  1. is anyone else struggling with 1.8.1 how the zombies can hit you whilst you are running, and any tips appreciated. I went all the way to Balota and the barracks dont even exist, was so gutted, nothing in the tents apart from 100 zombies

    Great i will try Cherno later. I had fun on Sauderland but lost alllll my stuff now. I was on the way back to my car in Sauderland when i slid down a big hill and broke myself :( It was near a lake where i think someones base is , there was about 5 big heli's and some building in a big empty field near a lake...Was fun anyway :)

    I think your wrong here mate, global hive economy, means only effecting public hive. Servers which are private, or off hive, will not be controlled by global hive economy. As i explained before ,. they are going to need 2 systems- a closed private economy, where everything can be found per chance in ONE server, and the global economy for publics, where everything is controlled across all servers.

    Please disable friendly fire from some experimental servers to test this or do some internal testing at Bohemia Interactive. This is a still an issue and is been ignored as far as I know. In future larger servers and events with many people in one area crashes will be occuring

    Please dont balance loot spawns

    I think this is a stupid idea, part of the alpha is building up the loot spawn and getting them correct, and Do you really want everyone running around with grenades.I do not. And a grenade isn't that hard to test, they could test it in their office. I think a good 20-50% of experimental servers should disable friendly fire, so people can test the mechanics of fires, cooking etc. Especially when barricading comes in, your gonna need people to test the ghosting features and stuff Also, i dont think any testing has been done regarding server overload and crashing, which has happened to my group twice and other groups confirmed, when you have 10-20 people in one area or room the server will often crash. So how they can say the server can handle 100 i do not know They need to take friendly fire off experiemental and start doing some serious tests. Gather 40 people in one warehouse or room and all start putting your loot down and picking it up., Then try it with 100 people. Guaranteed crash

    Suggestion: zombies don't attack when spawning in

    the please wait screen gets stuck forever sometimes after the 99 seconds..never goes away..if i press ESC i can see the world, but have to quit again..Its annoying,, Also I dont think Zombies should be able to hit your character before said character has loaded...i think it is ridiculous taking away control from the player for 30 seconds so you log in you can be already dead..

    I am still waiting for the guy who debated this with me to provide any genuine link or proof that the zombies in Day Z are supposed to be strictly infected and the survivors are immune? I have not seen proof of this anywhere, it seems just a hearsay people bring up when anyone mentions zombies and headshots. besides that, yes best to wait until they have patched in their improved zombie AI etc.. I don't expect we will see private hives and editable files before December 2014 which is a hell of a wait..
  9. I dont know why basic stealth can't be implemented either : Prone = Invisible to zombie Would be a start This 'zombie pathfinding' is my most anticipated update for a video game ever. Literally been waiting since release in December for this. As far as I am concerned, the game is completely broken until this is in, And I cannot stand playing any longer until its in. even though I'll openly say its one of my favourite games.

    I am massive supporting OP on this and really looking forward to it. Also, for the reason we are apparantly getting- its too early , updates will break the mods etc... well modders are very talented and adjust to new updates very fast. On the stable we are only having one update a month (if that), so I'm quite sure modders could keep up with this 'progress'. So waiting another 6 months+ just seems over the top... looking forward to private servers and modded servers because most of the community Kill on sight and that ruins any potential interaction, co-operation, or fun situations where you don't know if someone was friendly or enemy, now typically 99% of the community will press shoot instead of push to talk. Just having a server on its own private hive means people won't be ghosting into areas fully equipped, they will have to make home on one server and not hop to get gear... So this helps a lot...Also you can block people who are complete pricks or cheating... Finally not everyone wants easy mode.. My dream server would be something like.. an increased zombie threat server , it would be increased zombies (x10) , zombies die from head trauma only (take all damage off their body and limbs, just head damage), 4 hour restarts with day and night (alternating each restart), As for vehicles i know their not avaible yet but just to say i would only like about 10-20 ground vechicles eventually for the server imo- approx 10 bicycles,3 moto's and 7 cars, couple of Urals or trucks, and 2 Heli's for the whole server (one little bird one big Merlin)... So basically,,, would like an increased zombie threat server to encourage more team work and make it harder...And also the bonuses of private hive been No Ghosting/ Hive so people are all a fresh spawn when they join it.. And opportunity to ban people who cheat or abuse .
  11. Wait until zombies are a bit further along and have the correct pathfinding and see how it plays out. I would like to see a sort of mid-range zombie, between slow shuffler and sprinter, a jogger zombie would balance quite well. But they have to be hard hitting, headshot kill only and lots of em. Otherwise too easy imo

    I've just tried doing it all the Steam way properly, got in a server, but as soon as I do I get some Battleye message. before i can read it it says restarting and use ArmaOA.exe or something in a black box. It boots back up and doesn't even say Im playing anything on Steam. how do i fix this battle eye ? Edit;. when launching DAY Z Mod in steam i have to click 'beta' and it seems to fix that
  13. Lol, well it is a game, you aren't in reality and meant to enjoy it. Anyway, Many other games that truely have zombies use similar mechanics in their quest for accessibility and balance. Resident evil, the walking dead, project zomboid, 7 days to die, dead island, call of duty Zombie mode, and others, all will have zombies die off a couple shots / hits to anywhere on their body. Only games i know of that have zombies die from head shot only true to zombie lore, is No More Room in Hell and Contagion, their both not very good games in my opinion, and still in those you will kill a zombie with a few chest shots. I wish Day Z would have true head shot only = kill, but please let me know any games that follow the lore correctly Sir

    i already reported this issue please vote up or duplicate it here http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=12762 Its been broken ever since 0.45 experimental, we wrote it in the experimental discussion so Im not sure how it made it to stable. I haven;t seen any feedback from Devs, so I dont even know if the bug tracker has been seen or works.

    reminds me of car wheels, i hope we can't just put them in our bags like the mod, a car wheel is too big and heavy for a rucksack. i think they need to create a carry animation.

    I think we should be able to combine chest holster with knife to create a leg holster. it would fit if you pulled it tight, cut a new hole for the belt part, or modified it somehow.

    i would like to see sound effects added for these so that they are also environmental hazards that can give your position away a bit like stepping on a twig. The cans could rattle in the wind or make a clash sound if you step on one. I know it is an advanced mechanic but i would love to see some development given to audio to help locate players and make movement more careful. Charging around everywhere should create louder steps and possibility of snapping twigs or clanging a can.

    Yes this is a great idea I guess it will be a development of barricading. Just for debate would you allow someone to pick up and carry a chair from a house? or would you 'lock' furniture to location it is spawned in? It would be cool if some items could be combined or had options much like sticks do, so for example if i carry a chair near the door it could come up with 'Wedge chair against door handle' - creating a quick but weak entry blockade, 'Break down and use wood with nails' -creating a plank barricade, stronger but noisier 'Place chair down' or throw it with T

One character per server sounds good but can become annoying if your server becomes over-crowded or is offline..but i think we should have both...a number of official hive servers, which I think shouldn't be able to be fiddled with by the admin, and then a number of private servers where admins could do what they want like password, kick people, clan only or whattever. Currently we have a grey area with many admins badly managing and kicking people from public hive

    Well..looking at the amount of time it takes to load a server, wait for textures and inventory to pop up, wait for server switch countdown, wait until i can raise my weapon after spawning and have control..I'd say it takes 2 to 3 minutes from pressing JOIN to having control of your character.

    Well eventually we should be able to port maps and user content? Napf is a bit bigger and i want to play Altis Arma 3 map but i dunno if that will ever be allowed..how about a DLC that allows u to play Altis if you own A3 and day z...?

    it works fine through day z commander (On Steam my OA Says : Not beta, Not updated automatically) On Commander both ticks are ticked (update steam with beta ) version 12555 day z 1.8.1 Works fine However, i have heard we can do away with commander, and use steam , so that steam shows; playing day z mod, not playing OA This never works for me..I have tried turning the steam one to beta, automatic, everything

You can also play a mission called zombie survival or something..co-op mission, its pretty good
  25. i quite like epoch because the old mod is quite clunky and old now compared to the standalone, its nice to be able to hop onto Epoch and usually there are a lot more vechicles lying around. i dont like the way it kinda turned into GTA, with the whole collecting money and cars , players can become very overpowered, and servers can be crowded with brought items. However if u play it on low pop servers for small time periods i find it quite a good fast way to play some vehicle day z
