've learned to shoot everyone and everything I see"

Okay so I'll go first! :3

A list of the few things I've learned:

      • Improved map-reading skills

      • Basics of the russian language

      • Some people only want what is best for themselves

      • Run away = Live to survive another day (wow that actually rhymed D:)

So that was that, feel free to share what you guys have learned from playing DayZ!

Edit: And I hope I posted this in the right section :s

Not to trust indie games anymore XD

  11. Hi Guys!

The thing about what i want to talk is diffrent way of shooting in mod and SA.

In mod when u shooting information about hits/shoots are going to server after bullet lands (no matter how laggy is server) so even if u have high ping you will hit your target just by proper shooting (like you will play in single).

In SA it's different. It's like after shoot, you are sending to server information that you actually shoot (gosh kill me for this english) and when server receive that msg the bullet starts. I don't know how it work when u got really low ping, but for me (70-100 ms) it's just broken for shooting at longer distance (300+). I tested it on high-population servers (30-40 players).

You can test it by yourself, stand 50-100m away from tree and try to shoot it (you need to know when bullets hits). You will see that delay between press fire and hit target is always different. I don't know if this is a server problem, or just my internet connection, but this is annoying for me (i'm "sniper" 90% of the game time). With this "problem" delay when i shoot from 300-400m is sometimes like shooting 800-900m in mod :(. I know that this delay is 0,5-1s but it's HUGE for longer distance.

Hopefully this is one of the things that will be fixed very shortly.

I've tested this many times. Shots from 100m+ seem to always have different times to impact. On a 40/40 server i've noticed the bullet takeing as long as 2.5-3 seconds before reaching the target only 100m away

  12. I would prefer nothing spawned there because why should it be there?

Who would leave hunting gear or even guns there? If it was outside a house perhaps but a random one on top of a hill...what kind of idiot would leave weapons there for anyone to find.

They should just make it have a higher chance to spot some deer around them, it's rather inelegant to just run around the forest until you see one realistically they'd hear you coming and probably be gone or leaving before you noticed them. Or if you walked...well that would just take too long.

So a higher deer and possibly other animal spawn rate would do, perhaps as a downside a higher wolf spawn rate too.

Gear wise at best, hats maybe. No hunter would leave without their gun, maybe they saw a zombie and just didn't take their hat.

Mostly because its a game imo.

  13. I agree, with the op, I really wish there was a way to be able to tell if someone was a hero or a bandit from the way they looked. The way the mod did it was perfect. I thought it made the game much more interesting, and in my opinion, is really the only solution to getting rid of the KoS mentality.

But it apparently "ruins immersion" because it isn't realistic that bandits would have a scarf around their head. But as others have said neither is running non-stop across the map or never needing to sleep.

Sometimes you need to add mechanics to the game because it makes it more fun and disregard a small portion of realism.

  14. No, its not dead. Quite many just returns when vehicles come or something what they want. Hunting is what I wanted, have been playing quite alot now.

Good point. Hopefully vehicles will make a change for the better. As in not flipping and blowing up my quad when going over small bumps like the mod.

As far as the "hunting" it seems pretty basic to me. I slapped a cow with a farming hoe, it died, and then i cut it up with a kitchen knife. Things like this worry me. (For those that don't understand, you can't kill a cow with a hoe nor slice it up with a kitchen knife.)

  15. My main concern is the zombies, this is a zombie game after all. I don't care how many buggy "features" they implement until the zombies are fixed...one or two bugged out zombies in a town is unacceptable. Is this game so limited by its engine that the zombies will never work? Or is there hope in that area?
