I realize this issue is entirely my fault, but I somehow managed to drink disinfectant when trying to sterilize some rags...now I'm vomiting everywhere and am currently unconscious (which is understandable) My question is why is this in the game? Any adult knows better than to take a swig of chemical cocktail...lol. I hope my character doesn't die from this...finally got him all stocked up :(

Good work! You guys are blazing out patches. That being said, when will zombies lose their super senses and spectral pathing?

Ok i get it.. its alpha.. but this is worse than the mod.

You realize most of the development time leading up to this point has been behind the scenes stuff right? From my understanding, the DayZ team basically reworked the entire server-side architecture to allow for more efficient use of server resources, allowing them to do more with the game. People who wanted a new map probably don't realize how much work it takes to create a good looking, playable map on the scale of Chenarus. It's a lot of work. Add in the new animations, new health systems, and all the coding/animating/modelling required for stuff like handcuffs, items, clothing, and buildings, they have done a lot in a year. Doesn't make the alpha amazing and perfect, but I am having a lot of fun and prefer this to the mod already. -
Damn, I get 20-40 usually, with everything on normal, with Ambient Occlusion and all that disabled. hrm.

I was killed by pasta once. Just walking along, oh hey, some food! *drags it into inventory*' *you are dead*

How does rig one work for you? I have the same setup, except with only one 290, and my PC struggles with the mod. The recommended FPS boosters kinda worked, but not by a huge margin.

My biggest issue with the zombies is the fact that they either see you or they don't, it's very inconsistent. Sometimes I can walk right past one and not aggro it, and other times I am proned, scouting a town from a distance, and out of nowhere I see four zombies start sprinting at me from at least 250m away...at night, haha. And good luck shaking them as well, they never seem to de-aggro. I can deal with clipping as long as the auto-lock super zombies become more predictable.

It started with a bottle of disinfectant...

Yeah it's brutal. Hoping some friends can find some charcoal for me before I get home from work haha -
I don't see how accidentally tapping a key is Darwin Award material, but okay. The point I guess I'm making is, why put something in the game that literally nobody over the age of 6 would ever do?
-
Haha, I don't wanna die! I'm gonna see if a friend who logged near where I passed out can salvage this. And I accidentally drank it by putting it in my hands and brushing my F key. I wanted to see if I could spray my wounds or if I could only use it on bandages :C

I just kept the RAM and Processor launch parameters, I don't think the game supports the 4gb of VRAM my card has, I'll need to take a look -- did see a small increase in frames though, thanks!

Tried the steam launch settings, made everything black.

The main thing that sucks right now: The FPS
Euryalus replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I did see this thread, and currently I think the game can only see half of my gpu memory, and probably isn't using all my cores either if I am understanding that thread properly. I will definitely give it a shot when I get home! -

Well eyes aren't cameras, we don't see by blinking 25 times per second and processing those still images into motion. It's definitely noticeable compared to the higher frames I see in more demanding games, but no, it's not unplayable by any means -- just kinda distracting. -
...does the respawn button in the menu only work for me?

Loot system is not final, Rocket said he wants a system that maintains an arbitrary number of items/zombies in the server, and when someone picks up and item or kills a zombie, the server looks for an appropriate place to place new loot. Also, remember that loot isn't in big obvious piles. You need to check cupboards, under beds, on top of dressers. It took me awhile to get used to the new locations but it's not too bad if you go off the beaten path a bit.

FPS is kind of an issue, my rig is certainly a brute (fx-8350, R9 290 OC'd), and yet I average like ~25 fps with everything on normal, AA off and post processing off. I realize alpha and all, but can still be suckish in cities. -
Can't take a screenshot at work, but I'm packing an M4 with a few mods (mainly a carrying handle, and new foregrip/barrel shroud/whatever), ballistic helm, black t-shirt, grey cargo pants, a hiking backpack and a chest holster...looks pretty cool, dunno what good the holster is though haha

Hmm, my first character I met up with a friend, and while we were exploring I met another player that I didn't know. We both declared ourselves friendly, and I hit F1 to do a little wave. He asked how to do that, so I showed him how to wave, and sit down to rest. While I was resting he naturally ran up to me and beat me unconscious, haha. Fortunately he didn't know my friend was nearby so he was quickly dispatched, and we carried on our way until we died from starvation/thirst (soda is hard to find!). I've already met more friendly players in the standalone than in the mod though, which is great.
