Trees, grass, bushes, all of these sway with the wind in the game. Have you noticed your breath in game? If the wind is strong it'll blow it away from your face instead of it typically floating about your face. Every time I have noticed the wind and compensated for it I have hit my target within 500m just about where I intended it to go. Either wind affects bullet trajectory, or I'm freaking crazy lucky with the random bullet placement. I think it's an improvement as frankly sniping was by far too easy in the mod and EVERYONE's endgame weapon of choice was a sniper of some kind, and I just found it outright boring due to the simplicity.

I agree 100% I'm all for a defib, but it should be part of a process. Other things also need to be added. 1. We need to be able to drag/carry bodies. 2. We need a diagnose victim option. This should let us check pulse, breathing, bleeding, and whether vital areas are destroyed. Head shots and if possible shots to the heart should be 100% fatal and non recoverable though I suppose telling if a round actually hit the heart would be more difficult to discern. 3. We then need to be able to perform functions such as cpr or rescue breathing. Life saving is not game breaking or op. If done properly it is immersive and intense. There also shouldn't be a set time for a flat failure rate. There should be a % chance for success that gradually goes down the longer the victim goes without treatment. The possibility of being able to rescue someone can also work in a sniper's favor. If you're sniping and you drop a guy, his buddies will likely feel urged to try and save him if they are able This will cause them to take more risks and expose themselves to your fire in an effort to save their friend. If they can't be revived, his friends will be solely focused on killing you and should they succeed, well, we all know their buddy is just gonna run straight there and get all his loot back anyway so boo f-ing hoo right? It also encourages teamwork which oh so many people complain there's not enough incentive for. Being a proper medic should require knowledge, guts, knowing when to act and when not too, and a vast assortment of tools.

Just gonna say that the Mosin performs quite accurately for me. I have noticed that wind is a much bigger factor in the stand alone, and judging by the movement of the tree tops the wind was blowing decently hard to your left. Imo it sent your first round not above his head head but just to the left of it, which is why all of your follow up shots also went left of the target, though firing while you still had scope wobble from chambering the next round certainly didn't help your cause either I think. I haven't really tried sniping players yet, but I've practiced plinking a number of zeds with it, and when I take the time to figure out the wind and distance I can usually get a 1 shot kill within 500m. Tried shooting beyond that once, was guesstimating like 700m, but I couldn't even see the bullet impact to compensate so I just gave up.

Lmg's certainly are much more common as essentially every fire-team typically has at least one. So I'd say it is extremely believable that you'd be able to find one eventually in a zombie apocalypse. I'd dare say it'd only be slighter harder to find than assault rifles, and a bit easier than DMR's.

I am not against adding anti-material rifles to the game eventually. That being said, they should be extremely rare, have finicky parts that need to be replaced often, ammo should be extremely hard to find, it should weigh you down, and occupy your backpack slot if you're not holding it in your hands. Given the setting of the game, the inclusion of US and other international weapons only really makes sense if the story from ArmA 2 is relevant to the lore of this game as I always imagined it has. If that's the case, a few American .50 cal sniper rifles would likely be in country and possible to find. Russians also have their own anti-material rifles and these should be more common though still extremely rare. They would be cool to find, and very powerful, but also incredibly impractical to use. Such items would likely be most effectively used by larger groups of players who would want a weapon effective at stopping vehicles from a distance as using a bullet on a player would just be a waste. A sole survivor or small group would have no need for it. Already in the game, the Mosin equipped with a long range scope is plenty accurate and powerful enough to serve as your go to anti-personal sniper rifle. And to say that the Mosin is not a military sniper rifle is a disgrace to it's heritage. It served admirably in WW2 in conditions that one could argue are much worse than the zombie apocalypse in Cherno. The same can be said of many "hunting" rifles. Many sniper rifles including today's started out hunting typical game, but have since been adopted to hunt the most dangerous game of all, man. When eventually implemented you'll have plenty of hunting and sniper rifles that should serve you just fine. If you truly are a good sniper, you'll be just as good with a Mosin as an AS50 when shooting at human targets.

By George I think he's got it!

I play this as roleplaying game. Currently I'm roleplaying a doctor, and since I'm pretty geared and able to easily take care of myself, I go on patrols near the coast looking for fresh spawns or people who need help. When I find some one, unless I can tell that they're obviously friendly, ie, some guys talking to each other over direct, asking each other questions or what not, I'll hold them up. I tell them to stay still, and put their hands up, and face away from me. If they comply and have some weapons I can see that could be a threat I then tell them that they can keep all their gear, but I don't trust them so I'm gonna cuff em for a sec or to drop their weapons on the ground and step away. After that's done I'll check their gear and see how they're doing. I ask if they need food or water or if they're sick and if they've seen anyone else around. I treat them and help them out, give some advice if they ask for it, uncuff em and tell them they can get their gear back and be on their merry way. If at any point they refuse to comply, I shoot them. It's quite fun, you see all kinds of crazy stuff. You meet some cool people, and there's always plenty of idiots willing to charge my party of armed and fully geared do-gooders with a fire extinguisher, or get themselves into an unfavorable gun fight that they're doomed to loose, just cause. I get to shoot the occasional player, have fun roleplaying with people, and be a shining beacon of hope for the DayZ community, hell even got to solve a murder and put the perpetrator to justice. Been doing it for a couple days and haven't died yet. I know i will eventually but it's all good fun, and that's what DayZ is all about. Playing your way and having fun. And if that just so happens to be forcing people to surrender and then executing them, well good for you. I think it's freakin awesome that we can do that in the first place and even if I was the victim, it'd be an experience where I'd be like, "Wow that just freaking happened." I haven't been held up yet, but I would prolly go along with it for roleplay sake and since I think it's pretty cool.

I would think I'd keep my wallet with my ID and all the pictures I have in it after a zombie apocalypse. It's not like it takes up much space, just a back pocket that I never for anything else. I'd prolly dump out all my credit cards and other pointless crap in there, but Driver's license I'd think I'd hold onto. It's just a simple little card but it tells a lot about you. How you looked before it all started, when you were born, where you were from, if you were an organ donor, not to mention your name. That kind of stuff holds an emotional and mental value especially after the world's gone to hell. Helps remind you who you are and that you're human and what life used to be like. As for game mechanics, I figure if you find a dead body a simple inspect body option along with check pulse, etc. should be available, and if you inspect them some flavor text about finding a wallet and ID can pop up and tell you their name along with whatever else may be pertinent. No used inventory slot, you get a bit of immersion, and you get to find out who's dead body it is.
